No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2
Chapter 29: MILLION DOLLAR BABY (Part 9)
Victor Strange could tell that he wasn't going to be heading back to Wade and Ezekiel's fancy Airbnb, because his friendly not-so-ex boyfriend made sure to bring all of their stuff with them when they left.
They didn't pack much to begin with, but still, the gesture was a dead giveaway.
So, they packed their stuff all around Japan, explored, ate a bunch of food, and Victor finally managed to introduce Clint Barton to his older brother.
That was a giant accomplishment for the baby Strange, because acknowledging when he was actually in a relationship was usually the part he sucked at the most.
There was some weird denial thing going on,or whatever, and Victor never understood why he couldn't just tell his family that he was with someone.
In theory, it had something to do with his behavior behind closed doors, cuz the baby sorcerer just assumed his family members suddenly knew what he was doing behind the scenes…
Uhmm, his mind was in a weird place for no reason, so he rolled his eyes at himself and he snagged the archer's right hand. Victor held his hand close, and he asked him what the plan was.
There was so much more to explore there in Japan, but the baby Strange kinda got the feeling that the two of them were going to be leaving.
Call it a hunch, but Victor could tell that his baby bird boyfriend had other plans. The archer glanced down at their hands, and he thought over how to tell Victor that he wanted to leave.
Truthfully speaking, he didn't want to see Victor mixed up with Wade Wilson and Ezekiel Stane at all. He understood that Victor and Ezekiel had a strong bond, but those two were beyond insane, and … Barton wanted to keep their interactions, professional.
They were sorta like "work" associates. He made a promise to work with Ezekiel and support him, but the archer didn't plan on taking things any further than that…
They weren't "friends"… ok? Let's not get too carried away.
…
"I bought a place, in Tribeca. Would you… like to see it?"
…
Tribeca was in New York. Victor half expected that response, but he didn't expect to hear that the archer actually bought a place. Ooohhh and Tribeca was super hip and expensive.
It was close to Manhattan, and Greenwich Village too. The Sanctum Sanctorum was like, a mile away from Tribeca… and that seemed pretty perfect.
SOOOooo… the baby bird finally got his own nest? Victor bit his bottom lip as he pondered what was said, then he playfully started nodding his head yes.
…
"I bought it after I gave you back your keys… I needed a fresh start, I guess, and.. you could come over, and stay over, if you want?"
…
The baby bird felt nervous. He didn't really want to bring up the subject of returning the keys to Victor's apartment, but the archer absolutely had to do it. He couldn't live there any longer.
Barton had a hard time there, and he didn't want to be reminded of what happened at all.
…
"I'd like that, and I'd love to see it.."
…
Victor spoke pretty softly, because the subject wasn't easy for him to discuss as well. The baby Strange pondered why it wasn't easy for a short while, then he took the initiative and formed a portal.
The portal led the two of them just outside the Sanctum Sanctorum. Victor's home away from home was right there toward his left, and he broke the silence by saying Tribeca was a pretty short walk from his "work."
Well, that all depended upon where the archer decided to live… but Victor's assumption was correct. Barton purchased a loft in the fanciest part of the Tribeca district, and it was only a thirty minute walk from the S.H.I.E.L.D. base AND Victor's work…
The archer might have planned it that way, but he felt a little too bashful to admit that out loud. Victor Strange was going to be the first person to see his place, and the first person to stay over… so it's safe to say the guy felt pretty nervous.
He simply pointed east, and he told Victor that his loft was way up at the top of one of the taller buildings.
The good natured and notably famous "Hawkeye" truly behaved like a beautiful bird, all perched up in his nest.
Victor liked that about him, and he held that thought as he quietly looked him over. His energy felt more than good, and physically things… felt… good.
So good that things kinda buzzed, and it was causing something different to stir up within the baby Strange.
Victor puzzled on that for a bit, but then he took the archer's hand and followed his lead.
