No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1

Chapter Thirty-One: When Worlds Collide (Part 1)

Steve Rogers was definitely in a mood.

He didn't like all the deliberation, and what the people around him were currently saying. Nick Fury was reliving drama from the past. His anger was somewhat understandable, but Steve was about to correct him on several points.

The blonde went with Stephen Strange to negotiate their plan, but Fury mentioned putting Victor and Ezekiel in separate prisons, instead of having them work together.

The director kept asking Stephen if they could even "contain" someone from the Mystic Arts.

Steve's mood was altering because of something that kept happening before all of the deliberation. The soldier's thoughts wandered a little during the conversation.

It seemed like his best friend was softening up on Tony, and Steve was pretending not to notice.

He almost choked out a laugh a few times as Fury 's facial expressions were glorious to take in. Plus, he kept shooting little comments back in Bucky's direction, but the not-so-winter soldier was left un-phased.

Tony would say something about his persistence, or he'd ask him "where's your widow?" but Bucky would just shrug everything off.

Steve was too amused with whatever it was. He wanted to talk to Tony about it, but he lost his chance for the two of them to speak alone.

Steve's thoughts kept buzzing until something in the room brought him back into the fold.

Stephen Strange spoke up a bit more. He defended his younger brother, but he looked a little troubled about it. He even apologized to Fury about what happened in the past, but obviously the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. held a different idea.

Nick Fury told the room that "someone" needed to turn Ezekiel in immediately. He believed that his werabouts were always being withheld, and he wouldn't let up.

He also brought up the fact that Ezekiel had the ability to shut the entire building down again. He kept describing Victor as a "fugitive", and the vocabulary felt a bit dated.

That's where Steve decided to take a deep breath and say something. He heard what Fury said, but the soldier had to chime in.

"Victor isn't responsible for what happened to the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, or anything that happened before. He is only responsible for placating Ezekiel. I will give you that."

But, that was it.

Steve placed the bulk of the guilt on Ezekiel Stane, but the soldier didn't plan on discussing it any longer. Fury didn't have anything of worth to justify putting him back in prison.

Steve spoke up for Ezekiel before, and he planned to do it again if need be. Now it was Victor's turn, and Fury wasn't going to lock him up either.

In Steve's opinion, it seemed like Fury felt out of control when it came down to the Mystic Arts, or anything that related to Ezekiel. Steve could see where his frustration came from, but that didn't give the man a pass.

Steve didn't really plan to single Fury out in the conversation either, so he turned his focus toward the other person in the room.

"So Stephen, how do we fix this?"

They had a room full of strong minds, so Steve tried to get the ball moving toward some sort of an agreement or solution.
