No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter 38: When World's Collide (Part 8)
Eventually, Stephen Strange left the hospital. He knew that he needed to head home to his wife and daughter, but the sorcerer needed to stop somewhere first.
He made his way up to one of the lower floors of the Sanctorum, then he slowly glanced back at the person behind him.
Christine Palmer agreed to temporarily stay in one of the rooms. Stephen explained the situation to her, so..
She was accepting what was said, but she kept a few details about it to herself. Christine wasn't sure how to approach the real issue, so she looked around the old building as they entered.
She wanted to roam around, but the woman decided against it. Christine drew in a slow breath.
She kept looking at the walls of the room they were in, and then she'd occasionally look over at Stephen.
He was listening to her heartbeat, so he didn't respond. Christine waited around a bit until he explained something.
Stephen looked directly at her, and it hurt Christine's soul.
"What is this place?"
It felt haunted, or spiritual. Christine returned her attention toward one of the walls. She thought it moved, or somehow relocated.
"This building is called the Sanctum Sanctorum. I work here when I'm not at home."
Oh. ok. Christine gently smiled. There was definitely an elephant in the room between them. That elephant was extremely beautiful. She had soft white hair. Her hair practically sparkled, and she wore some interesting looking clothes.
Christine started thinking about Stephen's wife. She wanted to talk about her, but at the same time, the notion felt like torture.
Stephen held onto his thoughts for a moment. He wanted to say something more about the room she was in, but the sorcerer knew that it was time to leave.
He was struggling for some reason. Heading off wasn't that easy. The room became very quiet, until Stephen said something again.
"I have to explain what's happening. A man named Wong can show you around later if you want. Prepare yourself tho, because this place is pretty out there."
Everything about Stephen's life seemed to be very "out there", so Christine gave him a playful look.
Prepare herself? She couldn't imagine being prepared in any way.
She held a smile. Christine told him that she understood. Stephen tried to find some sort of words after she spoke, but he only glanced down at her waist.
His darkest enemies had a habit of digging a knife in very deep. They decided to make a move on him, or his wife. It happened to them once before.
Stephen and Clea had exploitable wounds, and it seemed like someone out there was trying to tear them apart, or make them suffer again.
"You were going to explain. Remember?"
"Yes. I'll check in, once I know something more."
Stephen was very aware that he needed to leave. The Sorcerer Supreme gave her a small smile, then he quietly left the room.
The space around her became closed off with a spell, but Christine Palmer didn't see a thing.
