No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 2
Chapter 74: Technovore(Part 4)
Ezekiel Stane was just a bystander to everything that was happening around him in that moment.
What he witnessed between Victor and his older brother held an interest, and he continued to watch the slow repair going on with Stephen's broken hand. The bones gradually returned to normal, and Ezekiel wondered how that was happening. The Mystic Arts intrigued him, but it was still something that he couldn't quite capture with his tech.
Tony Stark managed to house the energy, so obviously it could be done. The Jackal knew that the inventor was using that "Mystic" energy to power his translucent suits. They had a conversation about energy back in the day, and Ezekiel's mind wandered off to a silly nickname. Tony Stark called him a firefly, and it was on his mind for some strange reason.
A number of things was on Ezekiel's mind in that moment, and he wasn't expecting someone to call him out on it.
Several conversations eventually concluded, and Victor Strange made his way toward the quiet jackal. Victor's behavior earlier puzzled Ezekiel, so he didn't know what to expect when they both wandered away from the group. Victor said he needed to talk to him, pronto, and the baby Strange didn't want to be anywhere near Wade Wilson.
The mercenary was still looking for people to go with him at the time of Victor's conversation with Ezekiel. The baby Sorcerer Supreme gave Deadpool's noise another second of his time, then he focused full force in Ezekiel's direction.
"Zeke, I GET IT, so I want to talk about where we go from here."
OH he more than got it, but he was just in Ezekiel's brand new home a short while ago, so Victor could see that they had some things to navigate. The conversation he had with Tony Stark gave him some monumental insight, but it also gave Victor the boost in confidence that he really needed. He waited for the quiet inventor to process what he said. Victor was expecting a question to follow.
"What do you get?"
Ezekiel more than wanted to discuss where they were going from there because, in that moment, he didn't want Victor going with him to Milwaukee. The Jackal had specific reasons for that decision, and the bulk of his reasons had nothing to do with Wade Wilson. Ezekiel noted Victor's playful look that followed his question.
They both took turns looking over in Deadpool's direction as well, because his voice carried over from what was being said to the group. Victor took in a short breath and he ran a thought or two through his mind before he spoke. He wanted to just put out what he came to understand, so they could move on and look forward. That was his plan.
"I getwhyyou hooked up with, him. That guy, over there. Remember him?"
You kinda lived with him for months….. Victor didn't want to say his name, because he figured the freak would pop up behind him like a cartoon. Ezekiel felt hit with something after Victor landed his point. The subject surrounding Wade was delivered in a blunt way. The Jackal didn't expect …
"I remember. yes."
How to proceed. Ezekiel didn't want to openly discuss what happened with Wade, but he was surprised to hear Victor saying he understood. That piece to the conversation interested him, so he studied Victor's expression. He wanted Victor to elaborate on that, but he wasn't sure how to discuss it.
"That guy is effffinnngggg attractive, ok? So I get it. You're not fooling me Zeke. I would have stayed with him for months as well."
And then some. Victor was still in shock after he saw that crazy dude's face. I mean, whoa. He was gorgeous, and something to definitely behold. That information was said in a pretty uncontrolled manner. Ezekiel's posture straightened up sharp as Victor spoke, and for some reason he felt compelled to cover his mouth.
Victor saw that face suddenly flare up. Ezekiel warmed up after that and he quietly told Victor that he'd lost his mind.
"No my mind is crystal clear, so what's going on now. What do you want to do?"
Victor wasn't going to dump him, and he didn't want things to go back to how it was before. The baby Strange saw himself being with Ezekiel, and he truly didn't care what form that would take. He was shown the house for a reason, right? So Victor only wanted to understand. The Jackal recovered from what Victor had said.
His emotions settled down after some time, and he really looked into what Victor was saying. The Jackal definitely wasn't dumb, and he could tell that Victor's confidence had improved after he spent time with Tony Stark. It was more than obvious that Victor knew far more than he should, so Ezekiel glanced down toward his hand.
What did he want to do? That was the question he'd heard on more than one occasion. Victor Strange was allowed access to that information, so Ezekiel pulled something out of one of his pockets. He had a small set of keys, for Victor, because he was the only person allowed to be in his brand new home.
"I plan to go with Wade to Milwaukee. He and I are going to clear out the locations where certain… product is built."
Ezekiel didn't want to be specific. Involving Victor in the dirty work of his plan was something that he desperately wanted to avoid. He didn't want Victor seeing that side of him, or all the horrible things that were out there in the dark. He took that moment to think over how to tell him, because he also didn't want to hurt Victor in any way.
"But, with you, I want to build a partnership. I want you to take these keys and move back in with me. No one but you will have access."
That's what he wanted. He wanted to go out on the field with his S.H.I.E.L.D. team, and in theory… he wanted to pull a Steve Rogers and keep Victor in a jar at home. The Jackal almost laughed at his thought, because there was far more going on with that scenario. Victor Strange was his "Mystic Consultant" and his place was at the Sanctum Sanctorum.
That's how the team was arranged in his head, and that's how Ezekiel Stane wanted things to proceed. Victor wasn't given that information in that moment, because the "White Jackal" wasn't ready to tell him everything. The baby Strange knew enough to make an informed decision, so Victor smiled when he looked down at the keys.
"Ok. I will do that, I want that."
Victor Strange accepted the keys. He wanted to move back in with him, and hearing the words being said in that moment had him getting all emotional. The baby Strange bit his bottom lip a bit, then he slowly started looking over in Deadpool's direction again. That amusing person was still looking for people to leave with him, so that brought Victor back to his original point.
He understood why Ezekiel had shacked up with the loudmouth mercenary, but it still felt like something that they needed to explore and unpack. Victor wanted to get to the bottom of it, and see for himself what's got Ezekiel Stane super hooked. Victor's playful demeanor returned to him, and the Jackal braced himself for whatever was going to leave his mouth next.
"Do you want to go with him? Tonight? I kinda wanna see you two interact."
Victor was living for that, but he wasn't exactly sure how to make his point hit home. Ezekiel more than heard what he said, but his body refused to look in Wade's general direction. The Jackal kept hearing Wade's plea for people to spend the evening with him. Ezekiel had gone out to bars and… stuff... with Wade before, so…
"I'd like us to go, with him. Yes."
Victor witnessed a response that was almost bashful. He wondered what WADE effing Wilson was doing to Ezekiel to make him so cute and shy around the subject. Victor had to witness it. The baby Strange decided to take that situation by the reigns, so he turned around and marched his way over to Deadpool.
Ezekiel followed, but he didn't say a single word. He watched Victor converse with the mercenary, and Ezekiel could see a look of confusion moving around on Wade's covered face. His expressions were very animated, so the confusion was clear.
