No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)
Chapter 95: End Game (Part 5)
A request did go out for Victor Strange, and his presence was required for the upcoming Surveillant Council meeting.
His sister Donna pulled him out of the void, because spending time in the Sanctum Sanctorum's Meditation Chamber was a tricky thing.
Think of it like a "gym," for the mind and for energy manipulation. It's also a place where a person might need someone to act as a "spotter" to keep them from getting lost or doing something stupid.
In Victor's case, he could have talked to his "guide" for decades, because some Sorcerer Supremes meditated for years at a time.
Donna and Stephen both knew Victor's focus would develop, but until he was ready they both planned to watch him like a hawk….
Speaking of hawks, the young man who went by the alias "Hawkeye" tried not to look in Victor's direction when he suddenly entered the deliberation room.
Victor walked in after his sister, and he took a seat in the center of the room. The baby Strange smiled at Tony and Steve. He gave them both a big wave too, then his eyes started hunting around for Ezekiel Stane and Wade Wilson.
They weren't there yet, and others were walking in. Natasha Romanoff and her sister Yelena Belova had arrived, and Victor kept staring at the "other" Bucky Barnes…. His hair was long, and he looked kinda mean. The Bucky he knew had a gentle face, he was funny, and…
Whoa. Trippy. Victor dropped his thought as his eyes continued wandering around. He stopped when he saw the person who was sitting near the door. Clint Barton was there, and…
Uhhhh Victor friggen looked away as fast as he possibly could. He didn't FORGET that his not-so-friendly ex-boyfriend/roommate was part of Ezekiel's team, but he kinda wasn't ready to see him there in the flesh. He didn't receive a response from him either, but that was… fine.
Victor noticed that he cut his hair right away. Barton's blondie hair was all chopped up, buzzed off on the sides, and it was shaped into a short mohawk on the top. It looked really cool. Clint Barton was already an attractive guy as it be. He's a real golden retriever type too… when he wasn't pissed off at you, so…
The baby Strange swallowed down his nerves as best he could, then he glanced around all the empty friggen chairs that were surrounding him.
Wade and Ezekiel weren't late, but…UGH. It didn't help that his damn sister had to sit up at the front of the room with all the other "Surveillant Council" people…
He felt very alone all of a sudden, and the feeling sucked major. OH YEAH, Victor was supposed to be doing something as soon as someone specific entered the room. Donna and Victor discussed the two of them doing some very important "energy mapping," so the baby Sorcerer Supreme forced himself to focus on that.
His eyes migrated back toward the door again, and he couldn't help but settle his attention back toward his… salty ex.
They had the worst "conversation" when they last saw one another in person, and now everything felt super over and done. Victor noticed that the bird boy was actually looking in his direction too. They actually made eye contact, and that was…
UHHHHHHH fucking, whatever. Victor almost turned his flustered face away again, but then the source of his "energy mapping" happened to step into the deliberation room. Victor was put to task as soon as another "Victor" entered their space…
Victor Von Doom walked all the way across the room. He cleared the Surveillant Council without saying a word to any of them, and the baby Strange locked onto his… vibe. Doom sat down beside the window, and his eyes locked onto baby Victor's right away.
Doctor Doom was well versed in the Mystic Arts, so he noticed a probe into his energy as soon as he entered the room. He silently stared at the newly appointed "Sorcerer Supreme" with only a sliver of interest, but the look on his face only served as an amusement…
His energy was… intense. It didn't feel evil, cosmic, or… demonic, but it felt big and it was definitely something to ponder.
Victor Strange couldn't necessarily stop looking in Doom's direction, but he had to look over at his older sister after some time. Donna gave him a look that was a bit unreadable, because they both had to process what Doom's power and energy actually meant.
It felt like he was stronger than Stephen, and possibly all three of the Vishanti combined… and that was… whoa.
Victor began to think that Doctor Doom was the strongest person in that room, and the thought was pretty daunting and scary. He had to close his eyes after a moment, because the "other" Victor decided to put an end to their energy hunt.
Think of Donna and Victor's pursuit to understand Doom's power as if they both were staring at a candle.
Think of the candle as his energy, flickering one way, then flowing over in another direction based on the amount of power that it had.
Well, Doctor Doom could also see what they were looking at, so with one small gesture, he snuffed out that "candle" and put an end to their silent pursuit…
He blocked their minds from reading into his soul, and the whole thing gave Victor Strange something called the "heebie jeebies."
