No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2
Chapter 16: Thuggish Ruggish Bone (Part 6)
Charles Xavier was extremely surprised to suddenly receive a phone call, but Wade Wilson's name appeared on the screen of his cellphone after 9 pm…..
It was 10:24 am in Shibuya, so that meant it was officially 9:24 pm the night before in New York, and the timing of the call was beyond odd for someone like Xavier. The mutant also wasn't sure if he should accept the call or not, because it was Wade….
BUT, it could have been Ezekiel related, or an emergency, so the psychic reluctantly took the call. He didn't have the best relationship with the infamous mercenary to stand on, so Xavier wasn't sure what to expect…
…
"Hello?"
…
How peculiar. Receiving any sort of communication from Wade Wilson was always, interesting, so Charles had his left eyebrow arched up toward his ceiling. An anticipation also began to build up, mainly because of the oddity of the moment.
…
"Uhhh, Charles? Charles Xavier?"
…
"Yes, Wade? Is something wrong?"
…
Wrong? Uhh, maybe? The mercenary said his goodbyes to the two super cuties, then he went to give Ezekiel some breakfast and he kinda freaked out.
Wade really freaked himself out… cuz Ezekiel was still sleeping like a delicate angel, then the silence around the house slowly loomed in. A thick silence creeped over Wade's soul, then the thoughts in his head took over.
Whoaaaaaaa some crazy shit was back to haunt him, so he ditched the breakfast pile and he started physically working out. He pulled a Steve Rogers and took off on a run, then Wade remembered that he was only wearing boxers.
The sweet people of Japan weren't prepared to see him like that, so Wade freaked himself out again and he panic dialed everyone's favorite mutant freak-shrink.
Wade decided that he needed, help. He really needed to put a muzzle on his thoughts and talk to someone too, so….
…
"HI. Are you actually a licensed psychologist? Or, how does all your Stalker Council services work? You talk to Ezekiel once a week, but that's mandatory only, right? I know he's a gifted youngster, and I'm obviously, not. Well, wait… am I gifted? Yes. Am I a Mutant? Yes, but fuck joining the X-Men. Am I a youngster? No. So, I think I can qualify for at least one session with you, if you're actually legit?"
…
Wade just spoke out his thoughts as best he could. He had so much on his mind, and he was actually debating his return to the Airbnb. He wanted to be there when Ezekiel woke up, but at the same time he wanted to dip out and bail.
Xavier was beyond confused and concerned with whatever that was Wade Wilson said over the phone. All he heard at first was a bunch of word salad….
And the mutant could tell that he was, running? So… Xavier looked at the time and he took in a deep breath. He had to mentally break down what he heard and translate it somehow into something that made sense….
…
"Wade Wilson. I have earned my PHDs in genetics, biophysics and psychology. I have an M.D. in psychiatry, making me a qualified psychologist and therapist. Now, before you dare ask me anything else… the acronym for M.D. stands for MEDICAL DOCTOR."
…
Honestly, to have his credentials questioned at that hour was an annoyance in itself. Xavier almost hung up the damn phone, but he didn't.
His annoyed tone carried through the cellphone, so Wade stopped running straight away. The mercenary blinked a couple times as he processed Xavier's answer, then he switched his phone to the opposite ear.
…
"Oh, so you're legit? Cool, I was…I was wondering if you had any openings? I'm not a gifted youngster like Ezekiel, but I am a mutant. OH, and I think I'm on Medicaid again, does that get me in?"
…
Wade wasn't sure if he got all that insurance SHIT taken care of. Filling out paperwork or going to the hospital wasn't really his thing.
Wow, the mercenary heard a suuuuppppeeeerrrr exhausted and salty sigh head in his direction over the phone. Charles was beyond confused, annoyed, and dumbfounded by what was happening.
Part of him wanted to be PETTY, like Wade, but at the end of the day… the mutant couldn't behave in such a manner. Wade Wilson was clearly trying to book an appointment with him, and that was…
…
….
That was more than, fine. It was more than welcomed as well, so Xavier gently cleared his throat and he decided to change his tone.
….
…
"Are you saying you want to establish routine appointments with me? That requires my psychic abilities, and, I have time now if you'd like to speak to me…"
…
Right now? Wade's big heart ballooned out even more, and he thought over what Xavier said. The mutant told him that he had time to talk right then and there, and it sounded like he actually had room for him on his calendar.
Wade figured the dude had like, a million patients, or whatever. He also kinda thought that he'd get a FUCK NO sent in his direction. I mean, he didn't get along with most of those Stalker Council, fuckers…
…
"I think I need it? Or, I want to do that. Yes. Routine appointments work for me, but I'm in Japan.."
…
What time was it? Wade felt super crazy, so he drew in a giant breath. He was trying to accomplish some "in with the butterflies, out with the bees" self-soothing mantra kinda crap…
The mercenary didn't need to worry about the time any longer, because the forever-famous Charles Xavier received the consent he needed to gently tap himself into Wade Wilson's unique mind, so the two of them were finally together on the same exact page…
…
"It's currently 9:30 pm here in New York, Wade, so why don't you and I speak to each other at the same time once a week. We can do that over the phone if you'd like, or you can come here to the X-Mansion. Does that work for you?"
…
9:30 pm, once a week? Wade could definitely do that. He wanted to, and it felt like he needed it, so he verbally agreed to the timeframe right away. The mercenary said that was "cool," then Charles proceeded with their very first "tele-health" therapy session.
…
"Tell me why you're in Japan. I think that's a good starting point for us, and that will hopefully get you a little more oriented with your current surroundings…"
…
Xavier could mentally see that Wade was in a state of crisis. His mind was in pain, and he was literally running around Japan half naked.
It also looked like he had little pictures of sushi printed all over the fabric of his boxer shorts, but Xavier wasn't sure…
