No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2

Chapter 90: Dirthouse (Part 10)

Victor Von Doom anticipated a bit of backlash, but that level of retaliation was pretty unexpected.

In Doom's opinion, he gave the entire cosmos a beautiful moment of silence, and he spared them all from hearing anything more from that vile buffoon named Wade Wilson.

There was no love in the mix for that obnoxious man, and Doom thought nothing of it after he watched his body burst open at the seams and evaporate into dust….

He'd do it again in a heartbeat, and again, and again… just to rid the world of that MOUTH.

"Harming Wade Wilson was strike three, Doc…"

Hmph…. Apparently someone didn't care for the logic. The lovesick Ezekiel Stane chose to retaliate and avenge his precious pet.

Doom felt like congratulating the young man's efforts at first, until his armor and body suffered under Ezekiel's unbridled wrath.

His armor fell off of his skin in chunks, and Doom was forced to retreat back to his home in Latveria after the fact…

"I know you've been around the block and all, Doctor Doom, but let's remember that metal is metal… and anything built can be undone."

Hearing that was… irritating, and a bit unsettling. Doom welcomed himself into his own workspace after the brawl in the pit, and he had his own technology inspect the damage that had been caused by Ezekiel Stane.

That somber little brat had exposed Doom from within, and that was sending quite a message…

Doom removed the rest of his armor in total silence, then he looked over the areas of his body where his flesh was exposed and damaged.

That peculiar technology was still eating away at his skin, and it behaved like a corrosive bacteria…

What an interesting little … his tiny little machines were designed to destroy anything in its path. Doctor Doom told his own technology to extract the invading material, and he needed multiple tests to be run on what he was seeing.

Doom also checked for damage to his internal organs, because Ezekiel's technology operated like an airborne pathogen as well…

...

Clever little jackal.

...

Doom wasn't as upset with him as you'd think. In fact, he thought of exploiting Ezekiel's wonderful breakthrough in the long run.

He heard someone's "quiet coyote" finally tell members of his "Surveillant Council" that it was time they went their separate ways. That was actually music to Doctor Doom's ears, and he inwardly laughed at the thought of what's coming next.

Could his pathetic Council members live with themselves? They'd have to go back to their own miserable lives, or find someone else to monitor and control…

The notion was hilarious, for Doom…

His attitude toward what happened was mainly being amused with it. If Ezekiel's vile pest of a lover somehow rose out of the ether tomorrow and showed himself, then Doom planned to give him another dirt nap until it became a permanent thing.

"Doom, you have a call from someone by the name of Charles Xavier."

Charles Xavier was actually, calling? How hysterical. Surely the X-Men had some sort of loving connection to the deceased.

The infamous Deadpool once rolled with them at a distance, right? Doom didn't care either way. The man took a moment to think it all over before he answered Xavier's call.

He didn't clean up his appearance either, since Charles was psychic. It made no sense for a person to cover their face and war wounds when one is talking to a psychic.

Doom was very aware of this, so he accepted the call and he allowed Xavier to see the damage.

"I'm curious to know how your Surveillant Council plans to handle this episode…Charles?"

Doom had to laugh. His laugh was soft, and Charles was surprised to have visual access to the inner working of Doom's lab.

The mutant didn't expect to see the aftermath of Ezekiel's pain either. The damage he caused was still being assessed.

There were mutants in that crowd, and a sea of people who had nothing to do with Wade and Doom's violent squabble.

Ezekiel Stane had disappeared. They all knew he'd spent his entire life "off the grid", but now it seemed as if the quiet coyote had become a ghost once again.

Xavier even used something called Cerebro several times to locate Ezekiel's damaged soul, but that only told him that he hadn't made it back to Earth.

He might have remained in Latverion, or perhaps Ezekiel went somewhere else entirely.

His soul was missing, he felt out of reach, and it's safe to say Xavier had grown attached. He simply needed to make sure Ezekiel would be okay, and he wanted to speak to his former mentor about what happened in the pit.

Xavier needed to pick Doom's brain about a number of things, so yes… the mutant decided to place an unexpected call.
