Despicable Me: Olde Town Chaos
It had been a couple of weeks since Margo had sprained her ankle playing tag with Edith and Agnes. She had been using crutches to get around since she hadn't been able to walk properly, it hadn't been easy to begin, but Margo managed in the end. One day she tested the weight on her ankle. It didn't hurt like it had done at the time and it wasn't swollen anymore either. ''Hey Mom, my ankle feels much better now'' Margo told Lucy. ''Well we'd better go and see what the doctor thinks'' said Lucy. At the surgery, Dr Giselle looked at Margo's ankle and Margo did a little walk so the doctor could see how she was doing. ''You sure that doesn't hurt anymore?'' asked Dr Giselle. ''No'' replied Margo.
''Well in that case I'd say your ankle is perfectly better'' smiled Dr Giselle, ''But all the same, do be careful how you go''. Margo was delighted as this meant she could go to ballet classes again which she enjoyed a lot. On the day Margo came back from the first ballet class in what had felt like ages, she found Gru looking at something in a newspaper with Lucy. ''They're having a celebration in the old section of town this Saturday'' said Gru. ''That sounds like a great idea'' said Lucy, ''Let's go''. They told Dru and the girls who all liked the idea so it was arranged. The following Saturday, the Gru family set off for the old town.
Meanwhile Jillian's family were also on their way to the old town celebrations with Jessica and her cousin Joshua. When they arrived, everyone could see horses pulling old carriages and tourists were looking at the old-fashioned stores. ''Mom can we see what's going on there please?'' asked Margo pointing. ''Sure sweetie'' said Lucy and she and the girls made their way to way a woman in an old fancy costume was standing in front of a blacksmith's store talking to a crowd of tourists. ''Many years ago, they shoed the horses here'' she said, ''This was where the blacksmith forged the metal for the horse shoes. He kept the fire going by using the bellows to blow air on it''. Edith watched and was very interested. How did the bellows work?
When the woman took the tourists to the other side of the store, Edith stayed behind. She went to the brick oven, picked up the bellows and squeezed them. A gust of air came out. Edith squeezed again and again. There was a pile of paper on a table nearby. One squeeze of the bellows from Edith sent all the papers flying! Then she sneaked to the group of the tourists, her mom and her sisters. Another squeeze of the bellows blew the ashes from a man's pipe everywhere! One more squeeze made the woman's fancy wig fly off! ''What's going on here?'' shouted the man with the pipe. ''Who's doing this?'' coughed Lucy. ''It's that little girl!'' said a tourist when she saw Edith, ''Let's catch her!''. Edith put the bellows down and dashed out of the Blacksmith's.
She ran down the street with everyone running after her. But Edith disappeared around a corner. A horse and carriage were standing in front of a restaurant. The driver was inside, having lunch. Edith jumped up onto the carriage and hid under a blanket. Jessica was feeding some sugar to the horse while the other Pedrads were looking at some old cars. She climbed up and sat in the driver's seat. Edith and Jessica didn't see each other. ''Giddy up!'' shouted Jessica. The horse heard her and trotted out into the road. Just then a car came from the side street. The driver in the car hooted the horn loudly. The horse was scared and took off at top speed. More horns blew. ''Look out!'' the driver of the car shouted, ''A runaway horse!''.
''Help!'' cried Jessica, ''How do I stop this thing?''. Now she was scared too. Next to her, Edith stuck her head out from under the blanket and looked around. She was moving! Then she and Jessica saw each other. ''Edith?!'' gasped Jessica. ''Jessica!'' exclaimed Edith. The driver of the horse and carriage came out of the restaurant and ran after Edith, Jessica and his runaway horse. ''Pull on the reins!'' he shouted to Jessica, ''That will stop the horse!''. He couldn't see Edith so he didn't know she was there too. Jessica couldn't find the reins, they were dragging on the ground! But Edith knew what to do, she leapt onto the horse's back, gathered up the reins and pulled as hard as she could.
Soon the horse stopped. The driver of the horse and carriage came running over. ''Are you all right young lady?'' he asked Jessica. ''Yes, thanks to Edith'' said Jessica, introducing her friend. ''Nice going Edith'' said the driver and shook Edith's hand. Just then the angry woman guide followed by the man with the pipe, Jillian, Lucy and the rest of the Gru and Pedrad families came running over. ''So there you are, you little minx!'' said the woman. ''Don't punish her'' interrupted the driver of the horse and carriage, ''She may have caused chaos, but she did save the older girl by stopping the horse''. ''You're right'' said the woman, ''Surely the girl is more important than my wig''.
''Hooray for Edith!'' cheered Lucy. ''Fancy seeing you here!'' said Jillian after everyone clapped, ''Your daughter is a hero saving my daughter!''. Jessica got down from the carriage and Jillian gave her a big hug. ''Time to go home'' said Gru. So the families waved and said goodbye. So Edith caused chaos but came to someone's rescue all on the same day!
The End
