19. Forgiveness Is Never Guaranteed

"Conrad, what would you had done..." Scott didn't finish the question, the look on Conrad's face was enough.

"There was something wrong with that rescue, Scott," Conrad murmured, not daring to raise his voice, fearing he wouldn't be able to control the volume once he got going, "John, and Spectrum, have proven that much."

He had to stop.

He had to breath.

"If you had died, I would have found the person, or persons, involved and made certain they regretted that that their grandparents ever met and had the misfortune of conceiving the children that lead to their miserable existence."

Conrad had to pause again.

"And I would never forgive Virgil."
