Ezekiel didn't intend to get caught by Victor.
He was just checking in, and the "baby" Strange noticed the change in Clint Barton's behavior almost immediately. The Jackal tapped into Barton's body randomly, but of course he was playing a video game.
That was unfamiliar territory. Ezekiel had never played before, so it unfortunately gave him away. The young man thought it over when he returned to his body.
Clint Barton had no idea...
The Jackal closed his eyes for a moment as he pulled more of himself in. He was given a place to recover, and he was given a place to learn.
Ezekiel had been through a lot, and it was causing him to become even more withdrawn. The "White Jackal" was getting concerned for Victor's safety, so he looked to someone that he secretly admired.
Steve Rogers told him that he'd "train him" when he was ready. Well, Ezekiel felt it was a good idea to learn from him, and somehow get a grip on what was going on within his body.
Two things happened...
First thing was the Mind Stone. Ezekiel inherited the Mind Stone from Tony Stark after the technology that they created together returned to Earth.
Second, the attack on his body. He was attacked by a mercenary named Wade Wilson. "Deadpool" was his call name, but Ezekiel wanted him dead. That is where he lived at odds with Stephen Strange, because he was the person keeping Deadpool out of his reach.
Ezekiel wanted to retaliate and murder the person that damaged his body. His body reacted in an unexpected way, and it left Ezekiel feeling out of control.
So... the somber Jackal spent his time recovering from the hit, while occasionally checking in on the person that he used to live with. Ezekiel was very infatuated with Victor Strange, but it seemed like the relationship that they tried to build was doomed.
He had to shut it all off, and evaporate every trace of what they had built. He had the ability to somehow siphon matter into his altered tech. The Jackal was trying to understand it, but he was also dealing with a bizarre mental block.
Ezekiel thought about that until he felt Steve's presence within the realm he was in. He hadn't had a visitor in a long time. The Jackal also heard a familiar voice, so he sighed.
He was hidden within a white suit. Ezekiel's eyes were closed, but he could see the four people that came knocking. The only person that spoke to him was Stephen Strange. Ezekiel registered his low voice, but he didn't respond.
The Jackal took in as much information in that moment as he could. Bucky Barnes was toward his right. Steve Rogers was beside him, Tony Stark, then Stephen.
Ezekiel assumed it was an ambush of some sort, but none of them looked prepared for battle. They only looked prepared to talk, and...

Ezekiel wasn't the biggest fan of that. He kept his eyes closed as Stephen spoke again. The great "Sorcerer Supreme" seemed angry. The Jackal took in his blood pressure, and he even looked into the vocal pattern of what was said.
Stephen Strange spoke with force. He did seem angry as he spoke to him.
...
Was he angry, with him?
...
How amusing. Ezekiel slowly smiled beneath the suit.
