No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter Twenty-Nine: Did I Let You Know (Part 9)
Victor Strange was very surprised when his friendly roommate left the apartment. He was forced to process his behavior for a long while.
Victor was standing all alone in the apartment at that point, and what he said began to sink in. It sank through his brain as he stared at the rest of the sandwich that the archer made for him.
He didn't have to make him anything to eat, and he really didn't have to be there at all. Clint Barton could go anywhere...
The baby Strange contemplated that for a while. Eventually, he located his cellphone. It was buried in the side pocket of his favorite jacket.
Victor only used his cellphone to text his older sister, but he had his friendly roommates phone number. They exchanged phone numbers when he moved in, but...
The baby sorcerer had never contacted him until that moment. He composed a simple text message, but he didn't send it right away.
[Sorry. I'm horrible.]
More like, I'm an extremely fucked up human being. Victor preferred to word the message that way, but he filtered himself. He wasn't sure when he became that cynical.
Ezekiel leaving had something to do with it, but Victor didn't want to think about it. His mind returned to the idea of leaving the apartment after he sent the message.
He sent the text message off toward oblivion, then he turned his focus toward the front door. Victor didn't have a plan in mind at all as he approached the exit.
The baby Strange just made his way over. He tried to let go of his behavior and move on. Just go. The processing of what he said and did wouldn't quit. He remembered what he said as his hand touched the door, so he stopped.
"Are you saying you're straight?"
Wow. How rude. How...
Victor couldn't believe himself. He gave out a loud sigh, then he quickly opened up the apartment door. Stephen's "baby" brother received another shock when he looked out into the apartment hallway.
Everything beyond the door was completely blank. Bleach white. Silent. It felt like he was staring off at a giant void. Victor kept staring toward the vast stretch of, nothing.
He'd seen that white void only once before. Ezekiel's room in the hospital had somehow transformed.
The apartment hallway matched what he saw at the hospital, so Victor took in a deep breath. He glanced around for some white armor as well. The baby Strange couldn't really speak, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to.
"I got your message."
Ezekiel did the talking, but he wasn't ready to reveal himself. He watched Victor leave the apartment. He took a few steps away from the apartment door.
Victor seemed upset in that moment. He kept looking around the white void, but his focus was heading in Ezekiel's direction. Victor could feel where his energy was located, but that "crime lord" kept himself pretty concealed.
"Did you get my actual message? Or did Steve Rogers water it down for you..."
Victor told him to fuck off, but there he was. His real message amused Ezekiel, for a time. He almost revealed himself so they could possibly talk about it.
The Jackal wanted to say something in that moment, but he refrained.
