No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)
Chapter 79: The Beautiful People (Part 9)
Tony Stark wasn't sweating the restraints that were suddenly clamped around his wrists, because losing his armor didn't necessarily render him helpless.
He still had Hoggoth to protect him, and Tony still had the ability to use his energy-based armor. Oh, and side note: the brunette did notice that Ezekiel's restraints were white, while the metal that covered his wrists were the signature "Iron Man" red.
Hmm… details matter people, and the inventor caught onto the color differences straight away. He also noticed that Wade Wilson was gone, and that tragic scene of him desperately searching for Ezekiel out there in the snow ceased to be….
That fancy "force field" they were stuck in relocated somewhere else too, so Tony started inspecting everything that he could see around his body. He noticed there was a stone wall toward his left, and the vibe was medieval and dark.
Was that, candlelight? Or, a friggen chandelier? Get the eff out dude, seriously…
Ezekiel Stane started seeing something similar on his side of the force field. He did his best to ignore Tony's frequent movements and the corny one liners that he constantly made about what he was seeing.
Tony said something about seeing a "Phantom of the Opera," sort of vibe outside the force field, but Ezekiel didn't understand the reference. He didn't know a damn thing about it, then his eyes stopped at something that was toward his right.
Ezekiel saw something that actually seemed… familiar, but the Jackal wasn't really sure if any of it was real. They were obviously transported to some sort of home, or maybe it was just a large room.
…
"Tony, I've seen this place before… I think.."
…
"Oh yeah? Well, I'm not surprised to hear you say that…"
…
Tony had been TRYINGHHHH to figure out what was happening and tell everyone, but the pieces to the puzzle didn't appear at a fast enough pace. The brunette had a few tricks up his sleeve, naturally, so to be honest he wasn't sweating any of it.
He was only looking forward to the wool finally being removed from everyone's eyes. There was so much more to Ezekiel's upbringing. He didn't have all the answers, but Tony felt as if they'd finally scratched the surface.
The brunette noticed that the "force field" that surrounded them began to disappear too. Tony and Ezekiel could see that they were placed in the middle of a large room, and the contents of that room were becoming more apparent.
It looked like they were in a giant library, and the "Jackal" started staring at something else that looked familiar. He saw an old end table… it was made of wood, and the carvings on it were way too familiar.
It was hand carved, and Ezekiel remembered all the details. His eyes skimmed over the chess board that was carved in the middle as well. He looked toward his left, and he even remembered where the chess pieces were stored.
…
"I've definitely been here. Either by memory, or in person.."
…
The baby Jackal wasn't sure if he'd ever been in that location physically, but the familiar feeling wouldn't leave his mind. While Obadiah's baby boy took a trip down memory lane, Tony started looking around for the invisible man.
Meh..Fuck it. Instead of waiting, the brunette decided to use the energy from his OTHER suit to free himself and potentially lure someone out.
He wasn't sure why the invisible man was stalling, but seriously, enough was enough…
