"Well, first of all, I would like to be sure of how much knowledge you have regarding the human world."
Issei and Cynthia looked at each other and then turned their faces to Rias again.
"Very little."
"Yeah, what she said."
Cynthia tried to keep a professional look but it was a bit difficult next to Issei. There was no way to avoid the air of casualness that he and, honestly, most of his family had.
"I understand. Don't worry, this is quite common among some factions."
Rias said with a friendly smile but with a drop of sweat running down her forehead. She wasn't judging the two, certain factions are indeed more distant from the modern world, but as far as she knows, Susanoo is not one of them, making Issei and Cynthia's identity even more confusing to her.
Of course, in the end, none of that mattered, her job was still the same.
"I won't bore you with details, after all, I believe it is much better and more enjoyable to experience this world on your own terms."
Issei nodded his head with enthusiasm showing how a strong agreement with Rias's words. Seeing this, the red-haired was somewhat happy to know that the brunette shared her views.
"We just want to make sure that you have a complete understanding of the territory."
Rias said before elaborating and going into further detail about the politics and state of the supernatural world.
As she was talking, Issei didn't quite understand why, but there was something in her voice that gave him a sense of peace. He couldn't help but think about his alternate version, curious about what relationship he and the Rias of that world might have had.
At the same time, he preferred to avoid thinking too deeply about it since it wouldn't be fair to the Rias of this world.
Rias's explanation was straightforward. She mentioned the stray devils and how they were mostly the devils' society's responsibility and how if they were to encounter and deal with one it would be fine, but, they should inform Rias, Sona, or Hinata about it after the deal.
Cynthia considered it to make sense as this would basically be doing their job for free. Issei realized the same but was more interested in the fact that he could simply deal with those things himself if he ever felt like it. However, he was unlikely to go hunting them down since they would probably be too weak for him. He would just kill them if an excuse for it appeared.
Throughout the conversation Sona's attitude was that of a bystander, listening to Rias' words and only nodding in agreement every now and then.
Issei and Cynthia understood that according to Ichigo, Rias, and Sona should have roughly the same status but the region was officially of the Gremory, so the Sitri clan member presence was to make the conversation more official.
Hinata was a different case. It was clear that she listened to Rias' words differently from Sona, who was acting as Rias's equal, while the dark long-haired beauty seemed more like a student in class. While Sona had a naturally official and calm demeanor, Hinata's attitude carried a level of anxiety, as if she was afraid she would make a mistake at any second.
"That's all. If you need any help, you can contact us at school or with one of these pamphlets."
The redhead says, passing a pamphlet to Issei. The brunette could feel an energy, which he assumed to be magic, coming from it, showing it was not just a random piece of paper. It would also probably be more practical than smartphones as well and magic would probably allow them to contact Rias instantly.
"Would you like some more tea?"
Rias asks with a smile, holding a cup in her hand as an invitation.
"No, but thanks."
Issei answers with a smile that Rias finds incredibly attractive.
"In fact, we would like to report something."
Cynthia suddenly reveals, surprising Rias who takes on a serious attitude again.
The blonde tells about the attack that the Kamado family suffered and the fact that the offenders were exorcists or at the very least were involved with them in the past.
Rias, Sona, and Hinata straightened their backs, their expressions taking on a much more serious tone than earlier.
"I see, that could be troubling... thank you for informing me."
It was clear that several things were going through Rias's mind but, in the end, she could not reach a conclusion. Sighing, she thanked Cynthia for the information.
"We will see what we can find out about them and you will all be informed of any information regarding this case that we receive. Thank you very much for telling us this and please, feel free to visit whenever you want."
Naturally, with an invitation like that from someone as beautiful as her, Issei wouldn't hesitate to accept.
"Of course. Thank you, for your help."
His smile as he said that put a slight blush on Rias' face, who coughed, placing her hand in front of her mouth in an attempt to hide the redness that took over her cheeks.
"Thank you, senpai."
"Thank you."
Nezuko and Tanjiro also thanked the redhead since she would be looking for information on the people who attacked them and their mother. Rias just smiled kindly at them as Akeno opened the door for the group, who promptly left the room.
Issei was the last out and as he walked through the door he turned one last time and waved towards Rias, who waved back.
The conversation was short and formal, but for some reason, the redhead felt lighter inside.
"Fufufu, Issei-kun seems like an interesting kouhai."
Akeno spoke, feeling very interested in the dragon. Originally she had been a little wary of this meeting since her experiences with those involved in the Shinto pantheon had been far from positive, but Issei and Cynthia were completely different from the people of the Five Clans.
"Indeed interesting."
Sona commented to herself, especially after seeing the state of her best friend. Rias could try, but she was not hiding anything from Sona.
"It seems like it will be a very busy year."
Hinata added in a somewhat low voice and a shy smile. It was noticeable that she lacked the confidence that Rias and Sona naturally had.
[...]
Having a whole hour before classes started, Nezuko decided to use the opportunity to show Issei and Cynthia around the school.
"The pool is only a little smaller than the lake at your house, but the classes here are still the best."
The door to the pool was supposed to be locked and none of the students should have access to the area, but since Nezuko wanted to show them around, the three took a turn and jumped into there, with Issei carrying Nezuko in his arms, making her blush deeply.
Tanjiro decided to stay behind and go to the classroom with Ichigo. After all, neither of them wanted to be a third wheel.
"Hmmm... Nezuko-chan in a bikini..."
Issei mumbled with his hand rubbing his chin, as the scene of Nezuko wearing a bikini played on his head because of the scenario they were in.
Despite having mumbled, Nezuko wasn't too far away from him and heard the brunette's words, making her cheeks blush further.
"Fufufu."
Seeing the younger girl's reaction, Cynthia laughed. She had already imagined this kind of scene when Nezuko mentioned the pool and had not been disappointed by the two.
"I-if you want I can try a pair I have at home..."
Nezuko said as her face and neck became progressively redder as if all the blood in her body had moved up there.
Issei was surprised for a second before a light shone in his eyes as he gave Nezuko a thumbs.
"I will be looking forward to it."
Nezuko just nodded, determined to go through with it now.
After that, she showed them the gym because she knew it was the area that would suit the two, but especially Issei, the best. She doubted the young dragon could stay focused in a classroom for too long, but at least in P.E. classes, he could move around, even though it would require tremendous control over his strength.
"This is where we do sports and exercise. Hehe, it will be easy for you Ise-kun. If I can I will go see your class one of these days, I think it will be really fun."
Nezuko giggled as she imagined the scene of the students being completely decimated by Issei who wouldn't even be trying.
Nezuko's giggling made Issei and Cynthia laugh too, with the dragon reaching out to pat the girl slightly messing with her hair.
The young hybrid appreciated the gesture despite pouting to feign irritation, making her look even cuter in Issei's eyes.
However, after visiting the gym, they didn't have time for anything else since classes were about to start.
Nezuko said her goodbyes as she split from them, going to her classroom while Issei and Cynthia went to the teacher's office.
They had been instructed to wait until a teacher introduced them before entering the class.
As they walked through the hallways, moving towards their classroom, it was inevitable for the two to attract attention. Issei was taller than everyone in the school, and possibly the town, while Cynthia had natural blonde hair, unusual for the region.
The two stopped in front of the door to the class they were assigned to, recognizing the presence of Ichigo, Tatsumi, Tanjiro, and Orihime inside. There were also three other devils, but their presence was different from those that belonged to Rias' Peerage, indicating that they were probably from either Sona or Hinata.
The couple could hear the teacher announcing the transfer students and inviting them to enter. With that, Issei took the first step of his school life.
Hi, I finally managed to complete this chapter. I know it is a short chapter and it has been a while. There were things I had in mind before starting canon but honestly, I think I can do them later, so next chapter we enter the canon timeline. But before that I will be updating my system story, Absolute Dragon.
If it is any consolation for those who enjoy the fic and harem stories especially, the break convinced me on increasing the list... quite a lot.
