No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2
Chapter 56: Extra Dry, Extra Olives (Part 6)
Steve Rogers laughed so hard… he almost choked on his sandwich. Twice.
He choked back more than a few laughs during the Surveillant Council meetings all the time, because everything Wade Wilson said and did was pretty hilarious. It had to be his tone or something, but the blonde was practically in tears as they had their lunch.
They were talking about their significant others, and the infamous Deadpool was currently venting about the issues he's been having with Ezekiel Stane.
Steve found most of the issues between them to be very relatable, because Tony was more or less cut from the same cloth. And… the blonde understood what Wade was saying about Ezekiel on both levels, because he wasn't considered "cultured" in a lot of ways as well…
…
"I meannnnnnn, Ezekiel knows how to friggen synthesize molecules… or what the fuck ever, but Wikipedia and crockpots freak him out. He can't wrap his head around basic stuff either, and I'm all about that. He won't… just… be with me, and it's driving me crazy. OH… AND NOW HE'S GONE, and my shit's been left on read. I can't find him, and now he's probably off reading poetry and eating tea cakes with that Chrome-Dome Cock-Sucker Doctor Mc-Dick Town Doom. Do you think they've hooked up, or thought about it?…."
…
Steve Rogers heard all of that and he choked back another laugh. The way Deadpool spoke about Victor Von Doom had the soldier boy dying inside with laughter. He laughed over his bite of food, then he forced himself to drink something in order to wash it all down and focus.
Captain America didn't know what "Wikipedia" was either, but he used a crockpot to cook things all the time.
…
And as for Ezekiel Stane "hooking up" with Doctor Doom? Yeah, no way… Steve didn't see that connection developing any further than its current state. Ezekiel was clearly in love with Wade Wilson, but the mercenary seemed to be forever aloof about it.
Did he really… not notice? Seriously, how could he miss that? The thought of Wade's obliviousness made the blonde think twice about certain comments that were made to him by Stephen Strange throughout the years…
Stephen was always making comments about Tony's feelings, and he'd drop hints about Tony's loyalty towards him all the friggen time. The great "Douchebag-Wizard-Pizza-Supreme" was trying to make Steve see…and now… uhh…
…
"Ezekiel definitely isn't hooking up with Victor Von Doom, but I can't speak to whether or not he's thought about it."
…
Who's to say really, but the feelings Ezekiel had for Wade were very clear to Steve. He noticed it early on, and the blonde secretly lived for shit like that.
Wade Wilson chomped down a big bite of his sandwich, and he pondered over Steve's genteel response. The merc was talking up a storm in that fancy little Italian deli, but whatever…
He had a shit ton of thoughts to share, and it felt good to talk to someone about it who actually seemed like a … friend? Whoa, were they friends now? Maybe? Too soon? Wade's mind started racing at the thought.
Those thoughts changed as he processed Steve's response, because Wade already knew the answer to his own question. Well, he knew based on what Ezekiel's told him… but the merc still couldn't accept the whole private math tutor thing.
Wade looked pretty worried, so the blonde decided to think more on what he said. The mercenary said that he couldn't find Ezekiel? And he's been left on read? Steve decided to help him with that search… and possibly remedy the devastated look on Wade's face.
…
"Jarvis? Can you please run a search for me? I'd like to know where the Mind Stone is located."
…
Wade explained earlier that he was unable to find Ezekiel by searching for Zephyr. The technology was blocked from Sevgili to Zephyr, but Steve Rogers was tapped into Tony Stark's data stream….
That database was ginormous, and why would Tony block Steve from looking into something? If his information on the Mind Stone was blocked, then that would be weird, and a red flag for sure…..
…
"Captain Rogers, the Mind Stone is currently located at 10880 Malibu Point, Malibu, California, 90265. Shall I alert Mr. Stark of your inquiry?"
…
Hmmmm… Steve heard that address loud and clear, and he gave the mercenary a kind smile. So, Ezekiel was with Tony right there in that moment. How… interesting.
Uhhh. Wade absentmindedly scratched the back of his head, cuz he couldn't think of any reason why Ezekiel would randomly be in California. That's super cool tho. Good for him, and… the merc didn't think to look for the Mind Stone at all, so, good going Steve.
Wade was inwardly glad to know that Ezekiel wasn't in Doctor Mc-Fuck Town's fancy country, but… he still felt some sort of way about the quiet coyote leaving him… it just…hurt his soul a bit.
…
"No. Jarvis, please don't alert him. Just ask Tony if our double date has started without us?"
…
That's no fun, but coincidentally, Steve was technically doing the same exact thing. The notion of Tony doing something similar with Ezekiel was too much of a coincidence …
Steve's thoughts about them all being "parallel extensions" of one another crossed his mind once again, so the blonde took a long look at the person who was sitting across the table.
Wade Wilson asked him about California. What's out there, and he said something about wanting to head out and see, but he couldn't. The merc said he didn't want to follow after Ezekiel, and upset him. It seemed like the mercenary was afraid of pushing him away…
…
"Wade, we'll both cross that California bridge together in a minute…soooo, have you ever heard anything about being someone's parallel extension? Stephen Strange told Tony and I that we all have one… everyone."
…
Steve wasn't sure if that phrase was a common thing, or if it just circulated around the Mystic Arts. UHH, the mercenary arched a brow and he looked pretty confused with Steve's statement and question.
A parallel, what? Wade simply shrugged up his shoulders and told him no, cuz parallel parking was the only thought that crossed the merc's mind…
