No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1

Chapter 58: Parallel Universe (Part 8)

Steve Rogers was standing inside a very fancy elevator. He was traveling down to one of the lower levels of a fancy building, and it was taking a bit of time.

Toward his left stood a woman named Pepper Potts. She was guiding him through Stark Industries because the blonde didn't have the clearance to access Tony's work space.

Steve could have access if he wanted it, but he didn't like to interrupt Tony's work. Steve also preferred to ask him for access every time he would visit. Tony often told him that it was the oddest thing, but...

"I'll admit that he's pretty entertaining. Demanding, but entertaining."

Pepper was giving Steve all the details about Wade Wilson. The mercenary had been living in something called a "cryo-tube" and Tony had been working on his condition for almost a month.

Was it over a month? Steve wasn't very sure. Deadpool had himself a habitat growing in the middle of Tony's workspace, and Steve was there to escort him to his new home.

The mercenary was laying on a small bed. Tony had some of his belongings delivered to the tube. He couldn't have Deadpool getting bored, or whatever..

Steve stepped toward the cryo-tube. He noticed a modernized record player beside the small bed. It was portable, bright red and playing a peculiar tune.

"Holy fugnuts."

Wade quickly removed his headphones. He noticed that Steve Rogers randomly entered the workspace. The mercenary couldn't believe it. He jumped up and waved.

Steve took in his appearance. He had a few things to discuss with Wade before he would be able to leave his temporary home.

"Don't mind the giant erection."

"You were informed that you are leaving this tube today. Right Wade?"

Steve had to be sure. He heard what the mercenary said to him before he asked his question. Tony told him all about Deadpool's demeanor, and his interesting way of communicating.

Steve also hid a small smile that formed. He felt amused, but he didn't want to draw attention to it.

"I was told. But hey you know, I kinda like it here. Your boo kept poking me and dodging questions. Did he tell you?"

Wade hoped that he did. He enjoyed the time that he spent talking to Tony. They mainly discussed the sunshine man that just walked in. Deadpool watched Steve glance over Tony's work space.

His clothes were all pressed and clean. Wade started looking around for a single wrinkle. He couldn't see one from where he stood. The mercenary became a bit transfixed.

"Tony told me. Do you understand that you are leaving with me today, but that doesn't mean you are free to leave."

Steve decided to be specific. There were a few issues that needed to be sorted out before Wade Wilson was allowed to join the fold. He was Stephen Stranger's prisoner, so if he tried to take off...

The mercenary smiled beneath his mask. He was given a new outfit or two, thanks to Tony Stark. He was even given some of that famous "nano-tech", but it was only designed to serve one purpose.

Wade made sure to pack it with the rest of his stuff. He understood what Steve said, but the merc took his time before he gave his response.

"I only understand that I am supposed to make amends for my crimes, join the Boy Scouts and live in servitude for... how long exactly?"

Steve maintained a pleasant smile. He wasn't sure how long Wade was supposed to live in "servitude", but the soldier wanted him to make some sort of amends.

"You don't get a pass for attempted murder anymore, Wade. You earn one."

Deadpool almost took Ezekiel's life. Steve, Tony, and Stephen all decided to use that situation to their advantage.

The three of them were determined to accomplish something, and they saw it all as if they were playing a game of chess.
