No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)
Chapter 62: We're From America (Part 2)

Donna Strange almost stood up, because the latest vote was complete, and it felt like the Surveillant Council meeting was coming to an end.

That thought was interrupted tho, because one of the Council members received a video call.

Charles Xavier answered that call without saying a word, and nobody in that room expected to see the person who appeared on the screen.

Wade Wilson was back at his luxurious Aztec themed hotel suite, and he looked a wee bit troubled. Donna started looking around the space that was behind the infamous Deadpool, and it looked like he was on a patio or something.

"Hi there. Uhh, you got a second? Something's come up, and, I think you should know?"

Wade was a goofy person in general, and his movements and mannerisms held that vibe as he spoke out his thought to Xavier. He kept looking behind him too, so Donna kept her focus on the screen.

The vote went in Xavier's favor, not Tony's, so the timeframe of giving Ezekiel six days was still in effect. Donna let everyone know that she felt a fragility in his soul. Something was off, and she felt rushing Ezekiel would ruin their progress.

Xavier and Steve Rogers agreed, so the odds were three votes against two. Nick Fury and Tony Stark wanted the information process sped up, but sooooo sorry Charlie..

"What's going on Wade? We have all the time in the world.."

The Council was put in place for moments such as this, so Xavier kept his language cordial. He wanted to say something else to the looney mercenary that was spinning around before them. No one watching could figure out what Wade was actually doing…

He was moving things around? Maybe? It looked like he was organizing a porch or something…

"Uhh, I know I barked about the whole six days thing, but it seems like Rae-Ann has had some sort of episode. Long story short, she tried to talk to that Hawkeye kid, but that didn't go so well. Now her arms are all bruised up, cuz she wouldn't stop squeezing them, and she said something weird too. She thinks she's losing her grip?…her grip on what? Help please."

"Where is she now?"

Wade immediately looked behind him. He did the best he could to calm Ezekiel down, but the mercenary got to a point where he didn't know what to do. He was beyond worried, and everyone in the room could see.

"She's asleep. You know he… uhhh I mean, she's behaved this way before. Back in the day…"

Wade didn't want to get specific on that, because Ezekiel behaved that way after the two of them started hooking up. He just went into this weird state of mind, and it took Wade an eternity to snap him out of it.

So, the merc had seen something similar before, and truthfully speaking, he was scared to death.

Xavier took in what he heard, and he took a moment to listen in a bit more to what Wade had to share. He didn't believe Ezekiel's intimacy with Wade was the culprit, so he chose not to comment on the thought.

He looked at a few of the Surveillant Council members, then he quickly pondered their recent vote. Rushing Ezekiel's memories and secrets would not happen. He was too fragile, it was a bad idea, and that was final.

"Wade, I think it's best to just carry on as normal. Help her through her plans, and keep her happy. We will continue to monitor her, and we will reconvene in six days."

Six days? Ok. Wade drew in a deep pit of air, then he started looking amongst the rest of the group. The whole gang was there, and the mercenary kinda figured that was odd.

The whole "team meeting" vibe was a bit unexpected, but Wade liked the idea of keeping Ezekiel happy. That's all he wanted to do really, besides keeping him safe.

"We want you to continue doing what you do best, then in six days we will move things forward with Rae-Ann. Got it?"

Uhhhh. Hold up. Wade turned his head just a wee bit to the side when he heard that next bit. "Move things forward" meant, what exactly? Wade processed what he heard, and best believe his hands went up on his hips after all that. He pulled a Captain America move, then he glanced back toward their room once again.

"I got it."

Wade just went with his gut, and he quickly ended the call. He was doing some rearranging on the super cool patio that they booked.

Everything in his body was telling him that he made the right call, so the mercenary didn't dwell for shit.
