No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 2

Chapter 59: Istanbul (Part 9)

Victor Strange ventured up to the side of the Kamar taj that received the most damage. He noticed three people up in the construction zone, but only two of them made him smile. Steve and Ezekiel were a welcomed sight, but the third person on the roof could fall down the nearest cliff and die at any point. Victor secretly hoped to witness it…..

Oh wait, the fucker couldn't die for some reason. Joy.

"HI VICTOR. WELCOME BACK."

Wade Wilson gave Victor a friendly, yet strategically pleasant greeting. The baby Strange approached the three with caution, and he returned the NOISY gesture with a blank stare. Wade fucking Wilson was actually wearing a reflective safety vest. Victor briefly wondered where he got it, then he refocused on Steve Rogers. He was beyond happy to see Steve, so he smiled more in his direction.

"Hi Steve. Where's your other half?"

Steeeeeevvvveee. Victor was eager to hear the soldier's response, oh, and he showed everyone the plans that were given to him by Wong. Victor set the building plans down where it seemed safe. Steve Rogers let out an awkward laugh. Well, his other half was left behind in California. Steve tensed up a bit, because the question was pretty unexpected.

The blonde could tell he was burning down walls and bridges with Tony, so the sharp pain of regret started swarming all around his beautiful soul. Steve hesitated and he awkwardly laughed off the question. He decided to give Victor, Ezekiel and Wade a response after some time, but Steve had to cringe his way through it.

"He… Tony's in California. I'm in a bit of hot water with him, for the moment."

Steve pointed at the plans. The blue prints for the Kamar taj seemed like the perfect distraction. Reactions to what Steve said were mixed. Victor was surprised to hear what he said, so…. he slowly and carefully glanced over at the only person who hadn't said a word. Ezekiel was simply observing everyone. He was taking in how everyone spoke and interacted, and he worked on fixing the wall at the same time.

Hearing that Steve Rogers was in "hot water" with his other half was, interesting, but Ezekiel displayed no emotion. He looked for that emotion when his focus went in Victor's direction. When the Jackal looked at him, he saw confusion and warmth. Victor asked Steve another question, because curiosity quickly took over the chat.

"What did you do?"

HAH. Steve's grin was enormous. He put it point blank that he wasn't going to discuss it. No way. Steve made sure they all focused on the ancient plans that were put in their path. They had a ton of work to do, and Steve was grateful for the distraction. Speaking of distraction, Victor made the mistake of looking over in Wade's direction.

The guy somehow had a full construction outfit on all of a sudden, and Victor began to think the guy was some sort of cartoon. Wade Wilson didn't seem real. He was insane, and…. Speaking of insane, Victor tried to keep his cool. Wade picked his side to work on, so he casually whipped out a small silver machine that generated music. A bizarre and RANDOM AS FUHHKK song came on, and Mr. Psycho Random Construction Worker started casually singing.

"Ladies, move. Gentlemen, move. Somebody ring the alarm, a fire on the roof. Ring the alarm, I'm throwin' elbows. Ring the alarm, I'm throwin' elbows."

Steve laughed at Wade's music first. He had noooooooo idea what the mercenary was grooving to, but the blonde was immediately amused. His second reaction was to glance over in Ezekiel's direction. The blonde was specifically interested in watching him in that moment, because he didn't want a war to break out amongst the group.

In Steve's opinion, Ezekiel's behavior around Wade was worth witnessing, and he wasn't the only person who felt that way. Victor was still dealing with the comment his sister made. She assumed Ezekiel and Wade were together, or WHATEVER, and hearing that bugged Victor to no end. He listened to that SHIT MUSIC to his left, because... it obviously wasn't going anywhere.

"Oh, I'm overdue. Give me some room, I'm coming through. Paid my dues, in the mood. Me and my girls gonna shake the room.."

"DJ's spinning, show your hands. Let's get dirrty, that's my jam. I need that, uh, to get me off. Sweat until my clothes come off."

Victor was about to lose his friggen mind. Mr. Random was playing some shit song, and just existing over toward the left side of the roof. The thought of shoving him off began to take over, so Victor drew in a slow breath. He made his plans for the roof repair, and he told Steve that Wong was gathering up the supplies. Supplies and additional help were on the way. That's the next thing that Victor said.

So, the roof repair operation was expanding. Steve Rogers heard the update. The blonde kept a gentle focus on only one person, while all the details were worked out around them.

Ezekiel made a quiet move. He focused on the plans that were set on the roof, and he slowly picked them up. He didn't react to Wade's music at all, and his eyes migrated over the intricate plans. Steve was contemplating if the "Jackal's" lack of reaction was more of a poker face in that moment, and the notion became more than intriguing.

That face was too neutral, emotionless, and way too relaxed. Steve pulled back his observation, because the blonde remembered that he had to tone it down. Ezekiel also carried the Mind Stone with him, so Steve decided to change his tune.
