No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 2
Chapter 97: Another Sunset (Part 7)
Natasha Romanoff had only seen Wade Wilson in action a handful of times. His reputation as a "red devil" definitely proceeded him, because that was exactly what she was looking at when she re-entered the warehouse.
Deadpool came down from that roof through a large skylight, then someone's head came clean off within seconds…
Holy shit. Natasha estimated there were close to sixty men in there, maybe less, but one-by-one they all were meeting the red devil face-to-face. She watched as one of his swords sliced straight through a man's arm, like butter, so the Widow forced herself to refocus and find AGENT BARTON. The baby bird was avoiding Ezekiel's psychotic pet. Wade was on the right side of the warehouse, so Barton began moving up to the top of one tower of pallets far over on the left side.
He was zoned in on that white suit, and he noticed that "Zephyr" was cutting through the men below him like butter as well. The scene was, gruesome. Insane, actually, and Clint Barton couldn't believe what he was seeing. He heard Natasha's voice as she demanded him to stop what he was doing, because absentmindedly, the baby bird had wandered out in the open.
Almost every man summoned to that warehouse was dead. Their bodies were cut down and obliterated, with ease. That's what happens when you slaughter a group of people who didn't see it coming… The archer was in complete disbelief, then he suddenly found himself staring directly into the eyes of that pearly white suit. Ezekiel was done on his side. He let Wade handle the rest, so he stopped and looked at one of the last ones standing.
It was an interesting moment. The Jackal looked over Victor's friendly ex-roommate/boyfriend very carefully. The archer looked confused, but lethal at the same time. Ezekiel did a scan for all his weapons, then his eyes migrated back over toward Wade. Deadpool made his way up to the top of the pallets as well, and he flicked his swords clean as best he could.
Blood was everywhere, so again, the baby bird couldn't believe what he was seeing. Natasha was the only one talking. She kept repeating that she thought it was best if they just left. The Widow's voice was directed more toward Ezekiel at that point. She told the Jackal that she read as much about the new division as she could while they travelled to Milwaukee. The vibe was very "showdown" or "stand off" and the Widow didn't like it. She explained to Ezekiel AND Wade that none of them knew what they were doing because of the vote, but they all planned to get on the same page.
….
"Were you really going to have my brother killed?"
….
That's all Clint Barton wanted to know. He couldn't wrap his mind around it for some reason, because the baby bird did his best to keep memories of his brother positive. They had crossed paths off and on throughout the years, and his brother had always been in some sort of trouble. But, to butcher him? To lure him to the slaughter? Thoughts about it began to weigh heavy in Barton's young mind. Ezekiel studied the look on Barton's face, while his technology removed any trace blood that splattered onto his white suit.
…
"I gave you intel on Trick Shot, and I did that so you could find him and intervene. You should be thanking me.."
"Yeah? Fuck you, pal…"
THANKING HIM? The more Ezekiel Stane spoke to him, the more the baby archer began to grit his teeth. He was friggen arrogant, and Barton really hated the sound of his voice. What "Agent Barton" failed to realize was, Ezekiel gave him only one opportunity to save his brother. If Clint Barton hadn't approached him about Trick Shot, then the Jackal was going to watch Wade Wilson remove his head.
"Your brother knew exactly what he was doing, so he was lured to the slaughter… just like the rest of the sheep."
Ezekiel felt no emotion toward Charles Bernard Barton, or anyone else who was willingly involved with his former life. Pandora was definitely out of the box, and Ezekiel's new life was dedicated toward orchestrating a very large reckoning. With Deadpool beside him, there was no stopping it… so Ezekiel took that moment to get his teammate on the same page.
"More of them are going to die, Agent Barton, so you can stay or go."
The baby archer was processing what Ezekiel said, and what he witnessed… It happened so fast, and Deadpool's methods were normally pretty extreme. The term "bloodbath" wasn't an exaggeration at all, and having him teamed up with Ezekiel seemed, insane. It didn't seem ethical at all, or something that S.H.I.E.L.D. would condone for long.
The baby archer's eyes went in Deadpool's direction after Ezekiel spoke. The mercenary was standing there, cool as a cucumber, and he seemed permanently stationed on the right hand side of Ezekiel Stane. They definitely were operating as a unit. A psych-ward unit, and it was pretty intense to witness.
"I didn't think S.H.I.E.L.D. ran a death squad, and that's not what I signed up for."
…
Wade Wilson took two steps across a large pallet of cocaine that was actually supposed to pass through customs as wood pellets. He perked his head up as soon as he heard the baby archer take the high road. The mercenary looked in Ezekiel's direction for a moment, then he decided to speak up for their actions. Clarity was key, and Wade wanted everyone around them to know the drill.
"Hey there. I have some insight for you about that. Hawkeye? It's Hawkeye, right?… Yeah, see, the White Jackal and I…we don't give a fuck. They're all gonna die, and YOUR BROTHER gets to go to prison, thanks to you."
That was the shakedown of the situation. The bottom line, and Deadpool felt like setting the record straight. Ezekiel was behind everything that Wade Wilson said in that moment, and when he heard the word S.H.I.E.L.D…. a large smile stretched beneath his suit. Nothing amused the Jackal more than the way S.H.I.E.L.D. conducted business. At the rate the organization moved, any means of correction that took place was wiped out within a day. No, a "death squad" had a nice ring to it, and for Ezekiel to correct what was built, he understood that it was the only way.
"We're pleased to inform you that S.H.I.E.L.D. does run a death squad, and with that squad… I've constructed my own division. My branch has been given the term S.H.A.D.O.W.."
No fooling. Agent Barton was free to leave that division if he chose to do so. Ezekiel actually preferred it if he left the team, if they weren't going to be on the same page. Ok… the Black Widow slowly put her hands up, then she stepped over toward her quiet teammate. Barton looked extremely shocked with the information he'd received. The young man was beyond STUNNED, so she stepped in front of him and she told him that they needed to go.
"We'll talk about everything once we get your brother to the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility. We'll get him to Fury, then go from there. Ok?"
Natasha's voice was cutting through the void, because all the archer wanted to do was slam both of his knives DEEP into Ezekiel Stane's fucking chest… He imagined himself doing it in that moment, and he wasn't surprised at all when Wade Wilson stepped in close. He walked right in front of that white suit, and he said something about someone having a crazy twinkle in his eye.
"You look like you wanna murder someone, kid… Wanna go for it?"
Please go for it. Wade's tone was playful. OH, he wanted that baby archer to go with his impulse and try to do something to Ezekiel. The mercenary was inwardly pleaddddinnnggg for some more action, but the notion was unfortunately denied. A precious moment happened between two members of their budding team instead.. Aww…
Natasha gave Clint Barton a thoughtful and adorable hug. She said something inspiring about not wanting to see him die, or something. Wade forgot to follow along. He did follow the Widow's hidden agenda, because she managed to shove something deep into the baby birds skin. She handled her teammate and she finally got the situation under control.
Ezekiel was glad for that, and his focus returned to Wade as soon as she was gone. The Widow took her cargo to the aircraft and left, so Ezekiel was finally able to look over everything that took place below them. His technology scanned the scene, and the information it gathered was immediately sent to Steve Rogers. The objective for the day was complete, in a record breaking fashion, so the Jackal settled down a little bit beneath his suit.
"Did you have some sort of clean up crew planned out with all of this, or how does that work?"
Hah. Ezekiel gave a small laugh beneath his suit, because Wade Wilson was more than amusing. His technology served to be the clean up crew, in a sense, so the Jackal got to work on the final elements of the job. He planned to do that, then head back to his home in New York. He received an alert a while ago, so the Jackal knew that Victor Strange was moving things around in his home.
He wanted to spend the evening with Victor, alone. They had a lot to talk about, so the Jackal thought over how to explain that to Wade..
