No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2
Chapter 63: No Regrets, Coyote (Part 3)
…
Hmmm….
…
So, apparently… Doctor Victor Von Doom was a hot topic amongst the commoners in this story.
The man beneath the mask was very well aware that he was currently being discussed in an egregious amount of conversations all across Earth Dimension 3000-21.
Three conversations peaked his interest, so the man listened in with ease. First, Charles Xavier and his team of pimple faced mutants were currently discussing his psychic abilities, and that information was being delivered in some sort of classroom setting.
The interesting part had to do with Xavier's ambitious attempts at keeping his abilities at bay. Protecting someone's mind was their "top priority"… that's what the mutant told them.
Doom had to laugh at that. The notion was very entertaining, but the man moved on and pressed a button to tap into another conversation.
The second one was happening at a place called the Sanctum Sanctorum. Doctor Stephen Strange was telling his family all about Battleworld, and the small get-together was amusing to see.
Stephen Strange, Donna Strange, Victor Strange, Clea Strange… and the little one there definitely caught Doom's eye. The "former" Sorcerer Supreme was forming quite an army, but the man looking into the scenario wasn't moved at all…
Doom switched his screen toward the third conversation, and he stopped his own technology when he caught sight of Ezekiel Stane.
He heard them all briefly discuss something relating to Battleworld over some sort of meal, then the voice of that loud mouth mercenary obnoxiously took over the room.
…
"You betting on your private science tutor to win or something? Is that what you're saying?"
…
Oh, what was Ezekiel Stane saying…. One could only wonder. Doom studied the look on Ezekiel's tender face, then his attention switched over to the other interesting mind that was in the same exact room.
…
Tony Stark wasn't saying a word to anyone, but that mind of his was spinning off on things you wouldn't believe. Perhaps his distant thoughts were a clever diversion. Did someone's "Little Red Corvette" pick up on his technology yet?
The notion was possible, and then there was the blonde hero sitting directly beside him to consider as well. "Captain America" was the person who initiated the conversation. He brought up Battleworld, as if to trigger some sort of reaction? What the devil were they doing?
…
Hmm.. Doom maintained an amused smile, then he instructed his tech to look back toward the opposite side of the table. Their boring conversation about seeing a movie was nearing an end, but that God-awful buffoon wouldn't stop talking about it….
…
Did that man ever physically shut his mouth?
…
Victor Von Doom was puzzled and beyond irritated by Ezekiel's connection to that vile brute. For him, seeing Wade Wilson pawing all over Ezekiel was similar to watching a person destroy a rare painting. It was bothersome, exhausting, and unpleasant to witness…
They were talking about going to something called the Nitehawk Cinema? And guess what, they planned to watch some old movie. Wade Wilson wouldn't shut up about seeing an "older" movie too, and Doom genuinely couldn't wait to break his face…
…
"Okay, let's go there. That used to be called the Sanders Theatre, back in the 30s. I've seen a few moving pictures there, but I haven't seen it since I left."
…
Ugh. Doom had to roll his eyes as he listened to them all discuss and plan out the rest of their domestic social gathering. So, they were going to leave their current location, and walk to 188 Prospect Park West.
…
Doom couldn't comprehend the trivial and mundane things they were doing and discussing. He saw it as some form of subjugation, actually, and a complete WASTE of Ezekiel Stane's time.
…
You mean THIS is how you view yourself? This is what you intend to do with your mind, body, and soul? Really? You've got to be joking…
…
Victor Von Doom's ego went beyond the depths of his technology, and everyone noticed that something unspoken kindddaaaa took over the moment. You see, Doom's thoughts and questions held so much weight… and they were unintentionally pushed through the void.
Steve, Tony, Wade, and Ezekiel were about to leave Mama Louisa's Delicatessen, but the baby Jackal suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.
He felt those thoughts, heard those questions, and everyone noticed the startled look on his face.
