"Dad?" A young boy asked, the boy looked no older than four as he watched his father saddle a horse.
"Yes?" The boys father asked.
"What kind of horse is Scarlet?" The boy asked.
The man smiled down at his boy. "Scarlet is a blood mare, Ben."
"Why is she called that?" The boy, Ben, asked.
The man chuckled. "I don't know Ben."
Ben came closer to his father. "Is it true?" He whispered.
"Is what true?" Ben's father asked.
"That bad people are after me because of the spider and the visions?" Ben whispered.
"Yeah, but we're gonna keep you safe, okay? No one is gonna hurt you."
"Promise?" Ben looked up at his father hopefully.
"I Promise. Now let's go for a ride before dark, yeah?"
"Yeah."
The man picked Ben up and set him on the horse, mounting the horse after Ben was secure. The man pulled the reigns and the horse galloped out of the stables.
——five years later——
Ben ran through the forest, panic in his veins as his heart raced and adrenaline rushed.
"Get him!" A man yelled as Ben slammed against a tree, pushing off of it and changing direction.
They were right behind him as he ran through the trees, bushes slapping against his skin. He ducked under a large bush and hid, watching as soldiers passed him by.
"He's here somewhere…" a soldier yelled.
Ben noticed blood on his arms, he couldn't pay any attention to it, not now. He prepared himself to sprint, his breathing was ragged but he had to make it. He ran. The soldiers ran after him as he sprinted deeper into the forest. Ben came to a sudden stop when he saw a ravine, he couldn't run around the ravine and he couldn't go over. He heard the shouts of the soldiers as they approached. He took a deep breath and ran along the edge the ravine, he wouldn't give up, not after what his parents sacrificed for him to escape.
A loud "BANG!" Was heard throughout the forest as Ben's leg gave out and he collapsed beside the ravine. He panted, feeling nothing but exhaustion and pain, his leg had been shot. He felt hands grab him by his neck as he panicked because of the restricted airflow.
"NO!" He screamed as loudly as he could.
"Got him, Boss." Ben heard the soldier that had grabbed him say.
Ben's vision started to blur and slowly everything went dark.

Ben woke to blinding lights in his eyes and a pounding in his head. Ben tried to sit up but felt restraints stopping him.
"Good, your awake." A mans voice said sinisterly. "Time to begin."
Ben panicked a little, looking around frantically. The man stood over him, holding a knife.
"Now, tell me boy, what is it you know about the family you were with?" The man asked.
"Y-you mean my parents?" Ben asked.
"No! Those people were not your parents!" The man shouted, getting in Ben's face. "Those people… stole you from HYDRA and poisoned your mind!"
Ben whimpered, pulling on the restraints. "No! They didn't do that! I don't believe you!"
"Tell me what you know about them!" The man demanded, stabbing the knife into the table next to Ben's face.
"we lived on a ranch in the French country side, My dad bred rare horse breeds and colors and my mom worked as an archeologist! Thats all I know!" Ben yelled.
"I knew that already, so, if that really is all you know, I have no use for you." The man said, getting a wicked smile.
The man stepped forward and plunged the knife he was holding into Ben's arm. Ben screamed in agony as the man twisted the knife slowly.
"I'll give you one last chance, boy." The man said, ripping the knife out as he leaned over Ben. "What. Do. You. Know?" The man emphasized each letter angrily.
"Nothing! I told you everything I know!" Ben yelled.
The man slashed Ben's face and when Ben screamed he grabbed the boys neck, restricting airflow. Ben gasped frantically for air, feeling lightheaded as the man squeezed his neck tighter. Ben felt tears welling in his eyes as he whimpered and squirmed trying to get free of the man's grasp.
The man let go when he heard footsteps approach.
"Doctor Warren." A man in the doorway said. The man, Doctor Warren, turned to see the man in the doorway.
"Sir." Doctor Warren said, stepping toward the man.
"Listen Doctor, I want you to use the kid we picked up in project Scarlet. He's got the powers already." The man said.
"What happened to getting an adult?" Doctor Warren asked.
"We have someone disposable already. I'd rather not have to hunt down an adult that's compatible to the vessel, especially when that boy already is." The man said, pointing to Ben.
