Mandy comes up to Isabeau one day in Mikado, looking up at the Messiah of Tokyo due to being easily less than a foot shorter than the former.
"O-Oh… hi there! Do ya like anime?" Mandy asks.
Isabeau chuckles in response to Mandy's question and sits down on the couch, patting the cushion next to her for Mandy to sit.
"Anime? Why, yes, I am quite the fan of it. I have been reading the latest works of manga ever since I became the Messiah of Mikado. And the ones I have seen are very good. I was very entertained by them." Isabeau replies.
She laughs again, amused by Mandy's question. She gives off an aura of motherly energy as always, as the spiritual leader of the kingdom. Mandy stares up at Isabeau in awe, having never expected to be treated to a meeting with THE Isabeau herself. And to hear she is a fellow anime and manga fan like her is so… enjoyable to her.
"Wow, th-tha's sho awesome! I'm sho glad you're like... cool with anime and manga. My parents are real traditional people and, um... they don' like tha' stuff I'm into, but I cough love 'em anyway..." Mandy says.
Tears start welling up in Mandy's eyes as she thinks about her life... and it's difficulties... and how happy she is to be talking to Isabeau. Isabeau notices the tears welling up in the girl's eyes and smiles kindly. The Messiah understands what it is like to have to live in a world where people do not understand you, so she wishes to be kind and empathetic. After all, she wants to be seen as a role model for everyone. She placed her mechanical hand gently on Mandy's shoulder.
"Ah, that is understandable. Everyone should be able to enjoy the things they love, no matter what, especially if it doesn't harm themselves or anyone around them." Isabeau says.
Mandy leans on Isabeau, wanting to be comforted.
"T-They shtart every argument with "what's wrong with you?" or "what the hell's your problem now?". I don't know, I'm just trying ta live and they won't let me. No one gets tha' way I think, and I try so hard ta get people ta like me... they think I'm a freak..." Mandy says sadly.
Isabeau pats back Mandy's back, her motherly instinct telling her to comfort this young girl. She speaks softly, to the point where only Mandy can hear her.
"I'm sorry you have to hear that. You shouldn't let that get to you. Even though your parents do not understand your interests, always remember that you're loved. And you shouldn't try to change yourself to make others like you. Just by being you, you are unique and special. You're already perfect in my eyes." Isabeau says.
Mandy starts crying into Isabeau's lap, the feeling of Isabeau's mechanical arm comforting her. The Messiah hugs the crying Mandy gently, her motherly instincts kicking in as she attempts to comfort the young girl. She speaks to Mandy with the same gentleness she does when speaking to her children and other children.
"Parents often believe they know what is best for their children, but often forget that they should accept their children for who they are. You are a wonderful girl who doesn't deserve to have your parent's love conditional. I can guarantee that, no matter what they say, I am sure they do love you." Isabeau says.
"I d-don' know... my... my father'sh sniff never really loved me... I jushht wanna... sniff be able to talk about my sniff favorite anime and manga shonem without sniff getting yelled at... I don' wanna get in trouble anymore... I just... wanna make 'em happy..." Mandy says sadly.
She sobs harder into her lap. Isabeau continues to comfort Mandy as she cries, her motherly instincts telling her this is the right thing to do. After all, despite their differences, Mandy is still one of her people and Isabeau just wants what is best for everyone in the kingdom.
"I'm sorry that your father never loved you the way a father is supposed to love his child. I will always love you, however, child, even if your father does not.
Mandy looks up at her. Her sobs seem to die down a bit as she smiles, giving the older female a tight hug.
"Y-Y-Ya do? You'd… you'd really love me?" Mandy asks.
Isabeau smiles back at Mandy, hugging her back tightly.
"Of course I would, child. All my children have different needs, but I love them all equally. I do believe that you are in need of a strong guiding force in your life, so I would be more than honored to give you the nurturing and loving childhood that I believe you deserve. I will accept you as a daughter, and I will help foster your love for anime and manga." Isabeau replies.
Mandy hugs you tighter, burying her head into your loving arms as she begins to cry uncontrollably and lets out all of the repressed sadness, her sobs finally dying as she cries tears of joy, holding onto Isabeau for dear life as she sniffles and sobs quietly.
"I... I wanna be thure tha' I matter... tha' I'm good enough... tha' I'm sho... loved..." Mandy sobs.
Isabeau hugs back tighter.
"You are loved, child. You are loved by me and by the people of Mikado. You are not a disappointment, but rather, you are someone who needs to be understood and cherished. Let out all your emotions, my child. It is okay to express your sadness." Isabeau says.
Her words seem to finally resonate with Mandy, her sobs quieting down. The black haired girl smiles up at Isabeau, tears still rolling down her cheeks slowly.
"Th-Thanks, Ma... thank you so much..." Mandy says.
The teen hugs Isabeau tightly, her tears slowly dying down as she leans up against the Messiah once again, looking up at her like a daughter. Isabeau smiles, giving her new daughter's forehead a kiss. She makes a mental note to make sure Mandy's parental situation is dealt with, as she hates it when children or any citizen is mistreated. It is her duty as Messiah to protect those under her responsibility. She pulls Mandy into a big hug, her prosthetic arm over the young girl's shoulder.
"It is nothing, child. You don't need to thank me. If anything, I need to thank you, for having the bravery to come to me and ask for help." Isabeau says.
"Are ya sho sure you wanna... be my ma? I'm... I'm not that tha' good. I'm jusht a nerdy... little girl..." Mandy asks.
"I am very sure that I want you to be my daughter. We shall treat your nerdy interests with respect. You do not need to be anyone other than who you are right now." Isabeau replies.
Mandy lets out one more loud sob before calming down, now feeling truly accepted by someone.
"Th-Tha's... tha's wonderful. I... sniff I love ya, Ma..." Mandy said.
She smiles, burying her head into Isabeau's chest, just wanting to stay here forever. She closes her eyes, feeling safe in Isabeau's lap.
