No-One But You (The Mystic Consultant) - Part 1
Chapter 62: Headspace (Part 2)
...
"That word you used. Obsessed. What does that word mean?"
...
Clea Strange was technically a foreigner when it came down to that word. Her vocabulary was just as good as any "Earth girl", but the word "obsessed" was something she hadn't really encountered before.
Christine blinked several times. She never had to explain a word like that to someone before. She
processed what Clea said to her, and she also tried to process Stephen's use of the word when he spoke about his wife.
"You want to know what obsessed means?"
"Yes."
Clea had a few ideas about the word, but she clearly didn't understand. Christine just looked at her for a moment. Her dream-like hair was long, and Clea gently moved it over her shoulder.
Stephen mentioned that he felt "obsessed" with Clea, and Christine wasn't sure how to properly describe it.
She thought about what Stephen was actually saying to her back when he used the word, and she didn't want to define it incorrectly.
Stephen was very delicate when he said it. He seemed very vulnerable as well, and in love. She
kept looking at his "Dream Girl" as the definition of the word came to mind. Christine smiled a
little, then she slowly looked around the room.
"It means..."
Wow. Christine was having a hard time in that moment. The challenge had to do with her own
feelings for Stephen. They caught up with her, like always, but the young woman powered
through.
"When a person says they are "obsessed" with someone, it means that they think about them all the time. You're in his thoughts, a lot."
Clea held a sharp stare. She temporarily dropped the subject about her enemies and harming Christine. She dropped the conversation quickly, because what Christine said bothered her. It nagged at her chest, and she was only beginning to understand why.
"He said this to you?"
"Yes. We spoke about it, a while ago."
Christine didn't want to add any additional fuel to the fire. Her plan was to tell the truth, and hopefully not make Clea Strange angry. She picked up on a jealous energy going on in the beginning, but it seemed like Stephen's wife was softening up.
...
Clea glanced toward her right. She felt a presence enter the room around her and she knew who it was. Christine was unable to feel such things, but she had the ability to see a person when they entered a room.
Stephen's sister, Donna, entered the conversation before it even started. Her hair was long as well and she seemed...
"What else did he say to you?"
Clea seemed very curious. She almost revealed a thought of her own, but the insight made her stop. Her sister-in-law ended up standing directly beside her.
Christine seemed surprised with the latest question. Stephen's sister showing up made the situation feel even more intimidating, so she gave her conversation with Stephen some additional thought.
"He told me how you two met, and he said that he married you twice."
Stephen wasn't telling her any of that information to hurt her. Christine knew that, and she allowed him to share all the stories about Clea, because they were friends.
Stephen Strange didn't have a lot of friends, and it seemed like he kept information about his wife and daughter to himself.
"Is that true?"
Did he marry her twice? Christine had to wonder. She didn't believe that Stephen got it all wrong the first time. Either way, the current subject was making Clea's expression soften.
"He did. We married here, and then with his family."
They had two ceremonies, and it seemed so long ago. Clea wasn't sure why they were discussing it. She began to feel a little uncomfortable. It felt too personal, and she started feeling warm.
"That sounds like a very sweet conversation."
Donna gave a brief smile but her temperament was similar to her older brother's. Donna Strange didn't like to mince words and her sarcasm sometimes rivaled Stephen's.
Donna actually looked into what happened between her older brother and the woman that randomly reached the Dark Dimension through a mirror...
The sister knew Christine Palmer was stalling out the truth and attempting to gain some sort of pass from Clea.
