No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2

Chapter 78: Battleworld (Part 8)

Ezekiel Stane was an expert at overthinking, so unfortunately… he overwhelmed himself and lost track of time. He did take Doom's advice and got some rest, but honestly, his thoughts wouldn't cease.

Being a constant disappointment, and also being viewed as this "fragile" thing was really getting to him…so the baby Jackal shared how he felt with his "fancy" science tutor.

He opened up to Doom about how he wanted to end things and eventually cut ties with his Surveillant Council. Ezekiel simply wanted to disappear for a long time, while also having his "work" take care of itself in the long run.

Doom agreed that he needed to distance himself, and the man further explained doing that was a good way to protect the soul.

Everyone's soul was at risk of a siege… that's what he said before he left. Doom removed himself from one of the rooms Ezekiel grew up in, and who knows where he went.

After resting, the Jackal realized that the room around him was actually an illusion. Even the bed beneath him was fake. He wasn't in Latveria at all, and he figured that out after his technology was returned to him.

Zephyr covered his skin after some time, and a familiar comfort seemed to buzz over Ezekiel's tender soul.

He understood that he'd reached Latverion, not Latveria, and a large number of souls had gathered toward the west side of the planet. "Battleworld" was happening as Ezekiel slept, but… that was fine.

He didn't mind missing out, but his heart began to tune into the people on an individual level.

He started looking for Wade Wilson, and Zephyr ran a scan for his current location. The aloof mercenary was there, as expected, and Zephyr informed him that Sevgili tried to trace his location three thousandsevenhundred andninety eight times.

Hah. Ezekiel had to let out a gentle laugh when he heard that number, because Wade must have been losing his mind. He probably went on a killing spree as well, but Ezekiel didn't mind.

He never had any intention of changing Wade Wilson's profession, and the thought of stopping his homicidal "habits" never crossed the Jackal's mind.

Ezekiel was into it, actually, and his reasoning for all that was ancient history. Ugh… the young man forced himself to rise up, head out, and start again.

He crashed and burned there for a moment, but he felt ready to include himself in all of Doom's battle-themed activities.

Zephyr transported him to the upper level of the colosseum, and Ezekiel started looking over the growing crowd. There was structure and something being organized down on the lower level, but the Jackal wasn't interested in heading that way at all. He decided to engage as a spectator at first, and…

Oh, oh wow. Ezekiel's focus was a bit lost amongst the crowd, and he didn't expect someone's blazing hot presence to cut through the void and distract him that soon.

Wade Wilson was suddenly there, and Ezekiel looked him over beneath his suit. Deadpool kinda leaped up from the bottom pit, and he crash landed and looked up just above Ezekiel's feet.

It was…

It must be hard, being with someone so quiet and gloomy. Ezekiel's mind went in that direction straight away, and Wade saying nothing to him only made it worse. The infamous Deadpool eventually stood tall before him, like a tower.

He was a tower of power, for sure, and the guy was friggen built like a... what's the word? Ezekiel didn't know the slang, and he didn't dare ask. His breath got caught up in his throat, locked up, actually…

Hmm… Shiny was so tense and sooooo nervous when they first stood face to face like that. Wade recalled the moment at his place, and he started thinking about what had changed since then.

Wade's mind went there as he stared at Zephyr beneath his Deadpool suit, and all he wanted to do was take that thing off him once again.

You see, the mercenary accomplished taking Ezekiel's suit off little by little. He was on a mission to get Ezekiel Stane to open up ages ago, since day one.

Over time, the quiet coyote gradually relaxed. Ohhhh he opened up for sure. That nervous kissing got sexier too. Everything was mega heating up between them… as if Ezekiel was melting into it.

Wade pondered that. He recalled those juicy memories too, and he wondered if they were back to square one. Was "Shiny" back in his box agin? His mental collapse?

Was he back in the room his father locked him in… The mercenary had to wonder. Wade didn't mind starting over from scratch, but if they were back to square one, then getting back was gunna take A LOTTA FRIGGEN WORK.

"Hello Wade. Wow, it's been a long time, for sure."

The fuck? EEEEPPP! WADE GASPED OUT LOUD ONCE AGAIN, because another EX somehow creeped out of the dark depths of hell and showed up toward his left. This time it was the one and only Vanessa Carlysle, CODENAME: COPYCAT.

That salty BISHHHHH told him that he was trash, and she left him for some CRAP-STICK named Garrison Kane. Why the FUCK was she there?

And why the fuuuuhhhhhkkkkkk did she have to speak to him in that friggen moment. Where's Garrison now, CHICK. Get lost. Wade's demeanor iced up immediately, and he LASER-FOCUSED on the pearly white suit that was standing in front of him.

"Your freaky math tutor's gunna EFFING DIE. I think he paid everyone I've married or dated to attend this shit-show."

UGH.. Wade gently touched Zephyr's arms, and he tried to sorta walk Robo-Cop off in a completely different direction. Ezekiel was a bit shocked to see the woman who randomly approached Wade.

She was very beautiful. Her skin was ice blue… and, it wasn't hard to figure out what her random greeting meant. Obviously, Wade had been involved with her, and it must have ended on a sour note.

Ezekiel swallowed down a thought or two as he was… moved? Wade walked him off in a different direction and that was, fine.

The Jackal spaced out what he said about Doom, but inviting people involved with Wade was a clever trick. Victor Von Doom was an expert at undermining his enemies, so… Wade was probably right on some level.

Shit. Ezekiel realized he was acting strange. He closed his eyes beneath his armor and he tried to think of what to say. It had been what, a week? They communicated with one another digitally, but seeing Wade there in the flesh was…

It must be hard, being with someone so awkward and distant. Ezekiel recognized the trouble he caused right there in that moment. He felt like a pain in the ass or something.

What was it Wade's friend said? Weasel once explained to Wade that "Robo-Cop" was a sad handful. Ezekiel recalled the unexpected feedback, and he never forgot it.

Oh wow. The baby Jackal maintained his silence for far too long. He kept his eyes closed too, and he told Zephyr to deliver a message to Wade about the two of them speaking alone later on.

He couldn't talk… right now. It felt like his skin was buzzing too, and something had him all freaked out.
