I don't own Fate/Grand Order or it's related fandoms and characters. The same applies to any other fictional work(s) that may be referenced. And be warned that some non-OC characters might be OOC.

WARNING: This work may mention heavy topics such as depression, low self-worth, PTSD and survivor's guilt. If any of those topics is a trigger to you, please do not proceed. And know that if this entire world seems to be against you or to not care about you, at the very least this author, a complete stranger, cherishes you, so don't give up for hope is the last flame that shall be extinguished.

Chapter 1

A lonely young man sat in a field. To his left, an endless expanse of red roses. To his right, an endless expanse of white roses.

A permanent reminder of his sins.

Loud and bright explosions seemed to consume the world, before it settled in dust and darkness. When the young man became aware of his surroundings, all he saw was death and destruction.

His home city had been nuked.

For despite being undeserving, he had received the greatest of gifts.

And he had proved his worthless nature by wasting it.

Initially, the young man panicked, but a voice made all his fears disappear. The voice, echoing inside his head, said he still had work to do.

So he got up, and searched for people in need of help.

The voice guided him to those that were desperate for aid, comfort or help of any kind. When he opened his palms and extended them towards these people, flaming roses blossomed from his hands and cured all that afflicted those people.

After they were healed, he told them to go in the direction that the voice told him, and should they follow, no further harm would come to them.

And then he would continue his search for more people.

But despite how many thousands he may have saved, millions more would be beyond his help.

So even after all those that could be aided left the zone of radiation, he kept searching, believing that his work was not done yet, for the voice had not told him to stop. But neither did it guide him any longer, for after the last person was cured, it had simply gone silent.

But despite endlessly searching, he found no more living people, for there was no one left to be found.

He had been given guidance by a higher power, something many people prayed for their entire lives.

He had been given power to save people, and heal them from the worst of ailments.

But ultimately, he had not saved enough people.

It would never be enough.

As his strength slowly dwindled, he soon found himself on his last breaths.

But before he departed, he saw a Church. And finding strength when there shouldn't be any left, he entered.

He kneeled in front of the image of his Savior, closed his eyes and prayed.

For his people, who were facing a calamity that took their homes and loved ones.

For his enemies, who despite being aware of their own actions, didn't understand the depths of what they were doing.

For his world, that seemed to be walking towards self-destruction.

And lastly, he apologized for not saving enough people.

And wished that he could have saved more.

The young man looked at his hands, as a flaming rose blossomed there.

Despite it all, he would never stop hopping for a better future.

A world like the one he was told about in his childhood.

Where there is no strife, nor hatred.

A world of love and acceptance.

Where everyone can hold hands together and look forward to an even brighter future, united as one.

A sudden bright blue light forced him to open his eyes.

And he saw the World.

The same voice that had guided him before echoed in his head once more, and asked if he wanted the power to save many more.

He said yes.

And then he died.

Bound to the Counter Force, he became a tool to kill those who threatened mankind.

But he never let his heart lose it's compassion.

For every person he killed, he planted a red rose in his Reality Marble. For every he failed to save, he planted a white rose.

And the flaming rose of hope, the weapon he used to slay many, and the source of his healing power as well, that one he planted in his heart.

So it may grow undeterred, protected by him from the ugliness of his afterlife.

And his name, Jacob Stone, would never be known to those whose only proof of existence now are the roses in his twisted mind.

The lonely young man then felt a certain pull.

The flames in his hands were extinguished.

And he disappeared in motes of silver light.

For the Heroic Spirit ROSES had been called once more to aid humanity.

After the whole "Arcueid is Type Earth" reveal, I decided to permanently stop writing "A new Servant's Journey". But I decided to give another try to this character. His hair and eyes are now both silver, and his skin is pale like Ryouma. He wears a double patterned haori, like Tomioka from Demon Slayer, but the patterns are white roses in a black background and red roses in a sky blue background.

For his Noble Phantasm, depending on whether the Buster or Arts version was chosen, the effects will be different, but it is considered a single Noble Phantasm. His secondary Noble Phantasm, the Reality Marble, is one he does not use for combat.

His stats are as follows:

Class: Caster

Origin: Modern Age (Age of Humanity)

Region: Unknown

Alignment: Neutral-Good

Gender: Male

Parameters

STR: A | END EX

AGL: A+ | MP: EX

LUK: B | NP: EX

Skills

Magic Resistance [EX]: The flames of hope in Jacob's heart burn away the effects of almost every harmful magecraft, protecting him from sorcerers of any kind.

Territory Creation [EX]: He can manifest a flaming garden that, despite it's name and seemingly harmful appearance, is capable of healing nearly everything, as long as the target is still alive, or in the case of Servants, still manifested.

Mind's Eye (True) [A]: Capable of calm analysis of the abilities of the opponent as well as the battle conditions even when in danger and deduce an appropriate course of action after considering all possibilities to escape from a predicament.

Independent Action [A+]: The Servant can operate without a Master. With a Rank of A+ that exceeds even A, the support of a Master is unnecessary even while unleashing a large amount of Magical Energy. It is an ability that bends the rules and allows for the continued materialisation of Servants even after the conclusion of a Holy Grail War.

Noble Phantasms

Flame of Hope [EX]: An Anti-Star Noble Phantasm, nurtured by Jacob during his eternity as a Counter Guardian, that surprisingly takes the form of a fiery bird instead of a rose should it be used to attack, but retains his plant theme should it be used to aid his allies. If it is used to attack, it can burn away any enemy, regardless of Fire or Magic Resistance. Anyone touched by the flames, so long as they are deemed enemies by Jacob and survive the attack, will keep burning until they die, and this effect cannot be undone by anyone except Jacob. Should it be used to aid his allies on the battlefield, those touched by the flames will be cleansed from the effects of harmful magecraft and restored to an unharmed state.

Garden of Despair [?]: Represents the endless mourning for the deaths Jacob believes himself to be responsible for, be it directly or indirectly. Those who enter this garden will realize the True Nature of Jacob as a Servant, but in exchange, his True Name and stats are hidden to those who have not entered, to the point where even those with clairvoyance skills cannot see who he is or what his feats are. In a sense, he is hidden from the eyes of all except Alaya.
