No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)
Chapter 100: End Game (Part 10)

As you probably read in the previous chapter, a small conversation did take place between Ezekiel Stane and Victor Von Doom after the Surveillant Council meeting came to an end.

Ezekiel intentionally ignored Wade Wilson's behavior about it too, and he gave his former teacher a cordial thank you.

Oh why, oh why did the baby Jackal thank Doctor Doom after the meeting? Well, the change in the meeting's structure was obviously a direct result of something that Doom either said or did…

Ezekiel didn't need to know those details. His mind was focused more on the concept of having an actual end date to his Surveillant Council, and the opportunity to one day be a "free" human being…

"There's no need to thank me for anything. I only want you to know that you always have a place in Latveria…"

Doom inwardly declared that Ezekiel Stane would always have a place to reside, think and work if he needed it, and going forward he also had absolutely nothing to fear.

Ezekiel didn't hear any of those thoughtful declarations, because Doom explained himself to no one, and he didn't want to discuss things any further.

Just recall the fact that "Doctor Doom" had opened parts of his home up to the "Jackal" ever since he was a child. It was a bold move for Charles Xavier and the rest of his "Council" to toy with a person's life, liberty, and memories.

Doom found it ironic. Under the veil of keeping Ezekiel Stane "safe" the Surveillant group of five managed to get away with it scott-free.

Their ideals obviously clashed beneath the surface, but Victor Von Doom welcomed the outcome of the meeting as it unfolded step by step. He said nothing more to Ezekiel, and he let him head off to his other meeting.

Doom had a plan in mind to sarcastically congratulate "Captain America" with the unspoken success behind that ridiculous meeting.

In the game of Chess, Steve Rogers made a clever "discovered attack" that morning, but we're not going to dive into what any of that actually means…

Ezekiel heard that he always had a "place" in Latveria. Now, Latveria was a small remote country in Europe, and it was actually ruled and protected by Doctor Doom.

The baby Jackal thought over what he said, then he followed up by saying a brief goodbye to the man standing in front of him.

Ezekiel quietly followed Charles to his office after the conversation came to a close. There were heavy thoughts on his mind when he walked in, and the psychic mutant made sure to mention that as the somber Jackal took his usual seat.

Wade's behavior was… bothersome. Ezekiel kept thinking about it, and he decided to lead the discussion by bringing him up.

"I've never experienced anything like Wade's behavior before. I'm not used to this, attention. I don't know if he's jealous, suspicious, or just upset with me over having a private tutor. I thought private tutors were a common thing?"

Ezekiel felt very confused. He closed his eyes as he kept fussing around with his hands. They both were still wearing that silly engagement ring as well, and that was something to discuss and ponder.

The Jackal had grown used to talking things out with the mutant in the room with him, so their conversations were becoming more and more personal.

Charles thought over the behavior he witnessed from Wade "Winston" Wilson at the meeting, and an amused smile began to cross over his face. His outbursts were beyond the levels of being a rational human being, because Deadpool was nothing of the sort…

"You can think of his behavior as a person being very territorial, Ezekiel. I can assure you that he isn't upset with you at all."

He was clearly "upset" with Victor Von Doom, not him, but Xavier couldn't divulge that information to the young man who was sitting there in the room. Wade Wilson wasn't a patient of his, and he didn't have permission to tap into his entertaining mind.

Just call it a hunch, because Ezekiel Stane and Wade Wilson had become very intertwined. Clearly the two of them were very intimate, and heavily involved with one another…

Xavier's left eyebrow arched upward as the baby Jackal processed that information and drew in a slow breath. His face was still flustered, just like before, but he sat with that information for a short while.

The word "territorial" struck a chord within the somber young man, so he swallowed down his thoughts about Wade and he gave Xavier a polite smile…

He opened up about his plans for the image of "Rae-Ann" after that, then their conversation wrapped up after some time.

Ezekiel left the office feeling somewhat better about Wade's behavior, but he still pondered over the details as he walked in the mercenary's direction.

He was giving Victor Strange a warm hug, and Ezekiel heard him explain that he was very "big" in the country of Japan.

Apparently, they all had "no idea" how big Deadpool actually was in the land of the rising sun, but Ezekiel felt eager to learn more about it…

He gave the infamous mercenary a small smile when the man playfully stepped over in his direction.

The now internationally-famous "Deadpool" gave his quiet coyote a gentle greeting. He nudged in all close and cozy too, and the thought of Wade being "territorial" crossed Ezekiel's mind once again….
