No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter Nineteen: The Meddler (Part 9)
Steve Rogers could do a million and one things in the morning before Tony even turned over twice on the bed.
It happened routinely between the two of them, and the system they had just worked. Tony slept like a baby all morning, while the soldier boy went on a run, had breakfast, and entertained his guest.
Tony only got up when he felt like it, and showered. He could smell food, and he could also hear a short laugh that came from Bucky.
Bucky fucking Barnes was a morning person as well. He normally strolled Steve's way while Tony snoozed. They were talking in the kitchen, or whatever.
Tony got dressed when he felt like it, then he strolled on into the main part of the apartment. He took in the cozy little coffee scene between the two best buddies, then he grabbed some toast.
Steve still had that smirk.
Tony noticed it when he walked around him. That golden thing mentioned something about a good morning. Tony became amused. He chomped on the toast, then he quickly snagged a mug for coffee.
Bucky got all, quiet...
He kept looking between Tony and Steve. It didn't feel awkward for him to be there in that moment, but he wondered if it was. The not-so-winter soldier wanted to know ...
His smile expanded. Bucky waited for Tony to look in his direction. The impulse to taunt him was growing. Bucky also had a habit of leaning back in his chair. He was balancing himself expertly, and casually leaning back.
Tony didn't get the chance to look in Bucky's direction at that point, because there was a gentle knock on the door.
Steve became a little perplexed. Tony was there, and so was Bucky. A knock on his door was a bit of an odd thing. Tony held his warm cup of coffee against his face, and he just stared off toward the door.
Uhhh...
Steve went to answer, but his big yummy body was blocking Tony's view of whoever came knocking. He stepped closer to Steve, and he tried to see who it was.
Bucky could see the person in the hallway from where he was sitting. It was Victor Strange.
Victor looked ...
Bucky didn't like what he was seeing. Victor was speaking normally, but even Bucky felt a sadness. He asked Steve if he could speak to him.
The soldier asked him if he wanted to come in, but Victor said that he needed to leave. He mentioned something about wanting to leave the hallway. Bucky started thinking about his behavior. He watched him speak, and he figured...
Bucky remembered something about Victor. He remembered that the "baby" Strange met Ezekiel Stane right there in that hallway.
Ezekiel was looking for Steve, but he found Victor instead. Bucky was part of the team that was monitoring his every move, so...
"That's... fine with me. Sure."
Steve agreed to leave with Victor. He agreed to walk with him, and hear him out. Steve Rogers gave Tony a quick smile, then he ditched the room for Victor Strange.
He left Tony and Bucky all alone in that comfy little apartment.
The door closed pretty quickly. Bucky and Tony both processed what happened...
They both needed a moment. They just stared at the door. Tony glanced down at the coffee that was in his cup, then he kinda cringed with the situation.
Bucky just leaned back in the chair a bit more. He took in what Steve did, then he tried not to say something rude.
