Chapter 9:
Atlantica:
Sora, Donald, and Goofy end up in an undersea world. They had trouble breathing, so Donald casts a spell he learned from Merlin, turning Sora into a merman, Goofy into a sea turtle, and Donald into an octopus/duck thing.
"Come on, Sebastian," says Ariel.
"Ariel, wait," says Sebastian, "slow down! Don't leave me behind!" Sebastian then swims into Donald's face and screams like a girl for a long time.
"What was that," asks Ariel.
"I would appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone I screamed like that," says Sebastian.
"Relax, Sebastian," says Ariel, "they don't look like one of them. Right, Flounder?"
"I don't know," says Flounder, "there's something weird about them."
"What do you mean," asks Sora, worried they might find out the truth as this whole thing is supposed to be a secret mission.
"They do seem... a little different," says Ariel, "where are you from?"
Sora was thinking in his head What should I say? I got nothing! No! She'll never buy it! Swim away! Swim away! "We're kind of from far away," says Sora, "and we're not really used to these waters."
"Oh, I see," says Ariel, "in that case... Sebastian can show you how to swim around here."
"Ariel, King Triton will not like this," says Sebastian.
"Oh, don't worry," says Ariel.
...
After their lessons were done. "Good job," says Sebastian, "okay, let's move on to self-defense..."
"Sebastian," says Ariel. She then points and some Heartless came.
"Class is over, good luck," says Sebastian as he, Ariel, and Flounder swim away.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy then fought the Formless... whoops, I meant Heartless. Formless are somebody else's problem. The Heartless are then defeated.
"Wow, nice job," says Ariel.
Sora then gets Flounder and Sebastian out of their hiding place, a giant clam.
"Those monsters might be heading for the palace," says Sebastian.
"We'd better head back right away," says Ariel, "will you please come with us?"
"We're in," says Sora.
...
Along the way, they fought more heartless. They then finally made it to the palace. Some Heartless came after them, but King Triton blasted them. "That was too close," says Triton, "as long as I have my trident, I will not tolerate those creatures inside this palace."
"Daddy," says Ariel.
"Oh, Ariel," says Triton, "when will you listen? It's dangerous out there." Ariel rolls her eyes. "Strange creatures lurk outside."
"Behold," says Sebastian, "you swim before the ruler of the seven seas: His majesty, King Triton!"
"And who are they," asks Triton.
"They helped us fight off those creatures," says Ariel.
"They don't look familiar," says Triton.
"We're from an ocean very far away," says Sora.
"Yup," says Goofy, "we came to find the keyhole.
"The what," asks Triton.
"What's that," asks Ariel.
"Well, it's a-"
"There's no such thing," says Triton, "certainly not here."
"But Daddy..." Ariel begins.
"Ariel, not another word," says Triton, "you are not to leave the palace, is that clear?"
Ariel then swims away and Sora, Donald, and Goofy follow her.
"Perhaps I'm being too strict," says Triton, "I'm just concerned for her safety."
"Of course, Your Majesty," says Sebastian, "but I must admit, now I'm quite curious about this keyhole."
"That need not concern you, Sebastian," says Triton, "have you anything else to report?"
"Just as you suspected, your Majesty," says Sebastian, "they seem to be coming from Ursula's grotto."
"I knew it," says Triton, "that sea witch is up to no good again. I see exile from the palace has taught her nothing."
"Yes," says Sebastian, "she poses serious danger."
"And I told you to keep Ariel away from such danger," says Triton, "did I not?"
"Your Majesty, please, I, uh..."
...
"Come to my grotto," says Ariel, "I want to show you something."
...
The heroes are now in Ariel's grotto. "Look at all the wonderful things Flounder and I have collected," says Ariel, "I think it's all from the outside world."
Ariel: Look at this stuff. Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collections complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
the girl who has everything?
Look at this trove, treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here, you'd think
Sure, she's got everything
I've got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I've got whooz-its and whats-its galore
You want thing-a-mabobs? I've got twenty
But who cares? No big deal. I want more!
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see 'em dancin'
Walkin' around on those...
What do you call 'em? Oh, feet
Flippin' your fins you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumpin', dancin'
Strolling along down the...
What's that word again? Street
Up where they walk
Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin' free,
wish I could be
part of that world
What would I give
if I could live
outta these waters?
What would I pay
to spend a day
warm on the sand?
Betcha on land
they understand
Bet they don't reprimand their daughters
Bright young women,
sick of swimmin',
ready to stand
And I'm ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions and get some answers
What's a fire and why does it...
What's the word? Burn?
When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love
love to explore that shore up above?
Out of the sea
wish I could be
part of that... world!
"Ariel, you and I might not be that different," says Sora.
"Hey, why don't we try looking for that keyhole you were talking about," Ariel suggests.
"But your father said-" Sora begins.
"Oh, he treats me like a little kid," says Ariel, "he never wants me to do anything." The four then go to search, but Ursula's eels, Flotsam and Jetsam were watching.
"Those impudent fools will never find the keyhole," says Ursula, "but the girl could prove useful. And I've got the Heartless on my side. Triton, my old friend... Your day is coming." Ursula laughs.
...
Sora, Donald, and Goofy arrive at this sunken ship. "I wonder why anyone thought it was a good idea to park it underwater," says Goofy.
Sora and Donald just shake their heads no. Then a shark crashes in. The shark fails to eat them, so it swims away... for now.
"We got out of a whale to deal with a shark," asks Sora, "anyone else starting to hate the Keyblade?"
"I blame the Heartless," says Donald.
"You're right," says Sora, "this is all the Heartless... things must be getting crazier. I'm starting to understand you!"
...
When the three get out, the shark comes after them. Sora, Donald, and Goofy then swim while the shark chases after them. Donald then casts a spell that turns th shark into a small fish. The little fish then swims away and the three sigh. Sora then sees something and attempts to swim to it, but part of a boat is in the way. "Wait, I have an idea," says Sora.
...
They return to Ariel's grotto and put some things together.
"Ariel, you disobeyed me again," says Triton, "I told you not to leave the palace." Triton then sees the symbol Sora made and blasts it.
"How could-" Ariel is sad and swims away.
"Young man," says Triton, "you're not from another ocean. You're from another world. Aren't you? Then you must be the key bearer."
"How did you know," asks Sora.
"You may fool Ariel, but you can't fool me," says Triton, "you don't know your dorsal fin from your tail. As the key bearer, you must already know... one must not meddle in the affairs of other worlds."
"Of course I know that, but..." Sora says.
"You have violated this principle," says Triton, "the key bearer shatters peace and brings ruin."
"Aw, Sora's not like that," says Goofy.
"I thank you for saving my daughter," says Triton, "but there is no room in my ocean for you or your key." Triton then swims away.
...
Ariel is crying. "My, my, the poor child suffers such deep sorrow."
"What a pity, if only there was something we could do..."
"Wait, maybe she can be of some help."
"Yes. Maybe she can be of some help to you."
"Who're you talking about," asks Ariel.
"Oh, she would certainly help you."
"She'd make all your dreams come true."
"Ursula can help..."
Ursula then appears. "You called, my dear," asks Ursula.
"You're Ursula," says Ariel, "I was just wondering if-"
"It's all right," says Ursula, "helping others is what I live for. Let me guess. You wish to see other worlds. That shouldn't be too hard. After all, your new friends came from another world."
"What," asks Ariel.
"But they had special help," says Ursula, "that mysterious key. Now, now. Cheer up, sweetie. You have something special too. Now listen, carefully."
...
"I think the keyhole they seek is somewhere in the palace," says Ursula, "now, my dear, if you can take me there without your daddy knowing... I can help you get to these other worlds you long for."
...
After defeating so many heartless, Sora, Donald, and Goofy arrive at the palace and see Ursula with the trident. Ursula laughs. "The trident is mine at last," says Ursula, "and I couldn't have done it without your help, my dear."
"Ursula, no," says Ariel, "I didn't want this!"
"Why not," asks Ursula, "aren't you tired of following your dear daddy's orders? Oh, yes. We had a deal, didn't we? Time for a little journey- to the dark world of the Heartless!"
"We cannot find the keyhole!"
"The keyhole is not here!"
"What," asks Ursula. Ursula then sees Sora, Donald, and Goofy. "Why, we have company. I'm afraid you're a little late, handsome!" She then disappears.
"Daddy," says Ariel.
"The Trident..." says Triton, "we must get it back."
"Come on," says Sora, "let's go!"
"Wait," says Ariel, "I'm going with you! My father is hurt and it's all my fault. I have to stop Ursula!"
"That's right," says Sebastian, "I'm right behind you, Ariel."
...
The heroes then arrive in Ursula's lair. "Come out," says Donald, "you can't run!"
"Your time has come," says Sebastian.
Ursula then appears. "And I thought my sister, Uliana was annoying," says Ursula.
Donald and Sebastian then scream.
The heroes then attempt to fight Ursula, but she uses the trident against them. It wasn't easy, but they managed to defeat Ursula and destroyed her eels. "You'll pay for this," says Ursula. She then goes back in her hiding place.
...
As they were on their way back, Ursula shows up, still holding the trident. "You pathetic fools," says Ursula, "I rule the seas now!" Ursula then grows to gigantic size. "The sea and all its spoils bow to my power!"
Sora, Donald, and Goofy try to fight Ursula, but she begins beating them around. "What's that," asks Donald.
Ariel somehow gets that sunken ship to work, and she pokes the tip right through Ursula, stabbing her. "NO!" Ursula is no more.
"I didn't think that would work," says Ariel.
...
The heroes are now back at the palace. "Daddy, I'm so sorry," says Ariel.
"Please don't be angry with her," says Sora.
"It's my fault," says Triton, "you followed Ursula because... I wouldn't let you follow your heart. And when you found that crystal, I lost my temper and destroyed it."
"Why did you destroy it," asks Goofy.
"That crystal held the power to reveal the keyhole," says Triton, "the keyhole is dangerous. I had to keep you away from it at any cost."
"Daddy..." Ariel begins.
"Key bearer," says Triton, "I have one more request: Seal the keyhole. My triton also holds the power to reveal the keyhole. Will you do it?"
"Of course," says Sora, "that's what we had in mind from the start."
"Where is the keyhole, Daddy," asks Ariel.
"You should know better than anyone," says Triton, "it's in your grotto."
"Really," asks Goofy, "Sora, let's go."
...
The trident then turns that weird symbol the heroes put together into the keyhole. Sora then uses the keyblade to unlock the keyhole.
"Tell me, Sora," says Ariel, "your world, what's it like?"
"Oh, about that," says Sora, "sorry for lying to you."
"It's okay," says Ariel, "besides, if you can travel to other worlds, maybe I can, too. So many places I want to see, I know I'll get there someday. I'll find a way somehow. I'm sure of it."
"Well, if you find it," says Sebastian, "do me a favor and leave me out of it."
