No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter 39: When World's Collide (Part 9)
Ezekiel could still smell a thick scent of cigars.
...
The hiding place that he shared with Victor Strange once belonged to his father. Luckily, his horrid father's existence had been removed..
Dead. Ezekiel recalled the moment, and it almost made him smile.
Despite his death, Obadiah's presence seemed to linger in the home. His son mentioned burning it to the ground several times when he cleared everything out, but Victor convinced him to leave it be.
Now he felt sick in the home. The smell of cigars were suffocating him. They were also invoking unpleasant memories that Ezekiel tried to remove from his brain.
He wanted to be happy there. Sometimes he was. Possibly. The "White Jackal" turned over onto his side. He looked over at Victor, then he rubbed the side of his right eye.
Ezekiel needed to talk to him, and make a few things clear. Victor seemed a little more than spaced out.
He gently touched Victor's arm, and the baby Strange eventually looked up. His hand was cold, and Victor was spacing out.
He had a lot on his mind. The baby sorcerer had been preparing himself for some sort of conversation.
Ezekiel covered most of his body with the blanket, then he gave Victor a small smile. It was just a small pull of the mouth, but Victor noticed it.
He noticed a lot about Ezekiel, and he started remembering an easy morning that they shared once before. Everything felt a little simple there for a while, but now look where they were.
"I'm returning to S.H.I.E.L.D.. I will be going back, with the others, whether they like it or not."
Victor figured that. He wasn't sure how Ezekiel would make ammends with the organization or the people in it, but he knew that he was going to try at some point.
It was his first choice for a reason, so...
"I've just been very distracted."
Ezekiel didn't how else to put it. He made that small confession, and it caused Victor to take in a deep breath. The words hurt, and he didn't like hearing it.
"Distracted. Ok, so...you don't want to be distracted anymore?"
That meant too much. Victor was already hurting as it was, and Ezekiel's level of empathy was
already pretty low. He didn't answer Victor right away.
He moved in a little closer to him, and he started elaborating on what he was saying. Ezekiel quietly told him what he was actually doing, and Victor suddenly felt overloaded.
That crime-lord ex boyfriend of his was making his exit, while at the same time telling him that he would still be around.
He just gave the plan a nod. Victor heard what he said very clearly, and all he could do was nod his head.
They shared an embrace, an actual kiss or two before that crime-lord turned his focus back toward the ceiling.
All he could think about was destroying the home they were in. He needed every trace of his father to finally disappear.
