No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter 44: By The Way (Part 4)
Tony felt "filled in" on all the S.H.I.E.L.D. drama updates. Steve and Natasha explained some things that were going to occur in the morning, and that was that.
Tony's involvement was supposed to come later. He updated the others on Wade Wilson's condition. His body intrigued Tony, but not in ways that the mercenary wanted.
Steve could see Tony's amusement as he spoke. He seemed buzzed up about something. His explanation about all his progress didn't go unnoticed.
Bucky and Natasha took in the information. They shared some details about Clint Barton, but eventually the two of them went home. They called it a night. Left the chat.
Tony and Steve migrated down into their home eventually. They crossed the apartment, and Tony started peeling out of his day. He started undressing. Pondering. Thinking. Steve was watching his little red corvette as he entered the room.
The blonde kept untying his shoes as he watched him. Steve was doing his best to hold in all the amusement.
Tony quickly kicked the shoes off his feet. He didn't take his time with it like Steve always did. The shoes flew off toward the closet, while Tony noticed an interesting grin.
The brunette caught that look, but he kept quiet about it.
Steve was tired of keeping quiet. He was very amused, and he wanted to talk about a few things. They were finally alone, so.. Steve removed his shoes, then he started brushing them off.
"Is Bucky bothering you Tony?"
Christ. Tony heard that yummy voice, so he gave a small sigh. His clothes were partially removed, and the brunette started looking around for his shorts. Was Bucky BOTHERING him?
Tony slowly swallowed, then he quickly glanced over at Steve.
"Isn't he always?"
"Do you want me to talk to him?"
Steve had his ways. He didn't want Bucky bothering Tony, or making him feel uncomfortable. He knew his friend very well, and Bucky's persistence was showing.
Steve didn't really know what was at the end of the tunnel when it came to that persistence, but an idea about it was forming.
Tony located a pair of red shorts. He thought about what Steve said for a moment, then he almost laughed.
In a way, Tony was having fun with Bucky's behavior. He wanted to sorta shut him down, or something, but...
Steve's eyebrow arched up pretty quickly. Tony was taking a year to answer, so Steve was left to wonder about what was happening. Heeeeee neeededdddd toooooo knowwwwww. It was killing him.
Tony put those shorts on. He stepped over toward Steve Rogers, and he looked down at that perfect face. Tony was about to reveal something, and it wasn't really related to how he felt about the whole Bucky situation.
He wasn't sure if Steve was ready for it, but Tony touched one of those yummy arms as he spoke.
...
"I've always wanted a puppy."
His parents always told him no. Tony held that juvenile thought for a sec, as some warm hands touched the sides of his legs.
A puppy? Steve's face puzzled up. He understood what was said in some respect, but the blonde needed some clarification. He kept looking up toward Tony's expression.
His hands started moving around as well. Steve thought roaming them upward might get him a better explanation.
Tony touched his hair. He ran his hands through it a few times, and he kept looking down at Steve's puzzled look. The Bucky thing was just...
...
"Your bestie brought something up today, when we were on the roof. I wanted to talk to you about it at some point."
Bucky Fucking Barnes reminded Tony of something, and it actually overshadowed the mess that Steve seemed curious about. The blonde kept staring up at Tony for a good while.
He wondered about his behavior, and wondered where the conversation was going. Steve told him they could talk. Of course they could talk.
The mood between them didn't seem abnormal at all, but Steve couldn't really put his finger on what was going on. He waited for Tony to say something more, but the brunette's hands started getting busy instead.
Tony was always more physical. Steve tried to get ahead of it, or beat him to it in a sense. He pulled Tony onto his lap. That helped settle him, a little.
Steve felt him inhale. Tony drew in a slow breath, then he got around to saying something. They kissed first. That was expected. The moment called for it, but Steve wouldn't allow the behavior to carry on.
"He reminded me of something. Before we met, back at the X-mansion. Uhh, well I've thought about it more or less. Off and on, but Bucky reminded me about it today."
Tony began explaining. Steve tried to translate what was said, because there were a ton of words for him to carve through. Before they met, ok. Steve understood that part.
"Before I was brought to the X-mansion to meet you, I had already met you. Before."
Tony never told him. He watched Steve's puzzled look strengthen up. His head even turned a little. The blonde was clearly contemplating the words that Tony chose to tell him.
Before he met him, he met him? Say what? Steve was aware that there were alternate versions of themselves in other dimensions.
He even met one or two of them himself over the years. He heard what Tony said, but something about it felt different.
"There were issues going on before I met you. Some shit company wanted to kill me, or whatever. Another version of you came to protect me. He was here before all of that drama happened with my parents, then he left."
Simple. Tony kinda shrugged. He wanted to finally explain all of that before he started getting a bit more involved with S.H.I.E.L.D...
Plus, Tony declared himself ready to bring it up. He also felt a little lighter where he was, but Steve's puzzled look remained. He had a question or two about what he was hearing.
The blonde decided to hold onto them, for the moment.
