No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)
Chapter 85: Sunshine (Part 5)
Victor Strange ditched his brother and determined that he needed a break… remember? So, he was currently sitting down in the meditation chamber at the Sanctum Sanctorum, and he was trying to think things through.
…
"Hey. Did you bring back any cake?"
…
The problem with that was, his baby mind kept running back to a certain time, a certain person, and a certain place.
Victor used to avoid Clint Barton like the plague, while his "friendly roommate" always did the opposite. He was always there to greet him, and he'd always say something random when they lived together.
It was just… super sweet, and looking back, Victor could see that the archer was trying to get his attention every time he saw him…
…
"Wanna play Twisted Metal?"
…
"Hey, the washer's broke.."
…
"Wanna go?"
…
"I was going to grab some food as well."
…
"Or, I could make you something here instead. If you want."
…
"You two are still together, aren't you?"
…
Victor felt like a friggen monster. He sat there with his thoughts, and the memories of being a horrible person/human/roommate/boyfriend kept coming back to haunt him.
Barton's adorable voice began to haunt him as well, and Victor realized the tone of it changed over time. He kept indirectly rejecting him, and obviously that changed things between them down the road.
…
"I'm heading back in soon. Vacation is almost up."
…
"I was thinking, well more wondering, if you wanted to do something before I went back? Just, something simple."
…
"Is that the plan?"
…
"Plan? What do you mean plan?"
…
"You mean, your boyfriend's plan?"
…
Wow. Ok, Victor seriously hated himself, and he hated what his mind recalled in that moment. He remembered that he didn't go anywhere with his friendly roommate, and he never spent any real time with him while they lived together.
In fact, he remembered the archer took off shortly after their awkward conversation, and he often did things alone…
Victor also remembered that he literally went back with Ezekiel five minutes later after that conversation too, and the two of them had been doing this insane back and forth "relationship" thing ever since.
Well, that all changed after Wade Wilson showed up. Everything changed, and Victor could see that he only started looking in another direction, to cope.
…
"Your boyfriend is sick and he picked a fight with someone. You might want to check on him."
…
"Why do you call him that?"
…
"Well, he's your boyfriend. Right?"
…
Victor forced the rest of those thoughts out of his mind, because he understood exactly what he actually did after Wade Wilson barged his way back into everyone's life...
It was way too painful to re-watch and look backward, so the baby sorcerer dove into a different type of meditation. The Mystic Arts had guides that could be utilized, and that shit was mandatory for a number of reasons…
The first reason had to do with Victor's tormented soul, and that vicious spiral of self-loathing. The second reason had to do with his intrusive thoughts, so he closed his eyes and asked someone for some help…
He friggen needed it, because his baby soul felt broken beyond repair…
