No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2
Chapter 93: Prince of Darkness (Part 3)
…
The best thing about being in a relationship with a super nerd… was watching that super nerd work on something..
…
Steve Rogers was low-key obsessed with it, and he thought that over as he got extra comfy in his chair. Everyone left Tony's largest workspace, in Manhattan, and the two of them were left alllll alone with his current project.
That "project" was Wade Wilson's decimated body, and Tony was all over documenting what was happening with it. Steve asked if he could stick around, and naturally… the sassy brunette arched a brow.
Was Steve Rogers gunna sketch the table or something? Tony inwardly lol'd at the thought, but ultimately, he couldn't deny the blonde a damn thing.
SO, there they both were… staring at a table topped with a haul of dirt. It wasn't DIRT, but Tony hadn't had a chance to properly explain what everyone was looking at.
…
The chance to properly explain things happened AFTER everyone left his thinking space, except for Steve. That cutie pie was always welcome… and Tony held back a smile when he made himself all comfy and cozy. How fucking cute…
…
Anyway. Back to the subject at hand. Tony took advantage of Steve's adorable presence, and he started walking that ray of sunshine through what happened to Wade step by step.
First, there was a brief explanation about that soul-sucking suit Tony was working on before Battleworld… remember?
…
"I used that suit to preserve his soul. I slipped it over Wade's body when nobody was looking. In fact, I made MY move as soon as Doom invited Wade to join him down in the pit. You're actually looking at my tech…shattered to dust."
…
Ohhhhh. Steve's adorable jaw was half open as he processed the information that Tony finally cared to share.
The blonde followed that info with ease, and he was inwardly glad to know Tony's "soul-sucking" technology wasn't used in some way against Ezekiel Stane.
It seemed like THOSE TWO were going to fight or something, and yes… Tony eventually told him why he was behaving differently towards the somber Jackal. The explanation made sense, so…
…
"I sent my tech back to Manhattan as soon as the blast took place, and what was left was completely obliterated by Doom's sneak attack. I ran a scan for Ezekiel's technology before you and I left Latverion… and, yeah… Wade's armor was torched."
…
Tony absentmindedly shrugged his shoulders when he thought over Ezekiel losing his precious tech. That armor was named "Sevgili" and there was sooooo much going on behind the scenes with that name.
Tony recalled the first day he heard the name, but he knew good and well that the "quiet coyote" could replace that tech in a manner of days.
Ezekiel was probably working on that in that moment, but... who really knew for sure?…
…
Okay. Steve was following along and hanging onto every word that was heading in his direction, but a question arose about Wade's body.
How long would it take for him to return to normal? WOULD HE ACTUALLY BE THE SAME? And, can one truly preserve a person's … soul?
Tony was in possession of the Soul Stone, so…how did that factor into what was happening as well? Steve Rogers had sooooo many questions, and his heart just about burst when he noticed something take place on the table in question.
That "dirt" moved a half-inch inward. AH! It looked like it was… grouping together. Oh wow. Tony's focus lit up as soon as he saw his "test subject" make its first move.
Wade's remains behaved like a magnet. He really had the most fascinating body that Tony Stark had ever seen. He briefly made a comment, and Steve glanced in his direction as soon as he heard it.
He said, Wade Wilson's body was the best thing for modern science… and that notion made the blonde smile a little.
Who knew what else Tony had been doing with the data he'd been collecting off of Wade. It felt like a good time to ask him about it, but Steve's pulse picked up when he saw something move over the table once again.
It startled the soldier boy, for sure, but Tony's focus on it was something to behold.
…
Tony inched his way closer to the table, and he leaned down and looked at it up close. What's left of Wade's "body" was definitely separating itself, and pooling together toward the center of the table.
Tony had a map of what was his technology, and what was Wade's remains...
The two weren't sticking together at all. In fact, one section of "dirt" was staying in one place, while another section of it was pulling together.
Fuckiiiinnnggggg fascinating. Tony was beyond hooked, and he kept on inspecting the progress.
