No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)
Chapter 67: We're From America (Part 7)

Donna Strange actually heard the words "premarital counseling" being said in the church office. She was sitting at a desk beside James, and a member of the church started handing the two of them a questionnaire.

They offered premarital counseling to all couples who planned to get married, but Donna and James both respectfully declined the offer. Yeah, no thanks.

"James" was trying to keep his cool. He almost laughed twice, because the preacher actually told them that their counseling services would help them "build a solid, biblical foundation" for their marriage.

Whatever buddy… he was super creepy too, and Bucky wasn't digging his vibe.

The conversation got even creepier when the pastor started talking about how couples "rationalized" having premarital sex after getting engaged, and their counseling services would help "preserve" them from temptation.

Yikes dude. That ship sailed a while ago… in fact, it sailed again that morning. Donna had to nudge Bucky's leg, because the somber brunette finally cracked his composure and laughed.

"Thank you for your offer, Reverend, but we respectfully decline. We both agree that this church would be a beautiful location for our wedding, so we're only interested in being put on the schedule."

Donna Strange was naturally polite. She had her moments of sass, and because of her siblings, the woman could dish out the sarcasm if need be.

She smiled at James tho, then she looked over the form that was given to the two of them. She saw the section that Ezekiel Stane spoke about. He said they used the form to identify who was a mutant.

Donna checked the box that indicated she was a mutant, and she planned to discuss her powers if the subject was brought up. The two of them could easily pass as mutants, so let's go….

Bucky Barnes identified himself as James Buchanan on the document. He checked the box for mutant as well, then he looked over at his fiancé.

They both expected the pastor to go down the chart and ask them questions, just like Ezekiel explained. That's how it went for every single "couple" that entered the churches all across the United States.

Tony Stark and Steve Rogers had a bigger challenge at their church, because they had to identify as being a "mutant" and they also had to write in their sexual orientation.

Apparently that shit mattered?

Steve was more bothered about it than Tony was. The two of them had to alter their appearance quite a bit too, and just for kicks, they came up with some super cool code names.

Steve's fake name was already given to him long ago, cuz he read alllllll about someone who protected Tony, back in the day.

He wrote the name "Bruce Barton" down on his little form. He wrote it out in big bold letters too, just in case Tony was looking at his form.

OH, he was looking… and the brunette playfully rolled his eyes after he saw it. He didn't mind the name "Bruce Barton" making a comeback in his life. In fact, he welcomed it, and he made sure to pencil in that he was "bisexual" too….

Those details apparently mattered folks, and Tony made it a point to be thorough.
