No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2

Chapter 87: Dirthouse (Part 7)

Victor Strange was staring directly at Ezekiel Stane's tricked out suit named Zephyr, and he was trying to get through to the person underneath.

What happened to Wade Wilson was BEYONDDD shocking, and that's an understatement. Victor's baby heart was breaking too, and let's just say a shit storm was brewing down below.

Do you think Victor Von Doom was going to be allowed to just…do that? Yeah, no way…

A number of people confronted Doom about what he did. They were confronting him right there in that moment, but Victor's attention was on his former flame.

Ezekiel was just staring at something in his hand. Something white, and it looked like some sort of orb. Victor tried to talk to him again, while his older brother Stephen dealt with Doom.

Ezekiel Stane couldn't hear Victor Strange at all, and his mind was consumed with thoughts about Wade. Remember, he told the quiet coyote that they'd see each other again in Battleworld.

Before the battle with Doom, Wade assured him that they could talk later, alone. He said you bet.

Wade also gave him some clue into how he was feeling. He wrote him a message about having no regrets. The baby Jackal figured it was was a movie reference, or some silly song.

Ezekiel couldn't have his technology look into who or what Joni Mitchell was in that moment, because his soul was already damaged to the max.

No, his mind, body, and soul kept reflecting. It refused to quit, and all of Zephyr's scans kept getting the same result. There wasn't a trace of Wade Wilson's body to be found, and Ezekiel had expanded the search all over Latverion.

There had to be something, and Ezekiel refused to stop the search.

As the search continued, thoughts of Wade began to haunt Ezekiel's broken soul. He kept his eyes on his left hand as he reflected. The mercenary's playful voice danced around the void as Ezekiel processed the thought of actually losing him.

What he if was… actually gone? Just like that? What if Wade Wilson's beautiful soul was gone for good. That thought was too much for the baby Jackal to bear, and some memories wouldn't quit…

"Hey there, Shiny."

"I do have to say, I was getting used to you being around. At my place, I mean."

"You know, you're a real cutie when you're drunk, and not as cutthroat as you epically portray."

"If everything is still a work in progress for you, or whatever, it's fine. Seriously."

"I was thinking, well, actually I've BEEN thinking that you should just, stay … with… me. At the house. It feels so PB& J there. I really like you, and I think everything just, fits…"

"Hey, blink twice… if you love me?"

Ezekiel blinked twice at the church, and he remembered the moment with a hardened heart. He also did his best to be with Wade, and stay there with him.. at his place.

Someone kept interfering, and the quiet coyote's mind began to settle on that. Things were really progressing between them there, in the Bronx. Ezekiel felt happy for once, with Wade, but one individual kept getting in the way.

"CAN YOU HEAR ME? ZEKE?! You can't space out on us.. OK? DOOM'S NOT GOING TO GET AWAY WITH WHAT HE DID…"

Victor Strange was an adorable human being. Ezekiel was slowly tuning into what was happening beneath his feet for a specific reason, and it had nothing to do with his former partner.

The newly appointed Sorcerer Supreme finally touched Ezekiel's right hand, then he held it gently against his. He held onto the one that didn't have a shiny white orb attached to his palm. It looked kinda like a pearl? Uhh… hold up. Ezekiel actually moved.

Baby Victor watched him actually turn his head. Ezekiel didn't say anything, but he allowed Victor to touch his hand. Touching Zephyr and holding his hand didn't matter, but the person inside the suit? Yeah, that person was FOREVER out of their reach.

Ezekiel declared that to himself as soon as he heard Victor's voice. The baby Supreme said Victor Von Doom wasn't going to get away with what he did to Wade?… Don't make me laugh.

"You don't know how true that statement is, Victor.."

Zephyr's voice cut through the silence, and that pearl white suit eventually turned in Doom's direction. The ruler of Latveria was still there, justifying what he did with his important logic. Ezekiel could see him. He saw them all, actually…

Doctor Doom, Stephen Strange… Steve Rogers and the rest of the lot. They all were there assessing the damage, but there was no greater damage than what's been done to Ezekiel's busted up heart. Call it dramatic if you want, but somebody's gotta pay.

Victor Strange heard Zephyr speak loud and clear. His voice was low, just like the man inside the suit, but the baby sorcerer was more focused on what he said.

He didn't know how true his statement was? What, Yes. Doom's not getting away with what he did to Wade…BUT WHAT DID EZEKIEL PLAN TO DO?.. Victor kinda freaked.

"I've studied my elders and entertained their views for a bit too long. Wouldn't you agree?"

Ezekiel had been more than manipulated, since the beginning. Chained down like a dog, never given a trial, but now Victor Von Doom's taken it way too far. So, in his "suppressed" dormancy… the baby Jackal's been listening, observing and learning.

Learning about everything, from all of them. Learning about all of their clever little tricks…

It's safe to say he's had some hidden tricks of his own, and he was smart enough to know a thing or two about Doom. Ezekiel didn't hear Victor's adorable response.

He kept holding his hand tho… and he stared at the one with the white orb for a long time. Stephen Strange said something noble down below. The Jackal heard those words, but what he said seemed a bit manipulative.

Doctor Strange was specifically telling Ezekiel that the Mystic Arts had the capacity to intervene. They all were trying to tag team Doom, but that definitely wasn't going to work.

No. Doom could only be destroyed from within, and Ezekiel's only goal was to infect Doom's armor and bring him down.
