No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter Sixteen: The Meddler (Part 6)
Tony Stark was walking at a steady pace, and quietly thinking about bacteria.
He left the bar with Bucky and Steve, but he made sure that he took another shot of liquor before they walked out the door. The three of them decided to head home on foot, and they all had something to think about.
Now, back to Tony's thoughts about bacteria. The shorter brunette was aware that Obadiah's charming baby boy had the ability to manipulate bacteria.
His body was under stress, and bacteria had a habit of mutating under those conditions. It mutated in order to survive, so...
"How did your last show go? I missed it, but... Steve mentioned something about it."
Bucky fucking Wonder's voice broke through Tony's thought. His theory on Ezekiel's mutating technology disappeared from his brain in an instant, because what he heard blew his friggen mind.
"What ?"
What. The. Fuck? Tony was in disbelief. He became speechless, and it kinda sounded like Steve Rogers laughed. The two not-so-broke boys from Brooklyn were chatting it up, and one of them kept trying to include Tony in on the conversation.
"Your show, in Brooklyn. I asked you how it went."
Bucky spoke again, and Tony's trust issues officially hit the roof. He'd known Bucky fucking Barnes for centuries, and he never asked him anything nicely. He NEVER treated him with any ounce of respect before, so Tony wanted to know what his angle was.
An untrusting glare slowly emerged on Tony's face, and he suppressed the urge to stick out his tongue. The three kept walking, and one of them became extremely amused.
"It went, fine. It's just something... fun."
There was no science to it. Tony had basically concocted a flashy DJ gig, and he occasionally put on a show for a bunch of strangers in downtown Brooklyn.
He liked it. Actually, Tony was becoming a bit obsessed. He gently glanced in Steve's direction, but that voice kicked in again.
"Steve mentioned that you're adding more and more of your own voice to your show, wh-"
"WOWwwwwww... you're really going for it tonight. Aren't you, Bucky Barnes?"
Tony wasn't falling for it. His glare strengthened up as he spoke, until he caught a glimpse of some beautiful blonde. Steve stepped a little more into Tony's view, and they all turned off the main street.
Bucky just friggen laughed. He thought about Tony's response, but the not-so-winter soldier decided to ignore it. They were almost home, and Bucky was glad.
Steve and Tony lived together, while Bucky lived in the neighboring apartment down the hall.
Natasha was currently away, so...
He was just hanging out.
Bucky wasn't sure what exactly he was "going for" when it came to Tony. He wanted to argue about his response, and say something rude.
The taller brunette spaced out about it for quite a while. I mean, Tony was an "interesting" person.
So... what was the big deal?
Bucky stopped spacing out when they reached the apartment building. He coasted along until he reached his own door, then he quietly dug the keys out of the front of his jeans.
Steve told Bucky that he'd see him in the morning. They planned to get breakfast. Simple stuff. The best friend gave him a gentle nod, then he watched Tony disappear beside Steve.
The "other" brunette just breezed right on into the apartment. Tony Stark didn't say a thing. Steve had a small smile. He closed the door behind them, and that was that.
