No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 2
Chapter 82: Game Boi (Part 2)
Throughout this story, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers have been traveling on a very long and bumpy road back to Brooklyn, New York.
After the fancy drinks and the grilled chicken shack chat, the blonde asked his unruly brunette where he wanted to go. The answer was simple, and it was deliberately given. Tony said only one word, and that word was Brooklyn. That's where he wanted to go, and that's where he wanted the two of them to live.
The answer was more overwhelming for Steve than he expected it to be, because that blonde had such a gentle heart. The challenges he faced navigating around his relationship with Tony were often intense, and Steve never thought he was doing a good job. He only saw himself screwing it up, getting things wrong, and just overcomplicating everything.
He finally confessed that it felt like he was learning as he went, and luckily for Steve, the brunette bluntly told him that he felt the exact same way. Tony was never in a committed relationship before he met Steve, so in a way… he confessed to winging it as well. Hearing that made the blonde feel better, but he still wanted to process returning to Brooklyn for a little while longer.
Tony noticed that someone started playing the piano at the fancy grill shack, and hearing the sound of it felt nice. He was giving Steve all the time in the word to get his mind right about returning to Brooklyn, because that was their home. Bucky was always going to be right down the hall for Steve, and Tony wanted that more than anything.
It just felt right, so Tony held off on saying anything else about it. He asked the waiter for the check, but that didn't mean they were going to leave. He only planned to go when Steve was good and ready, and Tony wasn't sure how long that was going to take.
"Steve Rogers, I will never forget when you were pretending like you were out on a run, but you actually snuck out to fight Thanos, for me. You obliterated that ugly bastard, then you came back and took your shower. You went through the whole thing as if you'd been out running. Hysterical. I laughed about it for months.."
It still amused Tony, and he thought about it a lot when moments were quiet. Steve could not believe what he had heard. He thought he had Tony fooled that morning. Thanos, the Mad Titan, figured out that Tony was manipulating the Infinity Stones, and Steve found out that he was on his way to kill him. He couldn't let that happen, but he was unaware that Tony knew…
"Really, now… who told you that?"
"I told me, duh. Ezekiel and I sent Vision up there to defeat Thanos, so when he died… I had a front row seat. Vision showed me what you did, but I didn't say anything about it."
He let Steve Rogers lie to him, and it was the most adorable thing that Tony had ever seen. He was bringing up the memory in that moment for a very specific reason. Tony looked over at the summer boy for a short while, then he confessed the reason why he decided to take him down memory lane.
"That's my favorite memory of you, and of Brooklyn. I mean, you massacred him… then you behaved as if it never even happened. No credit given to you either. You just went up there and took care of business.."
My main man. Straight up. Tony held onto that moment tight, and he cherished it with everything that he had. Steve responded with a flattered smile. The look on his face was bashful as well. He wasn't about to comment or brag. In fact, Steve Rogers completely forgot that it happened. Thanos was dead, and the blonde did the only thing he could do to make sure Tony was going to be safe.
Steve thought over what Tony told him on the way back to Brooklyn. When they got to the door, there was always a routine that took place. Steve always had his key ready, and the two of them would always unpack what they had on as soon as they walked in the door.
Shoes off, keys in the bowl. Jackets removed, and all that domestic sort of stuff. Muscle memory was working to the max for them both, and Steve thought over if that was his favorite thing. He looked around the entryway of that apartment as soon as he walked in, and the feeling of being overwhelmed suddenly returned to him.
Tony was more than happy to be there, so he went about his business as if nothing had happened. He went to their bedroom and he started digging around for something to sleep in. He found red shorts and a black tank top. That was his usual, and he wasn't about to do anything differently. He also wasn't going to listen to anyone doing any double guessing about where they were.
Steve entered the room, and he started watching what Tony was doing. The brunette seemed more than at home there, and he was stepping into a longer pair of socks. The blonde began to think that he was looking at his favorite memory, because every second he spent around Tony felt very special. The ease he could see with him moving around their bedroom was beginning to seal the deal..
He watched as Tony pulled up a number of translucent screens. Those quick hands got to work, because Tony needed to keep himself busy as Steve figured everything out. The blonde watched him thumb through a massive sea of data. Tony quickly looked over the updates from every organization out there that his name was connected to.
Steve began to undress, and he picked out his familiar clothing to sleep in as well. The blonde normally wore a white t-shirt with blue slacks.
"Shit has officially hit the fan people, because Charles Xavier is calling for a Surveillant Council review. Tomorrow. 9 AM."
Holy shit. Tony was reading over the details of the report. The mutant ring-leader was not happy, and Tony's jaw fell open when he started reading the details about why. Oh wow, a ton of stuff was going on. Tony actually felt excited as he continued reviewing the information in front of him. Oooh it seemed like something else was being put up for a vote. Tony's hand skimmed to some of the information that was backdated.
Steve stepped in close behind Tony, so he could see the intel that was displayed on the giant screen. His hands roamed forward out of habit, and the brunette's face immediately flushed up with warmth. That blonde moved his hands in and over Tony's burning skin, and the feels took over quick.
"Fury is putting a new S.H.I.E.L.D. division up for a vote, after the Surveillant Council's review of, who?"
The Surveillant Council had multiple people that were being monitored. Only one name came to mind, but Steve wasn't seeing that part of the information. His body was pressed up against Tony's and his hands began to wander around a little lower. His mouth also found its way to Tony's neck, so the brunette failed to answer him for a long while.
"Charles Xavier is calling for the Surveillant Council to review Ezekiel Stane, tomorrow, and it said that Wade Wilson's presence is mandatory."
Oh boy. That response gave Steve all the information that he needed to know. It felt like something drastic was in the works, because the blonde was sure that Deadpool would be a no-show. And due to recent behavior, it seemed as though Ezekiel might become a no-show as well. The blonde thought over what it all meant for a moment, but then he changed his focus back to the person in front of him.
Tony opened his eyes after a moment, then he cut the power to every single screen. He had to close his eyes again shortly after, because he was mentally preparing himself for something to happen with Steve. Things between them overwhelmed Tony as well, but the brunette always kept it going. He refused to live with any sort of doubt.
