No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor) - Part 2

Chapter 96: Prince of Darkness (Part 6)

So, that somber/silent little "Prince of Darkness" told himself that he was beyond the levels of being mentally exhausted, and he'd been looking at a sea of data for far too long.

Ezekiel Stane rubbed his left eye for a long while, then he started looking over toward Wade's shower.

He was making his EXIT out of S.H.I.E.L.D. and S.H.A.D.O.W., while also getting everything lined up in order to finally say goodbye to his Surveillant Council.

In another aspect, Ezekiel was putting something together in order to give Victor Von Doom a farewell as well….

It wasn't as easy as he thought it would be, because Ezekiel had gotten used to their input, council, and … their guidance.

There was a bittersweet thing going on within Ezekiel's soul, but… ultimately, the baby Jackal figured it was for the best. He had two separate plans in mind about what he wanted to do for himself going forward, and in that moment, one of those plans held more weight.

The thought of joining Wade in hell kept filling his head, and every now and then Ezekiel would look around him and try to find something that could make that happen.

Taking an obscene amount of medicine was one way to go, but that was…

Ezekiel didn't really like the idea, but the thoughts kept coming back to haunt him. So, at some point he removed himself from Wade's bed, and he poked around his medicine cabinet. He did it to shut his own mind up, maybe….

The small cabinet above the sink was packed full with a bunch of stuff. Ezekiel had to comb through it for a while before he could find anything that would actually work in his favor.

Someone had a prescription for a super strong sedative… probably one of Wade's ex wives. Anyway, the baby Jackal looked over the prescription, then he closed his eyes and simply left it beside the sink.

He hated the idea of leaving like that, so he changed his mind and took a shower instead. The shower helped him clear his mind a little, but then some memories creeped in and made it awful.

The whole experience of being there after "Battleworld" was just… awful. Ezekiel hated every second that just ticked on by…

That "quiet coyote" was mentally "off the grid" … let's not forget, and he had no idea that Wade Wilson was putting on a pair of shoes in that precise moment.

His body was fully regenerated, and the only obstacle ahead of him had to do with Ezekiel's Stalker Council.

They all wanted to talk to Wade. HAH. Go figure? The mercenary was fully dressed when their friggen ZOOM meeting took place, and it only served to be some sort of a check in. A status update, cool. Whatever.

"I just have one request before I go… because you're not gunna NOT let me leave."

Right? Did that come out right? Wade had to double check what he actually said. That "Surveillant Council" understood exactly what he said, and he saw a couple nods. Ooh Wade even saw an actual smile.

That smile came from Charles Xavier, so kudos to him for being a bundle of joy.

Wade's "request" was pointed more toward Tony Stark. Uhh… the mercenary was missing something, a big something, and he felt pretty naked without it.

So, the merc glanced down at his hand, then he scratched at the back of his hair a bit before he actually voiced his request. The Council was all ears, and Wade was allowed to freely move about Tony's lab.

They were finally talking, and that was good… Wade was about to take off… but…

"Can I… can you make me another one of those? Mine is gone, obviously, but we're still kinda just wearing them, and I don't want to …not have it. We're not married or anything, but it just… I don't want to not have it."

Word salad. Deal with it. Wade kinda cringed at his own request, but he goofed his way through his point and Tony actually understood what the man was saying.

Tony Stark glanced down at his own hand, because he was still wearing the small wedding band that Ezekiel had made everyone who helped him infiltrate the Church of Human Potential.

Steve Rogers was wearing one as well, and the blonde decided to make things easier on Wade in every possible way.

The soldier boy very much understood what he was saying, so Steve gave Tony a small smile, just before he took off his own ring.

"Here. You can borrow mine, until we can get you a new one…"

WHOA! WAIT, NO SHIT? Wade's jaw dropped down to Steve's shoes after he heard that.

Not only did he get the shirt off of Captain America's back, but he also got the opportunity to wear his ring.. AND maybe his underwear too? Get the fuck outta here. Wade was just…starstruck.

The council saw how happy he was, and they all had some thoughts to work out when it came down to him actually being ALIVE.

It definitely was something to process, for sure, because Wade Wilson truly was one of a kind…

Now, did you know it's only nine miles to the Bronx from the fancy pants section of Manhattan? Wade Wilson found that out just before he took off.

He thanked Steve Rogers for being so kind… then he left the Surveillant Council in his dust.

Getting to Ezekiel was HIS priority, remember him? So he left them to "deliberate" the details… or whatever.
