CHAPTER 02: DREAMING MANY DREAMS
14 September 2012
It was another, yet regular, day in the city of Piedmont. Dipper and Mabel had just been reminded that her parents will be at a party. It was all the same things: miserable lives because of school, more cases of their fathers gambling addiction, a small time in poverty, and financial struggles. Caryn, who always tries her best to provide for her kids, leaves the house to go to her friends house. Caryn always goes there to get some things off of her mind.
Dipper and Mabel sit and mull in their rooms like always because life back at Oregon was crazy, but comforting to them. It was more fun than being in a financially struggling household. Gravity Falls was the only place where it truly felt like home. Now they have to stay in the Californian wasteland city of Piedmont, where no one is humble enough to be considered rich or stable.
DIPPER: "Mabel?"
MABEL: "Hmm?"
DIPPER: "Do you wish we could just go back to where we were actually happy?"
MABEL: "Yeah, I wish, but now it feels like growing up just... *sigh* It just sucks to me. We have to be here in this struggle of a household. At least Grunkle Stan was a richer miser than our regular parents are here at our boring home."
DIPPER: "Listen, Mabel. We will try and go back soon. We just have to hope. Just pray for it. You'll be lucky someday..."
Silence for 3 seconds.*
MABEL: "Sooo... awkward sibling hug?"
DIPPER: "Awkward sibling hug."
DP: "Pat. Pat."
Mabel then went back into her room, still listening to that mixtape the kind man gave her. Dipper brought out his collection of tapes to watch for some nostalgia to pass the time and sort of cope with the feeling that maybe someday he'll return back to Gravity Falls.
10:18 PM
Dipper sees that it is getting late. Dipper writes down his entry for the night.

Today was just a bit bland for me. We hardly did anything, but everything was just the same old thing. I go to school, then I come back home just to be back to my regular, crappy day filled with anger, anxiety, boredom, and self-lamenting emotions. I can't even feel better now that I've though about the good times I've had back at Oregon. I can't even feel happy. Mabel's unhappy about it, too. I wish I could just walk my way back home all alone so I could stay with Grunkle Stan and Great Uncle Ford. If any safe and sane god can hear this, I hope that my prayer is answered. Please? For my happiness to come back. It's time to say goodnight now.
-Dipper Pines.
Dipper then sets his book down by his bookshelf, and sets his pen in the previously written page.
Dipper then wakes up in an empty, grassy field. It's mostly empty, no one around. The only thing in the field is a narrow, wooden cottage nearby. Dipper walks over to the cottage. It takes him two minutes to walk to the cottage from how mostly far it was from him. He enters the cottage and there's only a couch with a CRT TV that constantly displayed static. When he went into the other two rooms, they were unusual to say the least. One of the rooms had a dinner table, but with no kitchen. However, the other room had a chair with the emblem of freemasonry with a talisman on a stool with a note that said:
"Reginae verba umbrae me audiunt, nulla vox audiet."
Dipper took the note just in case it was a spell that needed to be chanted once he sat on the chair. He sat on the chair, closed his eyes after rereading it for a couple of times, and recited the Latin text.
DIPPER: "Reginae verba umbrae me audiunt, nulla vox audiet!"
When he recited the Latin text, the atmosphere around him changed. Light turned into darkness outside and the atmosphere around him turned into the inside of an abandoned cathedral.
DIPPER: "Hello?"
Dipper waited patiently for some time until he saw a shadow of what seemed to be a lady, obscured by the fog of the realm. Suddenly, the mysterious shadow woman spoke.
?: Hello, child. I am the shadowess of the forgotten space between reality and the unforgotten continuum of time.
Dipper asks the shadowess a question.
DIPPER: "Do you have any knowledge about me? Any words of a whimsical truth that you can speak of?"
The shadowess replies.
THE SHADOWESS: "You are a special kid: a saint no longer filled with immoral intent, a boy with the growth of intellect the more the years go by. You are a special gift from God."
DIPPER: "Is there any wrongfulness in me?"
THE SHADOWESS: "Oh yes... all humans have to have a morally wrong feature... You always uncover the truth... hour by hour, day by day, and as you do, you uncover it too soon. You will know what you will do when everything becomes a freakshow in the future. You will be influenced by everything, and when you do...
WE WILL MAKE YOU INTO A BLEEDING MARIONETTE."
DIPPER: "AAAAAAGH!"
Dipper then wakes up, revealing that the shadowess he was talking to was a part of his imagination. It is now the next day all of a sudden. He turns on the TV, only to see that news is playing on the TV. The report is about the Northwest family and their bankruptcy. The next headline was about another incident that happened in Northern Oregon where a place called "Confusion Hill" where people have disappeared in various parts of the hill.
However, Dipper wakes up again, revealing that he had been dreaming two times. It is, surprisingly, already 7:08 AM; the next day. Dipper goes into the kitchen to have his usual breakfast.
CARYN: "So, did you get good sleep my boy?"
Dipper replies.
DIPPER: "Yeah, I did."
CARYN: "Good. Any dreams you had?"
DIPPER: "No... I don't wanna talk about 'em that much..."
"It's complicated..."
