Archdruid Sephiroth Presents

Symphony of Shadows

The Shadow Gallery

Preface

In January of 2016, I started a project that Wolfpackersson09 and myself had talked about doing… While his only contribution was the idea itself, it is still important that I give credit where credit is due. Ultimately, it was up to me how to write it.

The idea was quite simple; a Neon Genesis Evangelion Crossover with the Castlevania Universe. The story would be a harem, with Shinji becoming the Dark Lord in much the same way that Soma Cruz did in Aria/Dawn of Sorrow. Ultimately, I decided to make the project a bit more epic by splitting the story into 10 parts; one part for each of the members of the Harem, and the final longest story would be Shinji's, where he truly takes on his role as Dracula reborn.

The structure was elegantly simple. Each story would lead into the next, following the adventures of each of the nine girls before finally bringing it all together in the end. But as I completed the first three stories, I noticed something that was a consequence of this style of storytelling; there were holes…

Now, plot holes are nothing new in Anime/Manga, or even in media in general. In fact, the deeper you look into any story, the more you're likely to find something that wasn't really explained well, or should not have been possible. Early in the series, these things can be easily handwaved as something to be explained later. As the story evolves however, it's become obvious that I won't get around to doing that in the main continuity.

How do I fix that?

This is how. In addition to the 10 stories that make up the continuity, more stories in the same universe are popping up in my head. While none of these tales I wish to write are worthy of a seven-chapter miniseries on their own, they are easily One-Shot material.

The stories contained within this volume are stories that help fill in some of those gaps that won't be directly covered or completely covered in the main story set. These stories will also help to enrich the universe more, and give more life to our characters, insight into their relationships, and show how each girl is adapting to their new circumstances.

Where is Shinji getting his resources?

How is Misato handling the sudden shift from her ward becoming her master/lover?

Why did Ritsuko decide to study occult magic?

And just what were some of the girls doing before they entered the scene?

These and many other questions I hope to answer with these stories. So, if you are a fan of the series, I hope you enjoy the extra content.

One-Shot Formatting

These stories will follow a different format compared to the mainline story. At the beginning of each story, you will find;

The Title

When in the Timeline It takes place

The Main involved characters

What you won't find is an opening scene like the other stories have, nor do I plain to include song notes, like the other stories as well. I may still include Shinji's notes like those seen at the end of Chapter 7 of every one of the stories for the nine girls. But I'm not committing to adding something like that to every story.

The lengths will also vary wildly. The shortest stories may be less than 1200 words, while the longest ones could end up being larger than a few normal chapters combined.
