No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 2
Chapter 3: The Tiger Striped Cat (Part 3)
When Wade Wilson wanted to go out and do something, he usually went to a bar that was down the street from his home.
He told Ezekiel that a while ago tho, so.. Wade also asked Ezekiel to join him, but he always declined. Obadiah's son still wasn't used to freedom. He grew up living in an enclosed space. He was hidden, and supposedly safe.
He was just branching out, until he got hurt. That was Wade's fault, so…
Ezekiel wondered if that was why "Deadpool" let him stay there, at his messy home. He was aware that Wade had a friend named Weasel too. They technically met when Ezekiel first showed up in the living room.
Wade told him to get lost.
The friend was on Ezekiel's mind in that moment, because he was about to accept Wade's repeated invitation.
He was staring at a set of coordinates within his suit. It suddenly felt strange where he stood. Ezekiel found himself wanting to experience things differently. Maybe. He wasn't sure.
The "White Jackal" understood that he wasn't normal. He only witnessed what he perceived as normal as he grew up.
Thinking about being a bystander to what was "normal" or not normal was causing a stir as well. He wanted to leave Wade's home, and…
Ezekiel kept staring at the coordinates until he told his suit to go to the location. The bar was full of people and Wade was sitting across from his friend.
Weasel saw Ezekiel first. He said "RoboCop" was back, but Obadiah's son didn't understand the reference. He just awkwardly stood in the bar, while Wade turned and looked in his direction.
He made a comment. Of course. He told Ezekiel that tomorrow was his big day. He was talking about leading the S.H.I.E.L.D. mission and protecting Tony Stark.
That required some level of trust, so Wade told him that was worth celebrating. He asked Ezekiel if he wanted a drink.
Wade was wearing his Deadpool costume. He was out in public with it, and everyone around the bar seemed to be accepting of who he was.
It was, interesting. Ezekiel waited there for a moment. He heard Weasel laugh. His slow reaction to Wade must have been amusing for his friend, or something.
Ezekiel just stood there. He felt very out of place. He always felt that way, and he wanted to head back to …Wade's home. But…
"One drink. Then we'll go. Deal?"
Wade's voice cut through the void in the suit. Ezekiel's focus returned to the moment, then he looked over at the empty bar stool.
It seemed like Deadpool saved a seat for him. Weasel started wiping down the bar as he stared at Ezekiel's suit. The friend made a comment that he didn't know what RoboCop looked like.
He kept talking to Wade and asking him who he was. The man was very sarcastic.
"One drink?"
For Ezekiel, alcohol was also something that was foreign to him. He took a few steps toward the tall chair, then he looked around the bar again.
He did a quick scan, and he could see a massive amount of weapons. Most of the people in the bar were heavily armed.
"These guys are friends. They've got my back so, that means they have yours."
Wade's voice broke something again as Ezekiel kept studying the group. A few of the men were older and so were their weapons.
Ezekiel calculated the risk and he determined that he could kill them all if he had to. Wade told his friend Weasel to pour him a drink. Another comment followed.
Wade glanced over toward that white suit. It clicked open once again, and the person inside it revealed himself. Ezekiel sat down at the bar beside Wade and he looked down at the drink.
"That's some tough stuff there, so take it easy."
Or don't. Wade smiled all the same. Ezekiel saw the smile beneath the mask. He knew that Wade had the ability to appear like his normal self, so he wondered why he kept dressing up as Deadpool.
Maybe he forgot what freedom felt like. Maybe, he became too used to covering his body and face. Either way, Ezekiel understood…
Wade watched him pick up the short glass of liquor. He held it in his hand for a moment. The color of the liquid was gold and Ezekiel drank it quickly.
He also watched his father drink. His father didn't suffer from any sort of alcohol addiction, like both Howard and Tony Stark.
His father used alcohol to establish comfort and status. Obadiah used it as a tool and it worked in his favor all the time.
Ezekiel set the glass down, then he asked Weasel for another.
"I'd pay good money to see you drunk."
Wade's voice was always playful. Ezekiel kept staring at the glass as the comment washed over him.
He wasn't sure how alcohol would make him behave, but for some reason Ezekiel wanted to try. He looked over at Wade then he gave just a small nod as a response.
Wade even saw a small smile over there as Ezekiel took another drink. Finishing the first drink meant they could head back to Wade's place, right?
That plan was growing on the both of them, but Wade was taking his time and humoring his friend. Weasel seemed very confused, but he didn't ask about anything else.
Weasel said he just pours the drinks.
