No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter 50: By The Way (Part 10)
...
FUUUCKKKKKKKkkkkkk THAT.
...
Clint Barton stepped into the sparring ring, but he had a small scowl on his face. He didn't want to look at Ezekiel any longer. Actually, the baby archer didn't want to see his smug face ever again.
He always held a sarcastic looking grin. It was slight, and SMUG. Barton hated it, so he kept looking away. The baby bird focused on Natasha instead, because he knew that she didn't like him either.
She didn't like him for different reasons, but...
A thought suddenly crossed Clint's young mind. It had something to do with Victor Strange, so he quickly cleared his throat.
"Good morning. I don't think I need to explain why you're here, right?"
Nick Fury said something, and the baby archer glanced in his direction. NO. He didn't have to explain why he or anyone else was there, but...
Clint wasn't a fan of the situation. He wasn't a fan of it when he first walked through the door, and he definitely wasn't a fan of it first thing in the morning.
"Agent Barton, do you understand why you're here right now?"
Nick Fury had a loud voice. He didn't "raise" his voice toward Clint when he spoke, but his voice was just up there. The field agent looked up at his superior, and then he looked over at Ezekiel.
"Yes."
He understood that they were teammates again, and what he had to say about that didn't matter. What he had to say about anything, or anyone, didn't matter at all.
Natasha started helping the archer with his sparring gloves. He could see that someone else was helping Ezekiel. They were going to fight, but obviously the encounter was going to be supervised.
"We're waiting on Steve. He's actually late, for once."
It seemed like the sparring session was supposed to be run by Steve Rogers, but the star spangled man was late to the gig. That was odd, but the baby archer knew that he'd have to behave himself.
Clint wanted to sneak in a few cheap shots, just because he didn't like his opponent at all. He briefly contemplated why he felt that way. Clint stared down at his hands. Natasha was wrapping them up for him, and she kept studying his behavior.
She was securing his bones and joints beneath the tape, while the baby birds mind continued contemplating.
Maybe, he felt a bit jealous of Ezekiel. I mean...
The guy never said or did anything to him. Other than the bizarre body-snatching thing, Ezekiel didn't really deserve any animosity. So.. Clint Barton tried to squash the thought. It just seemed like he was better than him, or something.
Victor seemed really into him, or whatever. They were inseparable.
The baby archer couldn't form the correct thought. He just remembered a thing or two, and he suddenly felt stupid for responding to Victor's message.
The truth was getting clearer for him, in a sense.
His hands felt secure beneath the gloves, so he stepped a little further into the ring. Ezekiel's hands were secured as well, but they were unable to begin.
Bucky Barnes kept calling Steve. He left his best friend a message about being late. Bucky wanted to know why he had to be there early, while Steve got to show up hella late...
Ezekiel listened to all the noise, then his attention returned to Victor's "friendly roommate".
The Jackal observed his quiet opponent, then an eagerness about fighting him started building up. Ezekiel wanted to let "Field Agent" Clint Barton make the first move, then he planned to crush his kindhearted soul.
