No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2
Chapter 22: MILLION DOLLAR BABY (Part 2)

Wade Wilson reeeeeaaaaallllyyyy had to pump the breaks and put a stop to all his fooling around. He was trying to have a conversation with Ezekiel, and map out what was actually happening between the two of them.

That shit was just, important ok? It's important because the infamous mercenary was kinda getting tired of fucking up. He really liked Ezekiel, and he just needed to understand where they were at.

Ezekiel told him that he planned to live with him after Japan, but OF COURSE the conversation ended there. Shit got all sexy between them, and physical. They started making out heavy, and Wade was all over him before either of them could blink.

His sushi shorts were pushed down almost to his knees, and Ezekiel was the one initiating all the heavy groping. They were about to change it up too and "sixty-nine" it from there, but something strange happened to the baby Jackal.

He just…. stopped moving. It seemed like he received a mental transmission, or something, and Wade noticed that his expression changed. It looked like Ezekiel was, listening? Listening to… someone? Hello?

"What's is it?"

Wade was beyond confused, and he had no idea what was happening behind the scenes. Ezekiel's focus was pulled back to the "file" that was in his mind, because indirectly that became a communication link between him and Victor Von Doom.

Remember how "Doctor" Doom returned a bunch of information about Wade to that file? Well, Ezekiel inwardly REMOVED that information once again, and that served as a response to Doom, and a warning.

Now the quiet coyote received another response from him, but the information was far more cryptic than the before. Doom was relaying information to Ezekiel in his usual fashion, and the young man wasn't sure how to proceed.

"Hello? Earth to Ezekiel? What's going on?"

Wade gently tapped on his forehead a couple times as he spoke, cuz they were mega fooling around, and now the mercenary was left hanging mid-fondle. It wasn't a first for him, but the feeling was super weirdddd.

The baby Jackal was actually, reading. He wasn't listening to anything when Wade playfully tapped on his forehead. Doctor Doom took it upon himself to fill the "file" in his mind with words.

Think of it as a letter, of sorts, and Ezekiel was reading it and processing what it said silently within his own mind…

I feel we are always living within the time of Homer, and it's just a recycled embodiment of the first story that was ever written.

Recall the first conflict, technically chapter one, the feud between Achilles and King Agamemnon.

I hate to be compared to the arrogant and foolish Agamemnon, but our similarities can't be overlooked.

Your fearless brute matches the curse of Achilles perfectly. He's such a brave fighter, a fierce lover, with talents that only shine through someone's death.

And you, Ezekiel Stane, are you simply the modern embodiment of someone's war prize? The concubine of Achilles? Perhaps your next name will be Briseis?

Remember the great king, Agamemnon. He took that war prize from Achilles, and doing so sparked a feud that has far surpassed decades of time.

History does have a bad habit of repeating itself, and we all are creatures of habit.

Ok. The Jackal had to close his eyes when the words finally registered in his mind. He glanced at Wade for a moment, then he thought over how to handle what was happening.

NOW, that wasn't a love letter, or anything like that… so let's get that straight. Ezekiel was smart enough to take the words presented as a history lesson, and he understood the references that were made right away…

Doom was referring to one of the oldest works of literature. It's called the Iliad, and it was written by someone named Homer.

Now, Ezekiel was also smart enough to know that WADE would beyondddd freak out if he knew even half of what was written, so Ezekiel just stopped talking. He stopped moving, stopped thinking, and he basically stopped breathing for as long as it took for him to process.

I mean… there was so much to unpack with that interesting little history lesson. First, the character "Briseis" was indeed a war prize for another character named Achilles.

Doctor Doom was telling Ezekiel that he was reducing himself to being nothing more than Wade's "concubine" and that was….

That was… something to ponder.

A war was definitely brewing behind the scenes, so Ezekiel kept his eyes closed until he heard Wade's voice once again. The mercenary asked him again what was happening, and the Jackal wasn't sure how to answer.

I mean, Doom wasn't technically wrong… Ezekiel was reducing himself, in a sense. Now the last part of his "letter" was a real doozy. King Agamemnon didn't just spark a feud.

He took "Briseis" and sparked a war with Achilles, and now it seems as though Doom was more than willing to go to war, with Wade.

That was also… something to ponder.

So, Ezekiel sat up on the bed. He moved backward just a little bit, and the look on the mercenary's face was brutal. He looked so sad, so confused, and so frazzled by the sudden change in events.

"I'm not sure how to tell you what's happening, but… I'm going to try… and my Surveillant Council needs to be involved when I tell you."

Ezekiel wasn't sure if he could handle Doctor Doom on his own, but also, he wasn't sure if retaliating against him was the correct move.

I mean, Doom's words sparked an inner debate within the somber Jackal… and he found himself debating who was actually on his side.

Who cared for him the most? Wade Wilson? Doctor Doom? Charles Xavier? Steve Rogers?

Wade Wilson had an agenda within him, as well as certain members of the Surveillant Council, and now Doctor Doom shared a similar sentiment. Whose "agenda" was correct? Who had his best interests at heart?

Ezekiel thought it all over, and he started messing around with the blankets that were beside his legs. Everything was beginning to build up, and he started feeling deeply confused.

You see, "King Agamemnon" dished out some hefty words that immediately invoked an internal debate, so the Jackal decided to take everything in and proceed with caution.
