No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)

Chapter 78: The Beautiful People (Part 8)

Before all the Iron Monger, Sorcerer Supreme, and "Invisible Man" drama started taking over the story, Victor Strange's not-so-friendly ex boyfriend/ roommate received an angsty text message.

He was literally dodging a sea of gunfire when his armor decided to sound the alarm on him. Shrike shook his baby soul for a sec, cuz he told him that he had an incoming message from Victor Strange.

"IGNORE THAT MESSAGE, for now… please…"

Clint Barton's voice softened up toward the end of his command, but deep down he didn't want to read it. He couldn't read it, actually, because he truly didn't want to face the facts. The facts had to do with Victor always choosing Ezekiel smug-face Stane.

Victor was beyond in love with him. He always had been, and obviously their stupid random roommate "relationship" meant nothing…

It didn't mean jack shit to Victor, clearly, and it really hurt his baby bird soul whenever thoughts about it snuck into his mind. So, in an effort to make himself feel better, he made sure the messages stayed as far away from him as possible.

I mean, the baby bird figured out a while ago that he did end up having some suuuperrrr strong feelings for…

Victor…

… but …

… that… was …

…..

UGH. Barton quickly shoved one of those "Purifier's" back against a cage that contained a docile mutant. He kicked him hard, straight in the chest, then he received another alert from Shrike.

The mobile suit told him that "Reverend Miller" was on the move back up in the church, and Shrike also informed him that the "Iron Mongers" were no longer in the underground facility.

Barton figured that he'd be facing those giant machines at some point, so hearing that sparked some confusion within him. He told Shrike to apprehend Miller up on the surface, then he told his armor to let Nick Fury know where she was located.

After that, the archer started looking around for Yelena Belova.

She was working with a large group of the X-Men, and they were busy removing mutants from their cages one by one. He wrapped up his assault on three other Purifier's that were in his path, then he caught up with Yelena and gave her a hand.

Barton really didn't have a moment to think about anything related to Victor Strange, hisfeelings, a response to his message, or their epic failure of a relationship…
