Tanjiro (3rd Person POV):

Tanjiro woke with a groggy start. He looked around, but it didn't trigger anything. He saw a group of dead people in the house in front of him. They made him hungry. It was weird. Since when did he crave human flesh? Tanjiro tried to run them, but he was hungry. However, something stopped him. The people in front looked familiar. They looked like him. Why did they look like him? His mind was still trying to get his body to move towards them, but his body wouldn't listen as if they were his family. Then, suddenly, pain shot through his entire body as memories flooded through him. Memories of the people in front of him laughing, playing, and eating with him. Then it hit him; these peoplewerehis family. How could he try to eat his own family? What exactly happened last night?

Tanjiro remembered ignoring the old man's warnings about demons roaming at night and continuing his journey up the mountain. Once he returned, he saw a man in a black and white suit attacking his family, but he carried no weapon. The man had black hair, and his eyes were as red as blood. Tanjiro ran to the man. "Leave my family alone, a*hole," he shouted as he ran. But the other man was faster.

In a blink of an eye, he ran towards Tanjiro. "You wear his earrings, so you must possess his breathing style. I'll make you a demon like your sister in hopes one of you will concur the sun."

"Who are you?" Tanjiro asked.

"My name is Muzan, but you will call me master," the man said. Then Tanjiro felt a sharp pain before blacking out.

He thought about that man's words as he looked back at his family. The words 'demons' and 'sister' run through his head on repeat. What did the man mean? Then, it hit him. He ran towards his sister, Nezuko, and checked her pulse. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding as he felt her pulse and warmth. If the man's words were true, he and Nezuko were demons. Tanjiro knew that once Nezuko woke up, she would be a demon.

After looking around, he grabbed some rope and tied his sister to a tree. He hated doing this, but he knew it was for her own good. He grabbed the shovel and started to remove the snow and dirt. Tanjiro thought about his family as he dug their graves. He hated goodbyes, but he knew they were a part of life. He started by picking up Rokuta, his youngest brother. He remembered how the little boy would cling to him whenever he could. Tanjiro looked so much like their father before he passed from his illness.

Tanjiro's eyes started to water as he lowered the younger boy into the ground. He also did the same with his other siblings and even his mother. The tears flowed down more and more as he went.

As he continued burying his family, he thought about what would have happened if he had stayed with them last night instead of going to sell charcoal. Or what would have happened if he had listened to the old man? Would he still be alive right now, or even a demon? Would he have been human instead? Since he was a demon, what changes did his body go through? This question was answered as he picked up his mother to place her in the final grave. He realized that he had become stronger due to his transformation.

But his thoughts still ran back to his sister. Would she really become a demon like him? If so, would she also become stronger as a result? How would they survive now? Would people try and kill them? Is there a way to reverse the transformation? So many unanswered questions ran through his head, but they all disappeared as he heard his sister waking up. He turned around and watched as she opened her eyes, but they weren't their normal color. So he was right; she was a demon.

Nezuko's eyes were drawn to the blood in the house, drool coming out of her mouth. She tries to get out of the ropes holding her down. Tanjiro saw what was happening and ran towards her. "Nezuko, look at me. It's me, Tanjiro, your brother," he shouted as he grabbed her face, forcing her to look at him. Nezuko looked at the boy, angry. He was stopping her from eating, and she was hungry. Then, she froze as tears ran down her face.

"O-Oni-chan," Nezuko said through tears, "Is it really you?". Tanjiro sighed, relieved that she had come to her senses.

"Yes, Nezuko, it's me," Tanjiro slightly chuckled in relief. He untied his sister, and as soon as the ropes came loose, Nezuko tightly hugged her brother. "It's alright," he said calmly, rubbing her back soothingly, "Your big brother is here."

"W-what happened?" She asked through her tears. Tanjiro explained what he remembered from when he ignored the old man's warning to when she woke up. "I see," the girl said after she had calmed down. "So what should we do now?"

"Well, a few things come to mind," Tanjiro said. For starters, we'll have to grab some things and leave home. We can't stay here anymore as it is no longer safe. We'll also have to find another way to survive without eating humans since that isn't an option for us. We also need to adjust to our new bodies till we can find a way to turn back into humans again." Nezuko nodded and got to work, grabbing some clothes and valuables from the house. Tanjiro followed suit and did the same. They did their best to ignore the smell of blood and found that some of their mom's old handkerchiefs helped with the smell.

After packing a few things, they started leaving the house. As they left the building, Tanjiro's senses went off. "NEZUKO!" He shouted as he grabbed his sister, held her close, and dodged the attack from above."I missed,"thought the strange man. "WHO ARE YOU?! AND WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM US?!" Tanjiro shouted in a rage.

"My name is Giyu Tomioka, and I'm a demon slayer. I have come to kill you both. So let's make this easier for all of us and die." Tanjiro stared at the man intently. He knew that he wasn't letting them go with a fight."I just need to temporarily put him out of commission or even knock him out so Nezuko and I can escape."Tanjiro thought to himself.

"Nezuko, don't interfere, let me handle this."

"Okay, Oni-chan." Nezuko held the two bags of supplies as she watched her brother face the stranger face to face, neither of them moving. However, that changed when the man charged at them. Her brother did the same. The man had a blade in his hand and was ready to attack, but Tanjiro continued to charge, dodging the attack and hitting the man with enough form in the back of the neck to render him unconscious. But the man didn't let him get away from him unscathed. Tanjiro looked down; he could see the man's blade in his stomach."How? I thought I dodged it."Tanjiro thought to himself. Without thinking, he pulled out the sword, and the wound instantly closed up. Nezuko rushed to her brother to check up on him.

"We should get out of here," Tanjiro said, slightly out of breath. His sister nodded, and they ran deep into the forest, hoping to find shelter and protection from the harsh reality they were now thrown into.

Giyu (1st PersonPOV):

I followed my crow up the snowy mountain. I was stopped by a lady in the town beneath the mountain telling me about the noises heard up there last night where a family was living. Furthermore, an older gentleman told me that a boy who lived up there with his family had ignored his warnings about demons being out at night. I wondered how he knew about demons, but I didn't have time to dwell on it too much; I had a mission to fulfill. So I continued running up the mountain, side hoping I wasn't too late and the family might still be alive.

This feeling of hope, however, was short-lived. I stopped before I reached the forest clearing to see most of the family murdered in the house while one boy who matched the man's description was farther away from the house, dead nonetheless. I was too late.

As I turned around to leave and report to Master, I heard groaning behind me. Someone was still alive. I turned around to see the boy slowly getting up. He didn't do anything at first, but then I watched as he slowly walked toward the rest of the people as he was drooling from his mouth. He was a demon. I grabbed my sword and got ready to kill him when he suddenly stopped. He froze in place and then grabbed his head in pain before looking at the family in front of him. He seemed to be thinking before taking off towards the family once again.

But this time, it was different. It wasn't hunger. It was out of concern. A demon, being concerned for what they considered food? That was something I had never seen before. I decided to observe for now and watch what he would do. He stayed in place, contemplating something, before moving to one of the people near the house. He grabbed her wrist and... Was he checking for a pulse?! If he was, he seemed to have found one. He quickly went inside and grabbed a rope before grabbing the girl and tying her up. What was he doing? Was he tying her up to eat later? But then why only her? Was I because she was still alive? This demon was a strange one.

He returned to the house, coming out with a shovel. I watched as this demon started digging. Why was he digging? I watched as he grabbed a little boy and placed him in one of the holes in the ground. Did he dig graves for the family that lived here? He continued doing this routine with the rest of the family members. The demon even picked up the adult woman with ease as he placed her into the last grave before burying them. Then, an audible groan could be heard, and the demon and I turned the girl to the tree which had woken up.

He eyed the girl intently, and when he saw her try and break free to get to the blood still in the house, he rushed towards her. He forced the girl to look at him as he spoke to her. Unfortunately, I was too far away to hear what they were saying. But I noticed that the girl seemed to have calmed down because the other demon had removed the restraining rope. As soon as the ropes were entirely removed, she threw herself onto the boy while just holding her in his arms, trying his best to soothe her.

"I have never seen two demons act like this before. Maybe they are different."I thought to myself,"No, get it together, Giyu. All demons are the same. They are evil and only see humans as a food source. I'll continue to watch for now to see what they will do."The two continued to talk before getting up and walking into the house."Its now or never, as soon as they exit the house, I'll cut off their heads."As soon as I saw them, I drew my blade and jumped. However, just as I was about to land a strike in, it seemed that the boy had sensed me coming.

"NEZUKO!" He screamed as he grabbed the girl and pulled her close to him as he dodged my attack."Damn it, I missed."I thought to myself. The boy shouted at me with anger in his tone. "WHO ARE YOU?! AND WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM US?!"

"My name is Giyu Tomioka, and I'm a demon slayer. I have come to kill you both. So let's make this easier for all of us and die." I answered in my usual tone. He then stepped in front of the girl.

"Nezuko, don't interfere, let me handle this." He said.

"Okay, Oni-chan," she replied."So they're siblings. Must be nice. Nonetheless, they are still demons, and I am a demon slayer. I must kill them."

I drew my blade and ran forward towards the boy who also ran at me. For some reason, I couldn't sense any killing intent from him. Usually, a demon had some form of killing intent, no matter how weak, but this was different. I continued to charge toward the boy and somehow drove my sword through his stomach as he tried to dodge it. However, I felt a pain in the back of my neck before blacking out."How did he manage to knock me out?!"I thought. I knew I was done for and would be eaten for sure."How did I manage to be defeated by a recently turned demon?! I'm the Water Hashira."

But when I opened my eyes, I was still at the house in the forest on the mountain, where I encountered the two demons. I looked to my right to find my sword where the demon boy was. However, neither he nor the girl were still there. All I saw were footprints leaving the place. I knew they were gone, and trying to chase them would be pointless. I would lose their trail once they made it off the mountain. I decided to go back to the headquarters and report this to Master.

After I gave my report, I continued with my day. But occasionally, I would return to that place to find it exactly how I left it that day. I also tried searching for those two demons, but my efforts turned out fruitless. For the next three years, I wondered if I would ever see them again. And I never knew when this question would be answered.
