No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1

Chapter 61: Headspace (Part 1)

...

Wade Wilson was about to pass out. First of all, he was officially out of the cryo-tube. Second, Steve Rogers was sitting beside him in a tiny cab.

Heeeeeee smelllllleddd soooo goooodddd.

Wade was about to burst. Some internal combustion was about to go down in that cab. Wade was burning up and he kept mentioning that he needed a solid twenty right there in that moment.

Steve held a small smile. He knew what it meant. Tony told him all about how he was ranked, but the soldier didn't budge.

He was mainly escorting the entertaining assassin to the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, but he continued stalling and taking his time. Steve didn't want to rush and he planned to converse with Wade for a bit longer.

He wanted to see where he was at in regards to Ezekiel. The blonde even brought him up for the second time.

Wade started staring at the back of the cab driver's head. Steve brought up a failed target, and...

Deadpool's body was completely covered. Steve took a moment to look over the red and black outfit that he was wearing. Tony told him about the additions he made, and what he accomplished with his Nano-tech.

Steve waited to hear something. The mercenary was finally quiet, but his peculiar movements started picking up.

"How is he? Obadiah's silver dollar..."

That's what Ezekiel's father called him, behind his back. Deadpool wasn't sure if his target knew that information, but ultimately none of it mattered.

He had been Stephen Strange's prisoner since the night he almost killed Ezekiel. Wade hadn't seen him, or anyone really for...how long?

"He's doing well."

Steve studied the person beside him. The silver dollar comment interested Steve for only a moment. Anything Obadiah Stane had to say didn't last long in the soldier's mind.

"Do you plan to finish the job?"

That was the only information that Steve Rogers was interested in discussing. He brought up the question, and he kept a sharp focus on the way Deadpool behaved.

He seemed contemplative. Mellow, but not unsure. Steve watched him fix his mask over his neck. His left leg moved, and then the assassin started looking over toward one of the tall buildings.

The question threw him off a little bit. What a thing to ask a man who took pride in killing swine and "silver dollars". His elbow started itching tho, then the assassin slowly cleared his throat.

Something happened, before the shot.

Deadpool hadn't really come to terms with it at that point. Steve obviously wanted an answer from him, but...

The S.H.I.E.L.D. building was getting close. There wasn't an answer in sight, but Steve felt like he got what he needed out of the conversation. The mercenary continued thinking over what happened.

If he wanted to finish the job, then he would have finished the job...
