Chapter Twenty-Three: Did I Let You Know (Part 3)

Steve Rogers slowly flipped his old fashioned cellphone closed. He received another message from Stephen, so he smiled.

Tony was doing something random. Steve was trying to determine what happened while he was gone, because the vibes between Bucky and Tony were...

The soldier couldn't describe it. He glanced in Bucky's direction, then his eyes gently travelled back over toward Tony. A strong silence loomed between them. Steve cleared his throat, then he decided to break the ice. They were doing a lot of thinking. Steve had to wonder.

"I'm certain it will sort itself out, eventually."

He was referring to the lack of communication between Victor and Stephen. Steve was expecting it to sort itself out soon, but he wasn't sure when. He was talking to Bucky and Tony about it, but they were acting odd.

The not-so-winter soldier leaned back in his chair again. He looked up at Steve and processed what he said. Yeah, it could work itself out. Right? Bucky agreed with the notion, and he thought that he heard a shower turn on.

Bucky looked toward his right. The sounds of a shower strengthened as he tuned in a little more, but the soldier didn't say anything about it. He started looking more in Tony's direction, because the shorter brunette decided to say something.

"You said that Ezekiel took over Clint Barton's body?"

Tony was curious.

Steve was happy to have some interaction. He gave Tony a gentle smile, then he stepped a little more toward him. The blonde crossed his arms as he responded to the sudden curiosity.

"Yes. I said that he temporarily took over Clint Barton's body."

All the way from Oshtur's realm. Steve didn't see that as an easy accomplishment, and it was worth discussing. Oh, and the shower in his apartment was running at that moment.

Bucky Barnes wasn't hearing things, and he also thought that he heard a door close. It sounded like someone else was in Steve's bedroom... Bucky tried to look more in that direction, because Tony was doing something random in the kitchen. It wasn't him, and no one else walked in.

"I think he plans to kill off the body he's in. Shed it, and probably start new. Maybe."

Tony had a theory brewing about Ezekiel, and it all had to do with the work he had been doing since he was a kid. Tony ignored the shower stuff. He could tell who the third person was pretty quickly, so he ignored all the noise.

"How can a person body jump? Or kill off their own body?"

Bucky had to ask. He didn't plan to report anything that he learned about Ezekiel, but if he was going to die then that plan would probably change. Tony heard that voice send a question in his direction.

The shorter brunette actually looked at Steve's BFF for a millisecond. The answer was complicated so Tony drew in a slow breath. Steve just kept looking between them. He continued looking, up until the fourth person entered the conversation.

Stephen was drying his hair with a blue towel. He decided to put the conversation that he needed to have with Clea on ice for the moment.

The sorcerer could tell that he was in some hot water back at home, so he decided to take another shot at his dilemma with Victor. He heard Bucky's question loud and clear as he walked into the room, so the Sorcerer Supreme answered.

"One could body jump with a spell. I'm not sure who is leading Ezekiel toward that dangerous flame, but I have a theory or two."

Stephen had several theories, and he planned to work them all out there at Steve's. The sorcerer understood that he was possibly under some sort of illusive attack, and it was all connected.

His brother was involved. Along with Ezekiel, Clea, and most likely Christine...
