No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1

Chapter Four: Astronaut In The Ocean (Part 4)

...

Stephen Strange could feel something dark in his fancy apartment. It was a dark energy, and it was physically looming over his youngest sibling.

The Sorcerer Supreme was observing Victor as he interacted with their sister, and the situation seemed very delicate.

Victor wouldn't even look at him, and Stephen understood why.

Ezekiel was gone, and Stephen could tell that he was being blamed. The family had been monitoring him, but it wasn't easy. Victor was behaving as if nothing happened. He was going about, and spending his time at the Sanctorum.

He was digging around their family history as well, and Stephen could see that he was close to solving a puzzle that was filled with death. Their family members had a habit of dying. The "Strange" family name seemed to have a curse attached to it. Stephen thought of that as Donna spoke to Vic.

They were talking about his roommate, but Victor didn't seem very engaged. He tensed up a little when she brought him up. Stephen pried his focus away from Victor for a moment. He brought his attention to Clea, and he watched her head for the door.

She looked very beautiful. Stephen wanted to mention it in that moment. Clea had always been his "Dream Girl", and she seemed more at home there at the apartment. For him, it felt like she was spending more time there than in the Dark Dimension.

Their life together was far from "normal", but the sorcerer felt, happy.

That thought left his mind because a few people were escorted into the apartment. Tony walked into view, then Steve. Soon after that, someone else walked in that was found "out on the street."

It was Bucky Barnes, and he seemed amused. Stephen held a small smile for the three of them, but then his attention quickly turned back over toward his baby brother.

Victor's demeanor had changed dramatically. The energy encircling him seemed to strengthen. It felt like sorrow, and something more.

It was dark and powerful. Dreadful.

He glanced over at his sister. Enough was enough. Stephen had been dancing around the situation, and patiently waiting for his brother to talk to him. Doing that was a stupid idea, so the sorcerer decided that he needed to act.

The mirror dimension began to form around Victor and Stephen. The Sorcerer Supreme made it clear that it was time for them to talk. The room started disappearing, and Victor finally looked in his brother's direction.

Seeing Tony and Steve walk in sparked something within Victor. They looked all happy, and...

Victor wanted that, with Ezekiel. He always envied their relationship, and it was becoming very hard to fake. Victor didn't want to talk to Stephen at all, and he started piecing together what he was doing within the room.

The "baby" Strange retaliated with everything that he had. He turned his focus toward his brother, and he used what he could to push him back.

Victor loudly told him NO, and it shattered the glass that was forming around them. He didn't want to speak to him, and he declared the birthday to be a bust.

Stephen immediately returned to the room and he gasped out pretty loudly. Victor stopped him from forming the mirror dimension, and he watched his brother take off.

Victor grabbed his jacket and he quickly left the apartment. He booked it down the long hallway, and just ventured off as fast as he could.

Stephen was in a bit of disbelief. He kept staring at the apartment door while all the questions about what happened piled in.

...

His little brother broke his spell.

...

That's what happened. Stephen processed it for a moment, then he told the others that everything was "ok".
