No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 2

Chapter 87: Game Boi (Part 7)

Bucky Barnes opened the main door to the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, and he held it open for Miss Donna Strange to enter the space. She walked into the enormous facility, and her eyes travelled around the movement of people that she could see.

The organization had a ton of employees, and they all were weaving about from one floor to another, or out the door and on some mission. She thought all the "happenings" going on before her in that moment were interesting. She walked beside James, and he eventually approached a translucent wall that was filled with all sorts of information.

There was definitely a strong "government" vibe going on around the two of them, but Donna didn't say a word about it.

She simply studied where "Bucky" worked, and she watched his hand as he typed in his S.H.I.E.L.D. credentials. Donna thought over something that was said between them. After everyone left, James told her that he didn't want to return to Brooklyn for a long while. He actually asked her if he could stay in one of the rooms at the Kamar taj.

Well, of course, she told him that he could do that. Donna didn't explain why she allowed it, but she wanted him to be there. So, he packed up some stuff from his apartment… then, she helped him return and he spent the night. Simple stuff, right? They spoke a little more after he returned, and his behavior seemed to perk up a little bit. She didn't ask him to explain anything, and Donna still felt like something was wrong.

They weren't "back together" either, they just talked about him staying there for a while, and that was none of anyone's business. If he didn't want to go home, then.. great. Donna was good with that, and she didn't really need to know why. Now, of course, a number of scenarios ran through her mind as she followed his lead through the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, but the young woman didn't want to pry.

"Unfortunately, you have to look into this screen. Every visitor has to check in, and leave fingerprints."

Rules were rules. Bucky shrugged about it, but yeah, he knew that kind of sucked. Donna didn't mind the rule. She gave James a small smile, then she complied with what he told her. Donna faced the large screen, and she put her hands through the sequence. Now, S.H.I.E.L.D. would forever have a detailed scan of her body and face, a retina signature, and her fingerprints.

Before the scan concluded, Bucky Barnes received a persistent notification from someone on his team. He dug out his cellphone and he looked at the name on the screen. It said "Baby Archer," and Bucky got a kick out of the nickname. He was curious to know what Clint Barton had to say, so he flipped up the screen and made it bigger.

The video call was connected, but it wasn't Agent Barton's face that popped up on the screen. It was the one and only Natasha Romanoff, and Bucky's terrible mood suddenly returned to him.

"Don't hang up. I knew you wouldn't answer if I was the one calling."

"What do you want.."

They had a meeting to get to, at nine. Bucky glanced to the left and checked the time. Donna wasn't seen on the screen, but she could see "Agent" Romanoff after James picked up her call. Her eyes immediately snapped back in "Bucky's" direction. I mean, hoooo… he seemed pretty mad. That behavior was very new to her, so Donna didn't know what to think.

"I only need to know if you've had eyes on Wade Wilson since yesterday. The men we're tailing here say they are packing up and heading back to the states, but they won't say where. They only said that the red devil butchered half of their team?"

A "red devil" could be a number of individuals, but for some reason… Deadpool felt like the winning bet. Bucky Barnes was obviously very annoyed with the Black Widow. He didn't want to look at her, or speak to her at all, but what Natasha asked for in that moment made him ignore that and think. The words red, devil, and butcher did remind him of Wade as well.

In fact, Wade's hilarious list of upcoming activities that he displayed for everyone at the Kamar taj made Bucky think even harder about the question. He looked over at Donna, and his eyes settled on her face for a short while. They had to get going, so Bucky refocused and told the Widow everything that he knew.

"Wade Wilson was at the Kamar taj yesterday, but he mentioned that a bloodbath was happening in Milwaukee after he went to some club. It was second on his to-do list. I also overheard Ezekiel Stane telling Victor Strange that he planned to go with Wade to Milwaukee. That's all I know, and that's all I heard…"

Milwaukee. Ok. Natasha looked over at the baby archer and Yelena. That information definitely hit a home run for her, so the Widow made a gesture for the two of them to pack up. Bucky gave her one more batch of insight before he cut off their conversation.

"Check your data logs, because Ezekiel is also under review today. It seems pretty serious. Maybe there's information about Milwaukee in there that can help you. I've been asked to head in as a member of the team, so, I'll update you guys when it's over."

Click. The brooding brunette didn't say goodbye to his "teammate" at all. He told Natasha what he knew, then he immediately put an end to the call. He didn't have any time to update the team as things took place either. The meeting was in minutes, and Bucky knew that it would take an eternity for them to carve through the damn building. Well, at least for him it would take an eternity..

Donna watched him put his phone back in his pocket. The angry expression that he had at the Kamar taj had returned, and Donna kinda figured that it had to do with Natasha. Obviously, they broke up? And… clearly she upset him? Donna hated seeing that. James was a good person, so she wondered what happened between them. Even right there… in that moment, Donna had to look at the expression on his face.

"Donna, can you whoosh us into this room here. I hate to ask, but, I don't have any mystical powers."

Right. She got distracted. Donna gave the moment an awkward smile, then she looked where James was pointing. Deliberation room 205. Donna had the room number, so she gave it a shot. Her efforts ended up not being necessary, because two members of the "Surveillant Council" had logged into the facility while Bucky was speaking to Natasha.

Steve Rogers formed a portal to the room, and Tony Stark walked into it first. Donna Strange followed after Tony, and Steve smiled at Bucky as soon as he saw him. The best friends said a casual hello, only because they didn't have time to say anything else.
