No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 2
Chapter 45: Emberkreiss (Part5)
It took Steve more than a couple hours to complete his sketch of Tony. The soldier realized there were a lot of interesting details going on around Tony while he worked inside that lab. The Mystic Arts fascinated Steve, so he took his time with his drawing.
Tony, on the other hand, was just about done with his project. He explained to Steve that he designed Victor's amulet to contain any energy heading his way from the Vishanti trio. The amulet was designed to have the energy bypass traveling through his body, so Victor wouldn't be physically affected. Tony took the final bite of his sandwich as he explained the whole thing.
Steve was following along, and the blonde was vibing with what Tony was saying. He wondered HOW Tony Stark was able to do all of that sort of stuff. It baffled his 1930s themed brain every time Tony explained what he was doing. Steve was beyond impressed. He kept looking at his Little Red Corvette, then he smiled.
"I think Oshtur's already given Victor her seal of approval. I'll let you handle that, and Hoggoth won't be a problem, I thinkā¦"
That left Agamotto. Steve's focus dipped down toward the table as soon as the third Vishanti entity crossed his mind. Agamotto was very attached to Stephen Strange, and he wasn't very collaborative. Steve saw a problem brewing with that one in their future, and he briefly wondered if Tony had brought any of it up to Stephen. Victor's brother planned to remain with his wife and daughter in the Dark Dimension, so Steve became curious about how everything would carry out.
"Only Stephen can get Agamotto on board. That's up to the great wizard supreme to sort out."
Tony and Steve's minds we're in an alignment at the moment. Steve listened to him as he spoke out loud and finished up his work. The blonde watched those hands as Tony used a tool to snap a chain. The brunette was securing the left side of the amulet, then he draped the finished product over the front of his chest. Steve smiled at what he saw, then he stood up.
"Those look like, portals?"
"Yes, you can think of them as portals. Three portals, for three Vishanti beasts. Each one has to hold in their own individual energy, so, of course you can't buy this material at your local hardware store."
No friggen way. Also, back in the day, Tony really did his homework and he studied the amulet that Stephen always wore around his neck. The "Eye" of Agamotto was made out of technology that was hard for the Average Joe to comprehend, but, Tony Stark was born to forge. He figured out what it was, then he used his technology years ago to gather up what he needed.
Steve hesitated for a moment, but he slowly brought his hand up to the amulet. He eventually touched what Tony's mind had constructed. Steve took note of the details, then he started looking over a couple inscriptions. The amulet had three spheres within each of the portals. He glanced up at Tony with a question.
"Why do I feel like Victor will be able to access Oshtur's realm, through this?"
"He'll have to, just like you and I do when shit goes south."
They had the ability to go to the three Vishanti realms if need be. Tony was giving Victor Strange VIP access, because he was going to need it as the next Sorcerer Supreme. Tony's confidence with Victor was unspoken at that point, but he was more than happy to help him succeed. He absolutely adored Stephen's baby brother. Tony felt very protective of him, so he devised a loophole and made it work.
Steve Rogers was full of questions. He studied the amulet in front of him for a little longer, then he shot another question about it in Tony's direction.
"But, how will this thing know that Victor's the one wearing the amulet? Will it pull from the Vishanti for anyone wearing it?"
"Steve, the amulet doesn't know shit. We will know, and the Vishanti trio will know. Victor will borrow energy from them, through us, and through this amulet."
Tony LOL'd after he responded to Steve's adorable question. Obviously, the bright lightbulb of knowledge went off in Steve's head after he heard the final explanation. The blonde started behaving as if he were a kid in a candy store as he processed. Tony felt very amused with what he was seeing. Steve studied the amulet for a bit longer, then he looked at Tony's expression.
The brunette started rubbing on the left side of his face. Tony's eyes were a bit strained, and he seemed exhausted. The blonde gave him a small smile, then he quietly mentioned to Tony that he needed to get some sleep. He even said something about the two of them spending the day together, because Victor Strange was promised an entire day to "train" Ezekiel.
Oh? Really now? Tony arched an eyebrow, because that blonde was trying to smooth talk him into something once again. Steve Rogers spoke quietly, and strategically. He doubled down on his point. He told Tony that the Kamar taj was no place for a person to get some decent rest. Their bed in Brooklyn was waiting, and better for them in the long run. Tony held back a smile as Steve carried on.
Yeah? Their bed in Brooklyn? The brunette playfully rolled his eyes. Steve was being sweet, and acting all cute once again.
The conversation that was taking place before Tony finished the amulet crossed his mind for a moment, but then he took in the look on Steve's face. That golden thing said he'd die before he slept on another Kamar taj bed, and Tony's composure cracked once again. He gently laughed at what was happening, then he gave Steve several nods. He agreed to head back to New York, with him.
Of course he did. Tony smiled there for a sec. Steve was being sweet on him, and the brunette was never able to resist.
