No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1

Chapter 48: By The Way (Part 8)

Christine Palmer had spent most of her morning in an odd looking room. Stephen told her that she would be safe there, and that the illusion would pass once he snuffed out the source.

She had a lot on her mind. Christine tried to process everything that Stephen told her, but an uneasy feeling about it refused to wash away.

She wanted to accomplish a few things while she was there, but it seemed like the opportunity left.

Christine wandered around the Sanctorum instead. She stopped several times, because the artifacts caught her attention over and over again.

Wong located her, because he couldn't have someone wandering the Sanctorum aimlessly. He was there to answer her questions, and make sure that she was safe as well.

"What is all this...stuff?"

"These are gifts. Ancient gifts for us to use in order to preserve the Mystic Arts, and life here on Earth."

...

"Oh."

...

Ok. Christine gave Wong a kind smile. She kept looking toward some sort of cauldron, but then her curiosity went in a different direction.

Giant books caught her eye, but she kept still.

"Do any of these gifts grant wishes? Or requests?"

She had to wonder. Wong seemed a bit confused with what she said, but he assumed she was thinking of the Mystic Arts as some sort of giant genie lamp.

"There is a mirror here that grants the reflection a request, or an old ring. Why do you ask?"

Her answer was important. Wong wasn't going to show her the actual artifacts that he was speaking about, but he had to answer honestly.
Christine just shrugged. Her response was more of a brush off, and Wong noted that. The man had a sense of pride when it came to the items within the Sanctorum, so of course, he gave her his answer.

His body also gave her an answer, because when he was thinking of the artifacts, his arms naturally pointed in the direction where one of those items lived.

Wong motioned toward his left, so Christine slowly started looking toward that side of the room. Everything around her seemed very magical. It even felt magical.

Christine Palmer actually saw a mirror off in the distance, but Wong's voice immediately distracted her. He changed the subject, and he mentioned where his favorite room was in the Sanctorum. Doing that made Christine turn her head back very quickly.

"It's the biggest kitchen I have ever seen."

He was talking about food. The kitchen. Ok. Christine smiled again. She thought about how she could eat, but her attention was wandering back toward the mirror.

She felt compelled to do something over there, but unfortunately Wong was leading her in a different direction.
