No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2
Chapter 8: Maximum Effort (Part 8)
After the concert concluded, Ezekiel Stane found himself leading his group of stoners to the Palace Luxury Bar in Shibuya, Japan.
Of course he picked out the ritziest spot, because the Jackal's taste level was off the charts. There was nothing run-down or "dive bar" about Ezekiel Stane, but that doesn't mean he wasn't interested in that sort of thing…
Everyone was hungry, and the place he took them to doubled up as a karaoke bar, so Wade Wilson freaked out and jumped on the opportunity to express himself for all to see…
…
Every night in my dreams…
…
I see you, I feel you…
…
That is how I know you go on…
…
The infamous Deadpool started singing, and that behavior was beyond normal for him. Ezekiel was getting used to it, and his eyebrow arched up when he heard the sounds of a, flute?
Wade's song choice was… weird. Ezekiel didn't know the song (why would he?) and he thought it had a peculiar vibe to it in the beginning.
…
Far across the distance…
…
And spaces between us…
…
You have come to show you go on…
…
It felt even more bizarre when two of his companions started laughing at Wade's song choice. Clint Barton and Victor Strange started laughing almost immediately. In fact, the archer loudly shouted that he was "way too high for this."
Ezekiel didn't understand, cuz he's never seen the movie Titanic. (Why would he?) He studied their faces, then his eyes snapped back over in Wade's direction.
…
Near, far, wherever you are…
I believe that the heart does go on…
…
Once more, you open the door…
And you're here in my heart…
And my heart will go on and on…
…
Uhm, ok. Ezekiel just took in the words as they stood. He didn't mind the song as Wade kept it going, and the Jackal's eyes glanced toward the left side of the karaoke screen.
The name "Céline Dion" was typed up there beneath the song title, and Ezekiel was reminded of something Wade once said. He's mentioned that singer's name before, and something else, but still…. Ezekiel was at a complete loss.
…
Love can touch us one time…
And last for a lifetime…
And never let go 'til we're gone…
…
Love was when I loved you…
One true time I'd hold to…
In my life, we'll always go on…
…
Near, far, wherever you are…
I believe that the heart does go on…
…
I mean, the words were… interesting, plus the vibe and the sound of the song was beginning to stick. Ezekiel noticed that "Agent" Barton and Victor Strange slowly stopped laughing.
Now it seemed like they were understanding the words…
…
Once more, you open the door…
And you're here in my heart…
And my heart will go on and on…
…
Victor seemed deeply moved. He was already filled to the brim with emotions as it be, but in that moment… it looked like he was hearing poetry for the first time or something.
His eyes were open very wide, they were teary, and he looked like a sweet baby angel…It all felt very surreal once again, and Ezekiel was having a hard time, with….
….
You're here, there's nothing I fear…
And I know that my heart will go on…
…
We'll stay forever this way…
You are safe in my heart and…
My heart will go on and on…
…
There was just TOO MUCH going on for the baby Jackal to process in that moment. I mean…. Wade Wilson had a wonderful voice, a wonderfully gorgeous face and body, and he was built with so much emotion and charm.
SO the music, the words, the sounds, and all the vibes were affecting Ezekiel to the max, and it felt like he was about to pass out.
He looked at Wade when it was over, twice, but he had to slow things down and avoid him entirely. It had to have been the weed, and he absolutely had to avoid looking at Wade, cuz…
Their food arrived eventually, so that helped. Wade said he was starving, then Victor started singing, so… all of that stuff slowly calmed the Jackal's nerves. He actually found comfort in talking with Clint Barton about the food…
Oh, and Victor's song choice wasn't anything by Céline Dion, so Ezekiel's body began to chill out…
